That is the one thing that we can all guarantee is.. when we have to go somewhere different the first thing that springs to mind is…. Ooo I have not got anything to wear.. will just have to make something .. as we glide past our burgeoning wardrobes. Great vlog, thank you for taking the time to share
I know exactly what you mean about changing style. I think that happens often when you loose weight. Love the dress the length it is. Looks really nice. See you Sunday!
Life IS for living. And the nice thing about sewing is being able to play around with style. I’ve been trying different things. I’m 72 and refuse to fall into old lady mode 😂 I loved the Indigo dress until I made it. It swamps and balloons around me despite sizing down twice. I’m going to remove the skirt and take out the excess or even try pleats instead. But I do like your new Indigo. It looks nice especially with the shorter length. I admire you for trying out different styles. Happy New Year 🎉
I’ve altered the bodice so many times Hacked the arm holes to use different sleeves and always grade in at the waist to give it more shape I think I use it as a pattern block really now
I love the length of the dress, it makes it zingier (if that’s a word!). I think when you’ve been wearing clothes that skim the body like your tee shirt dresses, you then feel huge when you wear fuller clothes. At least that’s how I feel and can’t bring myself to wear full gathered items!
The blue dress really suits you. I totally get style rethink and agree trying things on in the shops can be inspiring. Be interesting to see how things evolve. I made a more fitted dress for over Xmas period despite me being unhappy with my size (Fabric Godmother peony) and didn’t feel all that confident when I tried it on but wore it a couple of times and had loads of compliments! Has made me rethink too. Lynne
I'm going through a 'vibe change'? at the moment myself. I'm not sure where my style is sort of sitting atm. I definitely think trying on clothes in rtw to see what I'm being pulled towards is a great idea. I've also begun going through my fabric stash and seeing that some pieces just aren't 'vibing' anymore. I love your dress, and the length is 👌❤ I hope you find your vibe going forward. 😊
Hi Alison Indigo looks fab ☺️ I’m having a think about the style of clothes I want to wear 🤔maybe trying a few new things, your tip of going and trying things on in the shops is fab🥰 Have a fab weekend and if you can’t be good be careful 😂🥰
I have the Summer Dreaming book and need to use it more, only made the wrap skirt so thanks for the reminder. The culottes are lovely, have you looked at The Seasons Of East Winter in London pants, great for lighter weight fabrics and an easy make. Happy sewing year🎉🎉 🎉
im a bit lost with my style too. i feel like ive had enough of the billowy dresses and now want something a bit more fitted which ha ha will be a challenge to make as the loose dresses are so easy ive also looked at making some loose trousers………..x
It must be the year for change and stepping out of our comfort zones. I’m going through the same process. Still trying to get my weight fluctuating to just stay put long enough for me to sew clothes that fit. It’s a bugga getting older. Happy New Year to you and yours 🎉🎉🎉
You are on the way to getting slimmer, so you don't really have a particular style yet, until you find the weight you plan to stay at. You do have the idea whether you are casual, classic, girly, boho, natural, etc. and can use that to guide you in what to make, but you won't know what the true complete style is that you like the best on your body shape, until it stops dramatically changing, so just enjoy the process until then and try out whatever takes your fancy. You never know, maybe something you thought in the past, that you couldnt wear, like front pleats on trousers, you will find out that you now love. You have the opportunity to try out different things and see if you like the style right now without having to care that it might not be you, because in a few months, you will likely need to alter it or turn it into something else anyway since it will no longer fit.
I’m really struggling to find my style too! My body shape has completely changed since hitting menopause and I actually look about 7 months pregnant now 😭 I’m living in baggy self drafted cocoon jumpers to try and disguise my tummy. I need to find some clothes that do that but still give me some shape. I like quite an edgy style and like to throw my biker jacket on as it can completely change the look of an outfit. I can see you in the coullottes and cropped jumper, it would suit you well 😄❤️
I totally get this my waist was my best bit and now I feel out of proportion The biker jacket and dress is my go to look I always feel I’m quite cool even though I’m not 😂
@@SewLikeDotty me too! 😂 Not the dress though. I’m more of a jeans and longline top kind of girl. The pattern emporium Bestie Tee is perfect for skimming the tummy, and there are SO MANY options with the pattern. Have a great day Alison 💞💞
I don’t what my vibe is right now either. Working on a fitted button down shirt, because I always loved a classic look, but not even sure it’s the right thing for me.
Most of my makes end up oversized and loose so was interesting to hear how you graded the indigo to be less so, would love to hear of more ways you do that for future patterns ❤
I’m chunkier as I have ever been so changing my style too, not getting away with my usual tight fitting clothes but I’m fine with that. I did laugh out loud when you said you’d added a month to your bodice 🤪 I made that culotte pattern last year and wasn’t impressed but maybe it was the fabric I used 🤷♀️
Love being a pattern insider but I justc2ant to make everything and not enough time lol. The siena and ravello dresses are on the list with an amelia jacket. Love your indigo. What sunmer ball are you going to? We've looked at the sew toon dates but the ones we could make are fully booked already 😢. Hopefully we'll (me and my sis, Jen) will bump into you this year x
Yeah I was the same lost weight then thought mmm not sure these patterns are still what I want to wear. Then was struggling to find what I wanted. I think because I had to wear certain things because of my shape I then wanted to embrace a whole new wardrobe! And you look fabulous 😍 love the culotte look go for it xxx

