  • Olney is a neighborhood in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. It is roughly bounded by Roosevelt Boulevard to the south, Tacony Creek to the east, Godfrey Avenue to the north, and the railroad right-of-way west of Seventh Street to the west.
This is a cleaner neighborhood in Philadelphia but it has a high crime rate.

Dangit! Video ended JUST as you turned on my block! LOL Great nostalgia, though. My school (Lowell), my church (St. Paul's) my friends houses, "The Rec" and of course, 5th Street! That was a way better block back in the 70's. You could find whatever you wanted/needed in those few blocks, (McDonald's; Record stores; Library; clothing stores; Woolworths; Pharmacies; shoe stores; barber shops; PIZZA; deli's; fabric ... you name it, it was probably there!)
We walked to school every day (from 6th and Godfrey to 5th and Nedro), taking the park or going down 5th from Spencer. Many days we stopped at Schenk's bakery for the most delicious donuts EVER! We sled in Fisher's park every winter and for years went to day camp or joined the tennis team there, too.
It was magical growing up there in the 70's. Made the best friends (still have most of them) and made the best, longest lasting memories 💚
Thank you for this trip down memory lane!

I used to live and work in North Philly forever, until I moved to the burbs. Philly is definitely the "City of Neighborhoods". Thanks for the narration of the various home styles and facades. You are very knowledgeable about Philly. Some of the pronunciations of the streets are a little off, though. lol

I grew up at 5th and Olney in the 90s and my heart is still there!!! I went to Lowell!! Omg u went on widener street! That place on the corner was the candy store we walked to!! You literally stopped right in front of my old boyfriends house!!! :(
Olney was super diverse and crime does not come from minorities moving in… :( it’s the people in power who don’t give a crap about the people who live there! :( then the people who care move out, and the ones who don’t, move in. :(
Thank you for doing this video!

Especially with the social distancing required right now I’m not looking forward to being locked in a car with anyone lol. I actually had 4 other people comment that on a few of my most recent videos. Not that they wanted to start a channel but that they wanted to pick me up and me to show them around and narrate. I pretty much told them the same thing. I’ll pass...
However feel free to start your RUclips channel. Takes 5 minutes to start one using a email account and all you need is a camera. The rest is history. ❤️🙏🏼 I wish you much luck on your endeavors. If you need any reference I have over 1000 videos on my channel and over 200 of them are tours covering all sections of the city.
