T-West: Other than 2 kills, we have successfully completed the campaign through pacifism! *769 total deaths from this campaign* T-West: I might struggle sleeping at night over those two kills.
I like the sound of that. I never understood when i was a kid playing this first scenario as to why these two had to be taken out through dying if this was a medieval tournament rather than simply submitting once a certain amount of health was depleted. Pretty sure that not all competitors were take in out in real life during such festivities.
But if El Cid had died, he could not have led the army of Pacifism to Toledo, and the slaughter there would continue. Yusuf would have conquered Spain, killing Moors and Spanish alike. And Berenguar would have seized Valencia, killing its people. The question then becomes: how many lives were saved because El Cid killed 2 men under duress?
Potential Pacifism Bonus in Scenario 3: When El Cid is leaving Alfonso's fortress, when a trigger sets your diplomacy towards Alfonso from Ally to Enemy (which causes Alfonso to set you from Ally to Enemy), you can quickly go to the diplomacy menu once Alfonso begins talking to you and set him back to Ally (before he sets you to enemy), ensuring that the two of you will be in peace and that El Cid doesn't even have to destroy Alfonso's Castle near Motamid's city.
Wiki says otherwise in one instance. Like he conquered a city and converted all the mosques into churches. Still he was one of the more noble characters historically.
That is what he told himself every night denying the dried bones of those 2 innocent men which only followed their king's order and ended up slaughtered mercilessly :)
Great job some of these sounded quite tricky! I choose to believe that the two contestants in the beginning were just wounded like la hire and would return safely in the next scenario
3:41 "Frankly, after forcing us to kill two units, King Sancho had it coming." True pacifists know that an eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind.
you deserve way more followers. The commentary and quality is on point. keep up the good work. its rly interesting too watch even for me which isnt even playing aoe2 at the moment.
You wish to play DE version of El Cid? With DE Sancho? I will not alow that. However, if he wishes, I'm sure there's a mod in the Steam Workshop, T-West?
JA! Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is Pacifisim! And Distraction! I mean, our TWO chief weapons are Pacifisim and Distraction! And Wololo! ...Damm it! This is it, our chief weaponS are Pacifism, Distraction and Wololo! And an outstanding content creator!
They're injured cause it was a friendly tournament, i believe they fainted from the exhausting fight instead of being killed and that's the resolve we have for pacifism lol
Ahh too bad for the Two tournament guys, but i mean those were in a tournament right ? like both parties agreed to fight to the death, we could agree on that they were nessesary for El Cid to vow on pacifism afterwards, Superb video T-West ! (Are you going to do all the conquerors solo-battles? like in a compliation or something ?) Waiting on for the next one for more Pacifism !
I'm starting to love this series :) so creative, being a game devloper myself, it's just facinating how players can totally turn games on their head to create their own :)
13:49 "Inquisition proves to be a valuable aide, as it yields fast conversions against 11th century gunpowder units." ... Please pour some out for the souls of any halfway-history buffs whose souls just died a lot right there.
I have to say, I'm really enjoying this series. Not only is it entertaining, I'm learning a lot about the game mechanics. I never realized, for instance, that conversion times can carry over from one unit to another.
Great as always. El Cid 5 is one of the hardest scenarios for me. Last night used the info from your Genghis Khan video to get all the achievements for it, hopefully this will be enough to get through the fight with Berenger. It's currently the only scenario I don't have gold of the AoC scenarios.
I can't imagine how many hours that took how many times you had to restart a mission after a unit accidentally killed an enemy. Well done, definitely worth a subscribe
You could capture the monastery at the first mission and make two monks because you have 200 gold no? Equally is a good video and I enjoyed every second, good job!
I definitely was not expecting this series to continue so soon, I do believe this is like seeing the god returning to mount Olympus. Btw really pumped, Montezuma is my favorite campaign in all of AoE.
That were not kills in the first Szenario, that were just training and those to guys returned happily back to their families after. But when i think about it, you could have enforced pacifism more with the missionaries, as they are more unexpected than the spanish inquisition.
I actually like how you portrayed Alphonso as the good guy in your pacifist AoE2 universe (ar first at least, the guy is just irredeemable even by pacifist standards)
king of valencia is honestly not that difficult. It feels intimidating, yes but berenguer is lacking a LOT of blacksmith upgrades, never gets heresy or faith and is pretty weak to both monks and conqs - especially monks. Those bombard towers are annoying tho
That's an interesting trigger about removing the monks and depending on the horse el cid for the victory condition. Also did not know you could go the back way into the base and it was wide open lol. Interesting conditions on the other scenarios, I never bothered with the transports so I didn't know they had that impact.
Oh, I just deleted some of the units and buildings for King Sancho so I could see what happens when heading back. There are indeed several Castles and an army defending the tournament grounds.
As a kid I didn't know english and my aoe2 conquerors expansion was on english so I just killed the first champion on foot and then took babieca and run away. Sancho would declare me as enemy but I could still go and have the serfs join me. Maybe you could have just killed one of the champions at the tournament, or maybe that's been changed on DE version.
Ah, they didn't join me when I had just the foot version of El Cid, but maybe those triggers would still work with the horse version. Either way, I think the condition of bringing King Sancho back to the tournament grounds still wouldn't be activated.
The 4th is way easier when you Wall el cid and Alfonso somewhere at the left Edge in the mountains and send two villagers with a Scout to cite the enemys Units near to the church of the Green on the sea. Then Just build a bunch of firegalleys and destroy the docks.
I literally stopped the game I was playing when I got the notification for this video on my phone! Entertaining as always! I'm surprised you didn't use the missionaries more, since their increased mobility seemed to address the monk's biggest weakness, though I guess monks have greater range. Also, depending on the scenario, I don't think you always need to delete castles immediately, getting conscription, trebs and unique techs is really useful and you shouldn't have to worry too much about the castles killing anyone if you don't pick up the extra range techs and the castle itself is located at the back of your base.
The extra range of Monks is just extremely important. The one use I did find for Missionaries is converting Trebs and Rams, since they need to be adjacent to them and the range doesn't matter.
@@T-West Fair enough, though I imagine being able to dance missionaries back and forth avoiding bombard cannon fire would have come in handy in The Lion and the Demon ;)
I love these pacifist runs. Not just because I love this game and it's fascinating to watch you doing the challenge, but also because monks play such a big part in the tactics! I love monks in any form, and they're my favourite unit in AoE2
15:16 The first of our opponents is Cyan. They train siege and cavalry archers. The arrows can't kill our rams. So, we use a market to balance our economy and train some siege. But we can't let their rams kill our rams. Instead we are going to need a trap. And in this scenario we have the best trap of all...... DA FISH TRAP!!!
I don't like it when things are "impossible" so i'm back, and I can say that it IS possible to win the eld cip campaign without killing any enemy units. The only problem is that "Brother Against Brother" will take years to complete. Destroying all the castles while King Alfonso's monk heals you, it will take forever.
Can't believe that the game has a pacifist "Campaign". Props to you for these smart and intuative videos man. Your story lines are now Canon. Probably those 2 kills Turned el Cid pacifist who knows... 🇦🇼🇦🇼🇦🇼
What is surprising from this T West guy is that not only he do a pacifist/least kills run, but he also does all of that (along with Joan and Barbarossa campaign) in Hard difficulty this entire time! This guy need more attention more than what he get now, for all these achievement he gets!
The best bit of the video was the trebuchet destroying the outpost in time with the music crescendo at 11:59, was that godlike editting or just divine luck?
It took a few years, but I came up with a better solution for doing King Sancho's tournament: ruclips.net/video/MPEOAbHMmCw/видео.htmlfeature=shared
T-West: Other than 2 kills, we have successfully completed the campaign through pacifism!
*769 total deaths from this campaign*
T-West: I might struggle sleeping at night over those two kills.
I might do an Immortals Campaign where I attempt to win scenarios with no losses's
I think you could've used "torpedo3" to avoid "kill" twice. 1st time for champion second time for knight.
@@kirti98 cheats aren't part of the challenge, they where only used to test out what is needed to win
Actually since it’s a tournament, they only got knocked unconscious ;)
That's not what the Achievements screen tells me :'(
Ya they only fainted and just need a few beeps at the Pokémon Center
@@T-West If it works for LA HIRE then it works for El Cid
Like La Hire if vanquished in Cleansing of the Loire!
Especially because it's a tournament, those fellas (and the horse) are dead.
i believe they are just injured, like la Hire.
Their fighting spirits may have died, but their bodies were carried back to the castle and nursed back to full health.
Absolutely!
I like the sound of that. I never understood when i was a kid playing this first scenario as to why these two had to be taken out through dying if this was a medieval tournament rather than simply submitting once a certain amount of health was depleted. Pretty sure that not all competitors were take in out in real life during such festivities.
Your story telling is as good as these pacifist runs, and that's actually a very high bar!
If you joined an esports team, would your name become "Apro Razak"?
A true pacifist would have let El Cid die in the tournament of champions. 1 death is less than 2 :)
@@cdcdrr Sounds like another trolley problem.
cdcdrr Utilitarianism ftw
Besides, the question is whether we can WIN the scenario, and killing El Cid always results in defeat.
@@T-West The answer to the trolley problem is Multi Track Drifting

