I knew from the get that the Supra was going to be far and away the best car. Toyota has been on such a hot streak with their sports cars lately. They just get it.
Toyota? B58 ZFH 8 Speed, pretty much every single component is BMW lol. The pratical supra is the Xdrive M340i, the best performance car on the market for the $
For me Supra, I think it looks the best, and I love me some good B58 action. Funny thing I noticed is how the reaction and acceptance to the Supra changed over time, went from being the most hated sports car to everyone agreeing it’s a pretty damn good car, an overachiever in its segment for sure
I was not happy when the leaks came out and they all said it’s a Z4, and was super skeptical. I was in love the second it was revealed, and 3 years later got my own and I adore it.
It's nice how even though still generally agreed it's a disappointing Supra(since it's a BMW wearing a Toyota dress), and looks only a mother could love, reviews have been able to look past that and acknowledge that it's a fun driving BMW
Supra all the way. I'm on my second GR Supra. The first one got totaled by a crazy left turning greenlight lady at 50 mph. I knew I was going to get another with out a doubt. They are hard to find still. Great video!
"Did you say supra's are hard to find?" Where do you live?? I'm in the great state of Texas, and their literally everywhere!! Dealer lots new and used have plenty of them.
I just picked up a 45th anniv. GR Supra, last week. I chose the auto trans for two reasons: 1. My MX5 Miata has a manual transmission and is very light. 2. Living in a big city means getting caught in traffic jams are unavoidable. Also, more people can experience the car, and on rare occasions, can use it even if they can't drive a manual.
Supra won me over comparing against the Z. Dont regret it at all. Thought about upgrading from the Supra to the M2 a few months ago but honestly, the Supra is so solid with 5k in mods it smokes almost everything it goes up against. Going to hold onto the supra for another 3 or 4 years and that point probably take the leap to a 911 turbo or GT3 if I can find one.
You must have missed the new M2 with dp, and stage 2 tune putting out 720whp. The dp and tune gave +255whp. We aren't getting that with our b58. Like not even close lol.
@@keckchan7156😂 The Nismo will come no where near 500hp, let alone 600. The 370 Nismo had 350hp. The new Nismo will also be sold with an automatic only.
Exceptional shots, looking at them from a distance is the only way to convey and appreciate the different shapes and sizes.. Nobody else shows cars like this
The first sports car I ever rode around in belonged to my best friend's mother. A blue 1973 240Z. The new Z looks enough like it that it would always be my choice.
The Z hands down. I prefer the clean looks of the Z, and the fact the aftermarket is already bursting with parts for it. If I just wanted to buy it and forget it picking one of the BMWs would be an option. But it seems like the bare bones 6spd Sport trim was made for folks who can't leave well enough alone like myself. Once the markups have melted away the price difference between the Z and Zupra being spent on some quality parts will really liven up the Z. I actually prefer the cleaner analog interior of the Z, I was never a big fan of how busy the European interiors are.
Thanks for speaking truth about the BMW carbon bucket seats! I had them in my M4 Comp and they were torture devices that caused me to sell the car. Great comparison, fellas!