Terrible isn’t it 😂
Good morning,
You have a lot of character, which is why I follow you.
Enjoy your day🙌🏾
Thank you! You too!
Love the indigo you have made and the fabric, I do love a Tilly and the buttons patterns! One of my favourites is the billy X
I love TATB too
I know exactly what you mean about changing style. I think that happens often when you loose weight. Love the dress the length it is. Looks really nice. See you Sunday!
Oooo I forgot you were coming 🥰

I think the shorter version of the indigo dress is very flattering on you!
Thank you - I wore it yesterday and I e decided I like it

Hi Dottie! We are well now. The dress 👗you are wearing is pretty.
Thank you! 🤗

I bet you felt a million dollars when you got those compliments Lynne

Love that!
The shorter Indigo dress looks great on you Alison. Not a pattern I've made yet! Maybe that could change after seeing yours!!
Give it a go 😊
I love the dress you have on. I think we all look better in fitted or semi fitted clothing.
It’s change is t it and we take time to adapt
Interesting to hear about your changing style. I’m pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying new styles and looks too ❤
You can do it!
I think that indigo looks perfect Alison. You are right, when our shape changes, we have to reassess our wardrobes to match. 😊
So true!
👏🏻👗
Love the shorter Indigo, it looks fab. Funnily enough Linda and I were just talking about style at Sew Toon the other day.
Think I just need to get used to it x

Yes!
Totally - aren’t we lucky to have the skills to adapt and make the changes

@Craftytutu you too I’m off to sew toon x
Love your dress ❤
Thank you 😊

I’ve made things in the past because others were then put it on and thought why did I make this I was never going to suit it 🤦♀️
@@SewLikeDotty I have thought about having a style analysis done, but not sure because some days I can’t even tell you what I like. 😁

My mum was a machinist so I was always being fitted into clothes inside out so that’s what I do
Pin or Clip the fabric while wearing it inside out
Ooh love your indigo 😍 got me wanting to re try it now.. i struggle with the tatb block
I think I’ve adjusted it loads but I’ve got it right now

Ask Tamlyn to go on a waiting list for certain dates people do cancel x
@@SewLikeDotty oo thank you I will x
That fabric is so beautiful, is it Liberty?
No it was from dots and stripes it’s a cord but beyond the pink door had it recently

Well done you it’s a fab achievement even if it leads to head scratching on what to wear
Some highwaisted culottes would look great with cropped style top. You can also do cropped culottes and wear with doc Martin style boots.
I’m liking this c
xXX❤❤❤
Love the look of those culottes. I think they could look great on you. 😊
Oh thank you!
