  • I've been having issues with the fuel flow through the Holley Sniper EFI, so I decided to replace the internal fuel pressure regulator with an inline adjustable fuel pressure regulator

Thanks for this video. With all the talk about fuel pressure problems I want to just bypass the Holley pressure regulator before I even put this new engine in. Question for you is all I have to do is take the regulator out and attach my return line to the same port with my 6an fitting?

I'm unclear whether you removed the original internal fuel P regulator. Several U-Boob videos remark on powder coat paint afflicting pressure.
I installed an inlet fuel pressure gage which read 58PSI and a return line gage which read 4PSI. I read somewhere, but now on reflection can't find it in the Startup Guide, that outlet pressure should be no more than 4 👍But it still ran like carp; perhaps, because the return line had not yet been installed.
1st chosen mechanic and Sniper knowledgeable , Taylor Automotive of Sterret AL, had the truck for 3 months and didn't accomplish squat, zero.
2nd mechanic, Revis Auto of Wilsonville AL, changed out the fuel pump 1st thing before half-ass installing return line; leaving it plugged off. The truck had already been there for 2 months so I decided I'd try for a 3rd so-called Sniper mechanic; and, I limped the 1/2 mile home.
3rd mechanic, Vintage Garage, Childersburg AL, again changed out fuel pump, that's the 3rd one over the course of less than 2 miles combined. Clearly as it is standard practice in AL to change fuel pumps regardless, and they added a return line regulator. Now return line pressure is up at 85, repeat 85PSI. 1970 CST-10 runs worse than rotten carp; and, now it is for sale.

I did remove the built-in pressure regulator, and the inline regulator certainly seemed to help, for awhile, and my return runs back into the tank. I had other issues, however, which were addressed in following videos, but I now have it all resolved and runs great.
Don't sell the truck! Are you running a stock fuel tank? How is your return routed? Does it run better when the tank is more full?
I ask these questions because these were all things I dealt with. It was just a process to get everything dialed in a working right

@@MoonBuiltGarage Stock Fuel tank with 1972 return line regulator installed
@Revis Auto. Why they returned truck with return plug is unknown. Stock steel supply line used as return and 3/8 rubber supply line from external pump to Sniper.
IAC starts > 15 then drops to 0%, somewhere > 160 CST and idle jumps to 15-1800 rpm.
Understanding Sniper not for everyone but this POS has me furious with Holley.
Latest mechanic, Vintage Garage, installed 0-100PSI gage after outlet and initially set to 85PSI; stated. internal regulator did not exist in updated model. Replaced perfectly good regulator and pump @ $135 each. Note the Sniper was install 2019 with Atomic pump; subsidiary Holley. I lowered to 58PSI and still IAC actions (1800RPM) above resulted. Can't express how angry at myself the experience has been.
Have also Atomic EFI for sale. Didn't fit manifold pattern, too late to return.

Last real money wagered was Sugar Futures decades ago and lost big. Holley Sniper costing nearly as much.

@@gooberminther3tik25 Looks like you IAC is not adjusted properly. Check out ruclips.net/video/V8DtYkMXa4U/видео.htmlsi=3hyncUmIkwbry1WH for a good explanation on how to adjust it. Where is your external pump? Extrenal pumps should be as low as possible in relation to the bottom of the fuel tank, but even then they can still have problems pulling the fuel up-and-out of the tank, that's why I added a sump to my tank. Once I added the sump my fuel pump instantly stopped working hard to pump the fuel. Also, do you have a filter before the pump? You should if you don't...the one I had installed saved my pump once, even though it had gotten completely clogged, it still kept all that junk from going into my pump.

Did yours have any powdercoat in the housing? Did you just replace the internal regulator, or did you go the external route?