No doubt that it’s good, but the Z is so forgettable. People hyped it so much because they were upset about the Supra and it ended up getting walked. Then everyone started damage controlling trying to be the “realistic” enthusiast talking about “Oh well performance isn’t everything, it’s about how it makes you feel” like cut it out. Everyone in the comments continuously lives for spec sheets, bench racing and talking about “gapplebees” now all of a sudden they act like it doesn’t matter.
You’re reading hundreds of comments and think they all are the same people? Z is way better of a road trip Japanese muscle car and that’s enough lol I’m not racing towards the next red light
It would be interesting to see these compared to similar priced muscle cars. They have different customer bases but I'm sure plenty of people would switch between them if one is objectively better
These 3 cars are definitely appealing to some of the Mustang and Camaro buyers, considering those two cars are more sports car than pony car nowadays. Won’t sway the hardcore Dodge fans though. Dodge has their own niche and Ford/Chevrolet both fell off a while ago.
I have the 2022 bmw m240 (same engine and trans the supra has, so same hp) 382hp and 369 trq. I've raced mustang gt on a dig and roll, spnaked it on the dig, and we were head to head on the roll. Also have raced 392 charger and challengers, they lost at everything. And a camaro ss which lost the dig. The supra weighs way less than my car with the same power.
The power of these cars ,very impressive i still will go for the M2 its a great drive when fitted with ps100 victor racing stat wing, will like to see a review of that .
The supra is so much better looking in person than on video. On video its Z, bmw, supra for me. If this was my only car...id probably go bmw for the ability to put stuff in the back seat. If this was my second car, id probably go supra. If i already had a really good sports car, id go z.
Just saw an M2 in real life and it's the opposite, looks worse in real life. Supra def looks the best in real life to me with the Z almost tied with it
I’m hoping for the Z to be more accessible here because currently in Florida there are only The Protoz and they’re going for 70-80K at dealerships, I’d like to trade in my Civic and go for that Z in a beautiful blue or Grey. The blue interior is honestly beautiful
So what I did was just research online via Edmunds and truecar and saved/requested contact dealerships around the country. At that point I started taking notes on markups around the country (I live in Ohio). Every dealership I contacted had a markup, the highest being $25k and lowest $5k. Im also referring to the performance trim. I'd say the average mark up is $10-$15k across the 20 dealerships I talked to. I was originally not going to pay over MSRP but settled for a $2,000 markup which I couldn't pass up. I ended up picking it up in nashville which was about a 5.5 hour drive. It was a fun little quest to pick it up. Hope this helped!
I want the Z out of this group. Z, M2 Supra is how id list these personally. All are great though and i would like either one. But if i had a choice id choose the Z
@@kc510 one of the best build jdm cars of all time. Faster than a cayman on the track. They can be built for 800 hp. They look incredible. Sound amazing with the right setup like motordyne shockwave exhaust and CA intake. Forced induction sound even sexier.
Objectively it might not be the best, but the Z is stunning and so true to the lineage of the previous generations. It was always about being affordable, and couple that with the fact they arent selling it in the UK; I want one bad. Great vid guys
I feel the M2 is not in the same class as the other two. To me it’s closer to a Camaro and Mustang. The M2 is a daily type of car with a sporty feel. The Supra and Z are proper sport cars with enough comfort for some people to live with daily.
