You were kiiiinda resting(leaning on the gaff, not pulling, when you had the fish gaffed next to the boat, then your buddy came over and popped him off your gaff with his gaff, but he hit bone or something and it kicked the fish up and off your gaff.
This is what happened. 2nd shot popped the first shot off the gaff. You have to let those fish settle into a circle and break their will. Gaffing hot fish is asking for it.
@@elgatodiablo6650 yea he only fought for like 5 minutes. But at the same time with big fish like that you can’t just play with them and baby them in. I think this stuff just happens when you catch a lot of fish
@@primetimesportfishing6569 I hear ya. Just personally, I take my time especially with the big ones, gotta get em straight up and down. I respect that you got em to the rail that fast, but that's a dangerous game hitting fish that hot. Patience with the big ones, settle em in...break their will.
@@elgatodiablo6650 yea, well most of the time on the big boys you can’t even muscle them in 😂. That’s why when he got it to the boat that quick we thought it was much smaller. Well we learned our lesson
Dude I absolutely love watching your Epic fishing video's!!! You and your dad , are so cool headed !! Only thing I would say for tuna that big 200-220 , having a spear type gaff ?? You guys have all the bad ass gear , rods , long gaffs on that beautiful Parker! I'm not talking from personal experience , but from watching wicked tuna shizal ? I do fish and have caught 60lb but not anything that big, ever on my boat. Thanks sharing your epic videos , hey man also dig how you teach family members how to go it right! Million Likes , tight lines to both you and your cool dad!!
id spear that thing if its too big and let it run more lol tunas depending on size will go to the boat 3 to 5 times and back... once they do the circle of death when coming up thats when its time to get them as they are worn out . fish was still trying to spit the hook out too means its still has a lot of energy
@@primetimesportfishing6569 lol yeah you power reeled that horse in lol... lesson learned.. let the rod and the drag of the reel do the work wear out the fish and hold on..i been fishing for over 23+ years caught lots of tuna and im looking to get on that 200 pounder .. caught mostly 20 to 100+ pounders.... heck even the 40 to 50 pounder run like if they are 80 to 100 pounds.... this tunas pack power .... next time youll get it just be safe not worth breaking your fingers and arm or being take down in and who knows if the gaf might get you..
@@thatonebeone oh wow! Thank you for your experienced insight! We were just trying to get that fish in the boat as fast as possible! All the other tuna we’ve caught were long fights and the fish came into gaff nicely. Makes sense! Thanks again!
At least it was bled well. Fishing out of Venice, LA once my buddies and I hooked 4 up to 200 lb. Tuna and got all 4 up to the boat but none in the boat. Our charter captian turned out to be poorly rigged, had no tuna door, and we straighten out his gaff on the first one. After the first I asked him to retie the hook as the linr was crimped at the hook and he said no it wasn't necessary. Of course the 2nd tuna broke off at the hook while next to the boat. 3 and 4 were also disasters all thanks to him.
@@OneOut1 oh noooo! It was just one of those days, seems like everything is going wrong! Glad you hooked some fish though! Thanks again for watching 🙏🏽
Damn! Nothing you could do, but possibly have the boat in gear to keep it swimming. Who knows if that would of worked, but great effort on holding as best you could.
Thank you sir! Yea what we have learned is that we need a bigger gaff and to gaff em where it hurts like the belly to flip em over. Thanks for checking my video out!!
That BFT was still smokin hot at the gaff!! Great vid! Tight lines!
Thanks man! Yea that dude still had lots of life in him!
Bro congrats on your fishing adventure tanks for posting your videos I’ll like them all
That gaff shot was insane! Last time out my buddy went in the drink after a fish pulled him in with the gaff. They're so powerful
I don’t know how I didn’t do the same!!! The strength these fish have is unmatched! Thanks for watching man
That was nuts!!! Cool video 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you so much man! Glad you enjoyed watching!!!
Those fish are no joke! You held onto that gaff like a champ lol
Haha thank you man!!! The power is like no other 🐟
Dude I found your vid scrolling through yt, that was insane! Would love to also see a review of that beautiful parker 😍

That’s awesome video, we had the same issues (gaffing)with these monsters
I think it’s pretty common for them to go crazy like that at the gaff. But I’m glad you enjoyed the video!!

Skewwww awesome bro 🔥
Thank you man, I really appreciate it!!!
gotta get it on its side and gaff the belly. It goes in shock and will not fight. headshot just pisses them off.
I learned my lesson haha! Yea I’ve heard you gotta get them just under their head like in the heck area so u can flip em over! Thanks for watching man
Pops screwed up on the follow up gaff. Shit happens.
It is what it is! 😫
At least we have a crazy story to tell now 🤣
@@primetimesportfishing6569 yeah glad you safe tho brodie.

Dawg you gotta lay em out on their side and let the circle at the boat. U don’t have to rush for the gaff shot. Great vid tho!
When I gaffed em he was like right there and looked like we was getting tired so I thought he was ready to come in! 😂
Thanks for watching man!
Great vid you guys ! What make and year Parker is that please ?
Thank you sir! It’s a 2016 Parker 2520
That fish wasn’t ready
He for sure didn’t wanna come in the boat 😂
Invest in a good flying gaf it's a much safer option on large fish
great job but thats a flying gaff fish right there ..
Yup your 100% right on that one! Didn’t realize how important it is to have the right size gaff hook for the big boys. Thanks for watching!

You needed a third person there to help with the gaff. Those big fish are mean, they take advantage of any flaw, at any time.
Yea if we had two gaffs in him right away we coulda held him! Thanks for watching man!
What rod and reel did you use for jigging?
I was using the Penn International 30VISX with a Seeker OSP 1x3
@@primetimesportfishing6569 thank you, great video👍🏽
More like 100lbs, definitely not 200. It just seemed bigger because your ego was hurt 😂
It was more like 150lb, it seemed bigger in the moment, camera doesn’t do it justice. But thanks for watching man!
