I read somewhere that you shouldn't push a round into the chamber with your finger and then let the bolt fly. The bolt needs some resistance by stripping the round from the mag. But nothing happened when you did it so maybe it's an old wives tale. 🤷♂️ My buddy has an M1A with a custom 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. I wonder if small base sizer dies are offered in that round. H4350 is very popular in it. What do you think would be an appropriate powder for the platform? Thanks John!
You are correct that a round should be stripped off the magazine for loading to reduce the risk of "slam fires". It is written in both the Sierra info and the Zedekir article that I mentioned in the video. I did that test with my M1A to see if it fired or left a dimple in the primer. Yeah, the M1A in 6.5 CM is different for the M1A. RCBS does make a small base die in 6.5 CM. I guess S/A adjusted the gas port for the 6.5 CM, so I would stay with standard powders but not the Superformance type of powders or loads. I hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Goos stuff John. One ya dont see many new videos about!!
Yeah, I talked to several shooters that had questions on what to use in their M!As. Take care and have a great day!
