Serb soldiers posted along Yugoslavia's border with Albania say they are ready and waiting to defend their country against any incursion by NATO troops.
An A-P-T-N crew visited the soldiers posted near the town of Djakovica, who insist they will protect the Yugoslav people at all costs.
But just outside Pristina, a metals factory was ablaze on Thursday in the wake of the latest NATO airstrike.
NATO warplanes also pounded targets across Serbia and Montenegro, even as Russia pitched a new peace plan to end the conflict.
The Yugoslav border post at Deva, located near the town of Djakovica in Kosovo.
Serb soldiers posted here are on the frontline against a NATO ground assault that some analysts say is becoming increasingly likely.
An A-P-T-N crew was allowed to visit the area on Thursday, accompanied by Serb officials.
There they found soldiers who say they are "defending" their homeland against a possible attack from across the Albanian border.
SOUNDBITE: (Serbo-Croat)
"I have been here since December on this border point at Deva. We don't have any problems. There have been no incursions (from Albania). Everything is OK. I want to tell the people of Yugoslavia not to be scared. As long as we are on the border they will live safely."

The senior officer in charge, who refused to give his name, spoke of his unit's determination to repel any attempted NATO invasion.
SOUNDBITE: (Serbo-Croat)
"We are now at this border posting Deva. It is under the command of the Djakovica army unit and we are protecting the state border towards Albania. As you can see the border posting has not been taken over. As long as army is here it won't be."

But while soldiers were at the ready at the Deva post, NATO jets pounded locations across Serbia and Kosovo.
One target was the Kombinat Feronikl factory at Glogovac, located 30 kilometres (20 miles) west of Pristina.
Gunfire could be heard thundering in the distance, hitting an unseen target as black smoke billowed from the factory.
The Kombinat Feronikl site was allegedly hit twice by 11 separate missiles, the first attack at 1200 G-M-T, the second at 1300 G-M-T.
The Serb-run Media Centre reported that the factory produces iron and nickel compounds.
NATO insists all its targets are military or military related.
