I never realized how many decisions go into a painting until I started doing it myself. And there’s no “undo” button or eraser haha! It’s intimidating n exhausting, but I learn from each attempt and am improving.

Yes there is no "undo" button, which makes it all the more important to have a process for making paintings that can help simplify and guide the decisions that you make to get to the intended result 🙂 Also, some mediums are more forgiving than others. Oil paint is arguably much more forgiving than acrylic (and especially watercolor), and it was one of the reasons why we chose to teach this process and these fundamentals in oil. ~ Daniel

I’ve watched all the videos in this playlist. You explain things so clearly! I am interested in the program but the fee is very intimidating-$2000… and I also do not quite understand why students have to use the BEST PAINT in the world provided in your program. To me, it’s unnecessary extra charges paid to Evolve. Wish students had their own choice of the paint they use.
Hey ColorsinGrace, this is a fantastic question! Why does Evolve insist that their students use the best paint in the world and provide it for them?? I will actually be making a substantial video about this within the next month or two so that I can fully explain it because I have a million reasons why! So please be on the lookout for that, but here I’ll at least give you this to ponder - Evolve gets students to pro level painting skills in about 1 year (based on our avg student putting in only 7 hours a week). Ateliers take at least 3 years (of 20-40 hours a week) to get there, and art colleges take 4-5 years if they even get them there at all. Now what if I told you that one of the reasons why we get results so fast is because we use the best paint in the world? If this is true, two objections come to my mind. The first is, “Okay, it’s faster but what about the price?” Well, Evolve is about 100x cheaper than ateliers and art colleges. So we get results faster and for less money, (and we guarantee results). Second objection is, “Does this mean that the paint makes the artist good, rather than the artist themself being good?” No. Good material doesn’t make an artist any better. But bad material can hold an artist back for a host of reasons, such as creating bad habits to compensate for the material and not being able to tell when it’s the fault of the artist or the fault of the material (which then makes it really hard to improve). So, in summary, if you’re serious about improving your painting skills, Evolve is a great investment that costs way less than its competitors and gets results much much faster. Now, I understand that this might not make Evolve’s price tag any less intimidating if you’re comparing the price to one-time online tutorials and courses. But we’re quite a different animal than a course or subscription that simply gives you access to educational videos and a list of recommended supplies. Instead, we become your personal guide to reaching pro level art skills from start to finish. This involves back and forth feedback on every single one of your assignments, and access to one-on-one meetings with instructors to ensure that you are understanding the material. We have an interactive community of students to encourage and inspire one another. And as you know we ship the materials to our students all over the world to ensure quality control for no additional fees. We very much make it our responsibility to get results for our students. All we ask for from our students is the personal commitment to do the work and follow our instructions. If I am paying thousands of dollars for a course I shouldn't have to buy more stuff myself. By the time you finish the course you will have spent $10,000 or ?
