- Process of elimination. Chasing a strange issue with coolant disappearing then will come back after awhile. Not over heating or using any coolant.

The egr cooler on an isx newer than the CM870 is absolutely vital for proper coolant flow to the back 2 cylinder's. Also thought i would mention that your cutting your engine life by atleast 40% by running that fixed vane turbo instead of the VGT, watch and see.
The expanding condoms is only thermal expansion of the remaining coolant in the engine.
Check the make up line (top of radiator to water pump)is clear, especially the end fittings. Any restriction will cause air pockets to become trapped in the system which is what you have. Also check all de-airation lines are fitted and clear.
Thank you for the information and advice! I checked the top airiation tube from the reservoir to the radiator and it was clogged up
Glad I could help. Has it resolved your issues?
Regards Barry (from Darwin Australia)😊
Check your transmission level, the transmission cooler goes bad and drops coolant in the transmission
My truck is in the shop for the exact same reason and it was a cracked head.. specifically cracked in-between the exhaust valves on cylinder 5.
Did you find the problem have the same problem.
Have u figure out your issue because let me tell you my story after i change the water pump from the dealership they say we dont have the old pump anymore u need to get the new style with housing its kinda different when i switched the water pump i start have the problem same as your issues exactly
Now either i have to go back to the old style water pump or loss the side cap little bit and thats what i do i just losee it and tight it with zip tight on side so i dont lose the cap from Vibration
So update, after all that test and experimenting, all was great for about 1800 miles then it started same ol story
Have you tried checking the coolant cap see if its not causing the coolant to boil over u could be seeing steam come out
Good idea but yes, I have replaced both caps twice just to make sure and eliminate much as possible but still continues
Head gasket it happen to me , sometimes was a lot pressure or flat
Sounds like you have air trapped in the system keep your cap off until you get it up to operating temperature !
Good recommendation. I have left it off for 30 minutes idling after running several hours. When I screw the reservoir cap back on the coolant will slowly go down about 1 or 2 inches. Unscrew cap slowly and the coolant will come back. Myself and Kenworth have pulled vacuum on it two time and after about 400 or 500 miles it will do the same old stuff. It's definitely a flow issue. Everything else has been eliminated.
What exhaust manifold, did you use the one from the old ISX?
Yes from older CM570
Is it aftermarket coolant reservoir...i bought oem and it fixed it
It was a aftermarket TRP and I replaced it with a Dorman tank.
Did u fix it ?? Im have the same issue . Plzz assist
Unfortunately not. I have spent countless hours, asked many mechanics and replaced what I could afford trying to eliminate or resolve the issue but it's still haunting me. It still runs good but the pressure it's producing in the reservoir is still baffling many
Hey Randall what was the cause of your problem?
Last week pushing through Nebraska the engine temp started running up to 230⁰ then cool down immediately. Lost for reason, I took gamble and put new radiator on thinking that had clog somewhere. I have flushed several times and had best results with flushing. New radiator from Kenworth and everything checked out good. No gases in coolant, eliminate the air compressor and water pump. 300 miles later coolant is back to fluctuations. I'm convinced it's a coolant flow issue somewhere somehow but the hunt continues. No one knows.
Ok thanks for the update. Mind's just started doing the samething, I'll let you know what I come up with
Still chasing it.
A liner dropped
@@RJ-ow7hl droppe liner was your problem?
Egr cooler . Delete it I had the same problem
This engine doesn't have that issue, but thank you for the recommendation. Still looking