obviously, I am biased since I am a A90 owner. But the Supra has probably the best body lines and natural wide body compared to the Z and M2. Since it goes wide, narrow, and wide again to the back. Giving it a more aggressive wide body illusion compared to the less aggressive M2 and Z's design. I also prefer the rear end of the supra wayyyyyyy more than the front end LOL. Also, I thought it wasn't fair that the exhaust compassion was only in normal mode. Even though the Z doesn't have a valved exhaust, still would have been nice to hear.
The exhaust comparison was in everyone’s loudest modes. We even made it more fair to the Z because it doesn’t let you rev above 4000 rpm in neutral or clutch in. So jakub figured out putting it into 2nd with the clutch in let’s you rev to redline.
@@TheStraightPipes I think that was the confusing part because the Supra sounded very quiet if that was sport mode. I was wondering where the burbles were. Maybe it was tested without the car being warmed up.
I 100% agree Kenny, the Wide - Narrow - Wide really accentuates the wideness of the Supra. Supra may have sounded quiet because it was too loud. The way cameras try to keep audio from peaking can really muffle loud sounds.
@@KennyHaan In the manuals, if you get really close to red line it won't burble. If you rev to like 5k-6k tho, it will burble and crackle like crazy. you also get burbles from 1000-2200 rpm and between 2200 and 4800 you get little burbles so yeah. also side note, the supra pulls from the z pretty good lol
>Chances you aren't gonna go to a dealership and test all of them... The beauty of working for a larger dealer that gets exotics and everything on trade.
I don’t understand why everyone hates the m2 appearance. I think it’s wicked looking and I appreciate the boxy nature. Such an improvement from what they’ve been doing.
I'm having the f87 and the new Z rn and just ordered the g87 one month ago… I need to reevaluate the purchase and decide which two I'm going to sell & one to stay… Good video!
Reigniting my interest in the Z. I honestly thought it was over with reviewers saying it's no contest to the Supra and with dealers/supply leading to price gouging. I mean it's still unobtainable but maybe...maybe. Definitely needs some aftermarket stuff, but hey it's cheaper
The Z costs about 60k taxes in for the Sport version and 70k for the performance, and that's without the markups. Dealers are selling them 5k above MRSP. At those price points, the supra would be a better buy, or even a used M2C. The Z drives like a 370z with a bodykit. Go test drive one.
@@lenspls if you're referring to the States then that's not true. MSRP is MSRP - 53k Performance, 42k Sport. The mark-ups I'm seeing is 20k more. Might as well buy a Corvette.
@@porfiriato84 Or a used (not abused) GT-R. I'm just going to wait and pick up a 6spd Sport in rosewood metallic when the markups have died off, then give it the SPL Parts, Z1, NISMO, AMS tuner treatment, for the price difference between this an a Zupra (I do all my own work, pressing bushings, engine rebuilds and all, so it will just be parts cost), yep they can keep their extended warranty!
This video is great, but consumers don't group potential car purchases by cylinder count. True cost including dealer markup and dealer service level are also major factors. It would be good to see a comparison between manual cars coupes with back seats in the future. (Mustang Dark Horse, M2, etc.)
I would take previous gen M2 over new one any day, 440i over Supra any day, and like the Z but would take either of my alt options above over it any day.