So does this cause Alfonso to set back to ally? I’m going to test this on HD since I don’t yet have DE. Thanks!
I wasn't expecting the pacifist runs back yet, but I'm pleasantly surpriesed!
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Nobody expect the Spanish (pacifistic) Inquisition!
Of course you weren’t expecting a pacifist run for the Spanish campaign!
13:17 was my favorite moment... the idea of Count Berenguer watching the rec! Sounds like something he would do!
El Cid is a true follower of Christ in that he ordered his men to turn the other cheek whether Christian or Muslim.
Wiki says otherwise in one instance. Like he conquered a city and converted all the mosques into churches. Still he was one of the more noble characters historically.
@@sharilshahed6106 Damn I wonder how many monks he trained for that to happen!
T-West: We are pacifists, we don't kill!

Also T-West: Employs literal suicide bombers.
There were no kills. Those two from the tournament were just wounded. They are safe and sound.
They're just pining for the Fjords
Exactly! Tournament deaths were very rare, after all
That is what he told himself every night denying the dried bones of those 2 innocent men which only followed their king's order and ended up slaughtered mercilessly :)

Amazing as always, the trick with the monks insta convertion was awesome!
Oooh I love the gunpowder in early 11 century. Who doesn't know that El Cid uses fire weapons in the times of the Reconquest?
Fastest break of pacifism yet? The dock-monk-transport ship trick was cool
gonna practice that. I only learned recently a monk could shift their focus or if caught up with a running enemy, the conversion still continues.
