John Oliver is such a witty/brilliant/quick thinking guy. Seems like a coolguy in general.
I saw him riff for five minutes on stage at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center about the Big Chicken in Atlanta, completely off the cuff, and it was the funniest thing I've ever experienced in person. He was asking people in the audience about what is Atlanta's 'weird kitschy landmark' and he heard "Big Chicken" from the crowd, pulled out his phone, did a quick google and said, "Oh, holy fuck, Atlanta." Hilarity ensued.

He’s on one of few TV shows that doesn’t have outside sponsors so he hasn’t had to train himself in censorship the same way hosts like jimmy Fallon has

This is a perfect example of just how much smarter, funnier & quick quitted John Oliver is than poor Jimmy Fallon, it also shows Fallon’s complete lack of interview skills. I mean just go back & listen to Fallon’s actual words, his ‘gosh, gee, wow’ is the extent of it, lucky for Fallon that Oliver took over the interview! If it wasn’t for the fact Fallon plays games with his guests he wouldn’t be worth watching at all!
I agree. I cringe when I see Jimmy Fallon's interview. He is horrible. He's dry, boring, he stumbles a lot, and he can't seem to think quick enough about what to say. But he interviews people I like. That's the damning thing about it. Plus, his sketches are pretty funny. But seeing him talk 1 on 1 with someone makes me cringe.
UMM it kinda does matter when we're talking about TV hosts. You're agreeing that Jimmy Fallon lacks interview skills and that's a big part of his job. Sorry to expect quality from big TV networks.
