Love the winter concept, it's always good to embrace where you are in life and what you've got around you. Your self drafted dress are lovely, I'm all for a good pattern hack. 😊
I love your winter concept! Great fabrics, beautiful dresses. I like that you hack patterns and change things up! New subscriber! Thanks for sharing your makes!
You always make me think Sam. I live winter and autumn clothes , not too keen on Jan weather. I really need to plan ahead .Every year I think oh if only I had made such and such it would be ideal for now. With that in mind I am sewing for spring and early spring. So wintry clothes really as I am in Scotland. I am going to try and remember living in the moment and embracing the here and now. Have a great time with Christine.
Great video Sam. I never understood why people don't like winter 😂 I love it. Rain and wind and cold :D I am struggling in summer I definitely prefer sewing winter stuff :D Beautiful makes.
I looked at the article, and it was really interesting. My husband is Norwegian (I'm American, we live in the U.S.), and he's actually just returned from a three week visit. Even living here as long as he has, he seems to easily adapt to being back in Norway, even during winter. I've visited once in winter, and may be doing that again at the end of this year, and I was surprised it didn't affect me more than it did. We were there nearly three weeks. But, we were out most days when there was light outside, and I think the reason so many Scandinavian interiors are light in color might be to help through the dark months. It's all very cozy, there were candles burning nearly every night, if not all of them, and most of the homes I was in were kept quite warm inside. I took warm clothes, and ended up wearing mostly my long-sleeved t-shirts inside, with the sleeves pushed up. They are, generally, quite active people, and they have mastered the art of layering, so they do go out no matter the weather, always prepared for going in and out of the cold.. Although, winter rain is probably the least favorite and most likely to keep outings short. Hygge is pronounce, Heh-gah, or thereabouts. I'm not making clothes just yet, but I really loved making some snuggly scarves (many for gifts) in December, and a matching hat and scarf that I love wearing, and it makes me happy to go out even when it's cold and windy, because I look so darned cute. 🙂 Really enjoyed the content and discussion in this video. Loved all your makes.
I am jealous of your G&G visit. Enjoy. Your self-drafted dresses are all so lovely. I'm not brave enough to try much in the way of hacking or self-drafting. Have fun with your sewing
Oh I love this concept. Maybe this is the first year as a sewist that I’ve actually enjoyed sewing for the winter season. I was wondering yesterday, if I get some more quilted fabric, will I get time to sew it up and wear it this year. Being excited to be in a winter season is a bit mins shift but these little adjustments definitely help. Hope you’re enjoying your virtual sewcial day 🫶🏻😍
I live in Canada, and winter clothing is needed for about 6 months. Luckily I love it, but your comments still resonated with me re others in my family living through it! to get to the weather they like :) I will try to find more ways to make winter special instead of being irritated with them 😂
Love, love the dresses. OMG more inspiration for me. I'm same height as you but much wider!! As we've horrible weather in Ireland today my job is to make a pull on waterproof trousers. Then "nice" sewing 😂. Thanks again
Love your dresses. Just finishing my long version olivia dress from love notions. I have a lot of knit dresses, long and short, for winter. A lot of them in color and patterns. All very comfortable and can wear them at work and at home. Agreeing with you, they bring me joy in cold times.
fab makes, I love the walk boldly pants, really need to get round to making those. Thanks for the info on the onyx as well, I've just made a toile pair this afternoon and they need a bit of tweaking as I want them to be somewhere between the straight and the flare. I think they'll be great once I've nailed the fit though
Hi, Sam, I'm in the process of pulling out all of my fabric and putting it into stash hub, and I have found fabric I didn't even know I had. I also found some repeaters( I bought it twice😅😅😅). Your suggestions have helped me decide on new things. 😅❤😅
Genius idea to make the green ponte a side feature on your trousers. If you do find a forest green ponte please let me know, I've searched high and low. I went for a French terry from 1st for fabrics in the end x
I love sewing cosy winter items and tend to lose my sewjo in August September when I feel there’s no point sewing summer items as they won’t get the wear.
This was such a useful vlog. Thank you so much, cut for the winter blues inspirational Ted talk and it’s great to see the Walk Boldly Pants on someone a little shorter as I’ve been eyeing up that pattern for a while now. Can you remember what sort of fabric/what the fabric was called that came from Legend Textiles? The sold out animal print one? I loved that when Bec recommended it but it was sold out, but if there’s a chance it might be restocked, I’d like to snap it up.

I do enjoy your content. You always have a something (interesting) to say. Ooo love the sparkly fabric. 🤩
Thank you xx
I love Winter and start dreading Spring! 🤣 I also prefer winter clothes and layering.
I used the feel that. I'd find dressing for the summer hard. Especially as then I'd have to think whether I wanted to shave my legs lol.
Such a great episode - loved it!!
Thank you xx
Great video Sam.

Thank you so much. I'd love to go to Norway. I've been to Sweden. It is so useful to hear a different perspective. Xx

Thank you. You comment is something several people have said about not feeling brave to hack. I've been thinking about how I can help with that xx

Thank you Julie. It was a lovely day. I agree it's the little shift in mindset that keep us moving in the right direction.
I love your positive thoughts on the weather and SAD. I suffer from this and am trying hard to get out of this rut
I'm sorry to hearing you are going through this. Lovely to have you visiting my channel xxx

Hello I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I've jair checked and the fabric has sold out again. But I will keep my eye out for you. Xx
Very interesting vlog. What pattern did you use for your black sleeveless jumper?
Thank you so much. It is the Max Tee by chalk and notch
I think you need to make the rise at the back of the blue pants a bit higher and work out how to fix the front crotch extra fabric
Thank you for your suggestion
