Your story is so similar to mine, I really appreciate your honesty and transparency. It's helped me feel stronger in my own fitness journey. I am now over 5 years into recovery from my eating disorder (that was also overlooked until it caused a severe medical emergency bc I wasn't the picture of anorexia that everyone expects). I weigh more than I ever have, but I'm also capable of levels of strength, endurance, and flexibility that I never could have imagined before. My doctors all say that I am in amazing health, and I actually enjoy exercise now instead of obsessing over it because of how I thought it could change my appearance. I'm finally getting to a point where I am happy and I feel like I can actually love myself. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. It makes me feel seen and gives me so much hope for the future ❤
Thank you so much for this video!! I can't tell you how much I needed to hear this. The fact that you have evolved your mentality as an athlete to put your health first is really inspiring. I needed this today!!!!! You're great!!!
Thanks for sharing and I appreciate your vulnerability. I’m at the beginning of my fitness journey (About at year at this point) and I appreciate your advice. I do hope to avoid these mistakes. It seems me and my dad’s side our bodies run heavy but very strong (with proper training and recovery time). I have to remind myself of that. Anyways thank you. You’re doing awesome
No matter what you weight, you need muscle to lift weights. People say “mass moves mass” but that’s bs because if that was true the heaviest people in the world would be world record holders in all strength sports and they’re not. I could lift similar to what I can lift now when I was thin. Just compare yourself to yourself, whatever is heavy for you is heavy! We’ve all got different genetics and upbringings that can cause us to have a certain amount of strength. Whatever you can do, whatever improvements you make is worthy of celebration ❤️
I’m not Beth, but I think what is heavyweight changes as you get stronger. I get the sense in the weightlifting world that getting completely depleted with six or eight reps determines whether that weight is heavy for you or not. And of course, sometimes people test themselves with a one rep, heaviest weight possible. It seems kind of counterproductive to get discouraged because you can’t lift a really heavy weight when you’re a big person if you’re not training at lower weights anyway. Do what you can so that you don’t get injured and in two or three years, you are likely to be pretty darn strong.
So sad to hear someone with an eating disorder talking about diet extremes. In an attempt to get healthy I've been working hard at eating healthy and I feel like I've hyper focused on food at points and I know that it's a huge mental drain. I hope you can be healthy and fit and in 20 years look back on this video and see growth.
I would really love for your channel to blow up since I like your content, and I believe it's really important to share a story like yours. Thank you, Beth
There is nothing wrong with being obsessed with a sport. To be the best you have to be obsessed with it. I have exercised 5 days a week my entire life and I will keep doing this until the day I can’t. Cardio is so important. Hybrid is the way to go 👊👊
So for me obsessed when I was sick with my ED was 6-7 days a week twice a day and I had no life outside of that at all so there definitely was something wrong with that level of obsession. I was super unhappy. Now I train 5 days a week, hybrid focused and I’m definitely obsessed but in a totally different way, I also actually have a life outside of it and I’m not constantly burnt out 🥰🙌🏻
@ Good for you Beth. Rest days are so important. I’m glad you have a good exercise and social balance. You share similar traits to me. I have exercised so much of my life to make up for areas I was unhappy about! Keeps me off the streets I suppose
The point is that only a few people are going to be the best and it’s very likely a lot more people are injured or psychologically Warsau with the attitude of having to be the best.
@@oolala53 I couldn’t disagree with you more. Having an elite mindset in every aspect of my life is important to me and many others. You create the best version of yourself!
Thanks for your honesty.
I think the world would be a happier place if we could focus more on fitness, strength and health, and less on appearance.
Yes!! Me too!

what do you think heavy weights for heavier women would be? just asking for myself to see if i’m lifting heavy 😊❤weights

Hey, just curious are you saying that you can’t get a physique that you desire and maintain it without being unhealthy?

You definitely do not need this much bodyfat. Stop coping, it's not healthy.