Those are already rare in Europe cause they were just cheap cars from decades ago that people used up and then scrapped but to see one in North America outside the lane motor museum is wild.
@ThestraightPipes for the Nissan I was a service advisor and there was a recall for the Manuel transmissions if they grind to replace them that was released around 4 months ago
The M2 looks like a inflated Scion Tc. The Z is the best looking and now there are amazing aftermarket performance parts and exterior aftermarket parts.
I can't get beyond the fact the Z is just a refreshed 370Z with more power. No wonder its the cheapest. I don't like the rear because it looks 20 years old. The front? Nope. As for the Supra, you can't ding it on visors if the roof line works as a visor. Plus the roof line really looks good and lets get real, nobody goes duck hunting in a Supra, so you can see what you need to see out the side. I think the price difference between the Z and Supra is worth it in. You comparing a modern interior and beautiful exterior to something that's 20 years old. The better transmission and shifter almost makes up the difference on it own.
It's more like an evolution of a 350Z (300ZX if you look really hard, especially at the rear chassis and suspension layout), with a front end from the '70s and rear from the '90s, motor from a Q60, and interior as spartan and purposeful as an '80s car. But yet, when they put everything together, it's just a timeless affordable turbo touring car, and just showcase of Nissan over the decades. I'm sure a future NISMO version will have a sportier look and ride, and the Z aftermarket has always been strong, just like the BMW one, so it will be interesting to see how the Z and Z4 coupe will evolve over the years. 30 years from now it will look just as clean and classic as the Z32 and S30 look today, for folks that like that sort of thing!
Great video! For me, it is the Supra or Z with a slight nod going to the Supra. I am sure the inevitable Z NISMO edition with sharpen the soft edges of the Z. That BMW just looks ugly. The last gen of the M2 looks so much better. With all that said, I am just glad in 2023 we are still getting these incredible cars in RWD and 6-speed manuals. Have to give props to Nissan for giving us a sports car with so much value for the money and I have to give props to Toyota for making a better manual than BMW using BMW's own parts.
The Z all day. I don't car about the "shortcomings" of the Z, because i understand it's a real tuner car. I just need a solid platform with good looks to start with.
A platform that's been perfected over the past 20 years at that. It's not like they hung a Q60 engine between a 2004 350Zs front frame rails, this car follows the Nissan incremental improvement philosophy where each year the chassis and engines of the cars are improved, the process that evolved the R34 Z-tune and Mines developed their R34s from what essentially started as a R32 NA Skyline sedan a few years earlier.
i wanted a manual supra but i have kids and where i live manual supras are really hard to get and are ridiculously marked up. i ended up buying a manual f87 m2 competition.
I would choose the G87 M2. I actually made a video showcasing how good the M2 can look with better wheels. The Supra is amazing, but I like having rear seats, and the G87 M2 has a rear seat. Jackie Ding is already testing the new M2 on the track. He said it is the best stock car he has ever driven. He holds some of the top records for a few tracks with his A90 Supra. The M2 is his new project track car. I have a stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8. I am thinking about saving up money, selling my car, and buying a 2020-2021 BMW M240i with the B58 and xDrive someday. If I were super rich, I would skip that and get the M2. People are truly going to sleep on the new M2 and miss out. The G87 M2 has the S58, which is already capable of maintaining 1,000 horsepower on stock internals. It is potentially the new 2JZ/3JZ. Everyone says the B58 is the new 2JZ. I disagree. I think it is the new 1JZ. The S58 is above that. Jackie ding also said the car handles much better on the track than he expected.
The B58 is light-years ahead of the 1J. A stock block 2JZ isn't handling any more than a B58. I've seen 2J's bend rods at 700whp and spin bearings at high 600's. Overall build potential is irrelevant as most people will never see anything over 1,000 whp and without an awd chassis, it's pointless on the street. Let's also not forget about the S55.
The new M2 looks like a scion TC. That's not a good thing when you're paying that much money. Supra easily wins between these 3 if you don't need backseats. And overall what you get for your money in the used market, I think last gen M2 takes the crown. However, best bang for your buck that I've been comparing to last gen M2: 2016-2018 camaro 2SS 1LE.
M2 has a bumper so ugly, it ruins the whole front end. Supra is a great car, wrapped in 1700kg of chewed bubblegum. Z doesn't fly so high, in mechanical or visual design, but the others fly too close to the sun. The Z's V6 is gonna be the worst to work on/modify, for big performance, or when these cars get older.
Yeah that Domo Kun face is something I'm hoping the aftermarket has some creative answers for! Though in the darker colors it doesn't look as bad. It looked good on the older Z cars with their low front ends, but they should have gone after a more sculpted look with a vented hood (with real vents) with how the pedestrian crash standards put an end to that. That would have kept things cool yet given it the sleek look the rest of the car has. With that being said I wonder how Lamborghini gets away with their ankle knocking front ends!
I agree with you on the black wheels being ugly on any car. They look dirty and have no depth. When it has a contrasting color or metal polish with it, they become interesting. Too bad about the Z. It’s such a good looking car. But I feel that Nissan should have developed it for another year in terms of suspension, engine, exhaust, tech, transmission and just basic fine tuning. This is what you get when you continue to use an antiquated chassis and a Unexciting V6. Who signed off on the exhaust sound on the Z?😖 Too bad the M2 is SO SO overweight. The 2018 M2 was such a great car. Sad that it morphed into the current generation. In my mind the Supra is a keeper…not perfect, but entertaining!
for me last choice will be nissan because of the quality i have patrol and altima they are so bad more than land rover on the quality , so to be safe for me i will chose supra and then M2

For me Supra, I think it looks the best, and I love me some good B58 action. Funny thing I noticed is how the reaction and acceptance to the Supra changed over time, went from being the most hated sports car to everyone agreeing it’s a pretty damn good car, an overachiever in its segment for sure
That's why the internet is so wrong in so many things. Remember when they first hated AirPods?
I was not happy when the leaks came out and they all said it’s a Z4, and was super skeptical. I was in love the second it was revealed, and 3 years later got my own and I adore it.
Thats because the Z finally came out and took ugly af and most disappointed sports car out
It's nice how even though still generally agreed it's a disappointing Supra(since it's a BMW wearing a Toyota dress), and looks only a mother could love, reviews have been able to look past that and acknowledge that it's a fun driving BMW
M2 is cleaner. The Supra is full of fake vents, weird bulges, and BMW's bottom shelf interior. This video should've used the M2 Comp
I don’t mind the look of the m2, it’s grown on me quite a bit and I think it looks aggressive. It’s also the most usable as a daily.
Precisely. The new M2 is a beast of it's own.

M2 clearly sounds the best from outside 5:20
I'm Totally Agree The BMW M2 Sounds Really Good
Only when revving it. On a roll, Supra sounds better.

I love the M1 M2 buttons in my M. It's an F series so not as advanced as these are, but it is so nice to have.
@@busalove2013Here in Southern Cali, Supras are rare, partially because many dealerships are getting only one every three months.
I just picked up a 45th anniv. GR Supra, last week. I chose the auto trans for two reasons:

The Z for the price even taking out dealer markup, just MSRP, Is a flop imo. Really disappointed with how it turned out

Thanks for speaking truth about the BMW carbon bucket seats! I had them in my M4 Comp and they were torture devices that caused me to sell the car. Great comparison, fellas!

These 3 cars are definitely appealing to some of the Mustang and Camaro buyers, considering those two cars are more sports car than pony car nowadays.

Sorry about your camera, boys. It was a good camera and it died doing what it loved. Keep up the awesome content!
obviously, I am biased since I am a A90 owner.
@@KennyHaan I believe the MT Supra’s exhaust is a bit more muted compared to the auto. As a Supra owner as well I thought the same thing

Cheaper?? Are you sure about that? The Z has some of the highest mark-ups I've seen on any car.

Man even the 400z looks good next to the m2
I'm also hesitant because it's an open deck engine.
For the money the Supra…..hands down.
Amazing video, my Z appeared in the video!
Definitely cool an amazing video like this!
Great meeting you
The Z all day.
They way everyone loves the shifter feel in the supra.. theres no way I could buy either of the others. Its all about driving feel
Man if only the Z could sound good
It can....see the aftermarket
It's front looks like a bug. Super ugly only the rear looks amazing
M2 all day long plus the brakes are insane good !!
i wanted a manual supra but i have kids and where i live manual supras are really hard to get and are ridiculously marked up. i ended up buying a manual f87 m2 competition.
The G87 is ugly as sin and that one piece rectangle gauge screen is unbecoming of a BMW.
I'm taking the M2 which I ordered a few days ago. I should get her in early July to replace my RS3. Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!
Legend has it, TopGear digitally removed rain on every episode.
I'm taking the Z, all day. Pure Nissan baby
The 2020 Supra sounds better stock than the 2021.22,23 it seems like they took all the crackles and pops away
I like the price and the simplicity of the Z. You can convert the Z to wireless Carplay/Android Auto with a dongle.
And a few simple suspension modes with tighten things up in the Z for less than the price difference between that and the Zupra.
Nice cars
The new M2 looks like a scion TC. That's not a good thing when you're paying that much money. Supra easily wins between these 3 if you don't need backseats. And overall what you get for your money in the used market, I think last gen M2 takes the crown. However, best bang for your buck that I've been comparing to last gen M2: 2016-2018 camaro 2SS 1LE.
Idk how it looks like a Scion TC and I had one for 8 years

M2 has a bumper so ugly, it ruins the whole front end. Supra is a great car, wrapped in 1700kg of chewed bubblegum. Z doesn't fly so high, in mechanical or visual design, but the others fly too close to the sun.
The Z's V6 is gonna be the worst to work on/modify, for big performance, or when these cars get older.
Im a Z fan, just hate that front end
But man that M2 is killing it all
The style, the power, the look
Aint got no problem own 2 of these!
