by the way, if anyone cares, the Wingdings is just gibberish ("ugwwijvbndmb"), there's no hidden joke. I'm not sure why I expected it to be anything but it wasn't.
I remember wingdings being a font on Microsoft Word that turned all your words into weird symbols.

I totally remember "read my flappin' lips". I remember being a kid thinking "That's a line you've gotta use" and then completely forgetting about it for most of my life. Glad I didn't create another cringey childhood memory
I never understood why everyone thought it was like dorky that she came from space. I guess maybe in the future it's weird or something, but i feel like kids would actually think that was cool and want to know everything about it.
They probably could have made Earth humans thinking space humans are dorks work, but the writers would have had to delve deeper than they likely wanted. I know some Sci-Fi stories have it Class-based with Earth-dwelling humans being at the top of the political and social food chain, and the people who have taken to living in space being considered second class citizens. But that'd require refocusing "Zenon" in a VERY different direction than the one it took.
In the movie world, everyone has to be in a strict category and you can't change your caste unless you're the main character. In the real world, you go through so many phases growing up that you have been a little of each category by the time you're an adult. In my childhood, the people that thought science was nerdy were art nerds, or baseball card nerds. No one is a true Chad as it turns out.

I assume it’s similar to if your elementary or middle school teacher stood you up in front of class and announced that you were going to space camp at NASA! It’s seen as a geeky thing to kids.

Ian is looking so good in the first outfit from his "business lingerie" fashion line. I really dig that Barney inspired color scheme.
The ironic thing about her not being able to swim is that in some aspects being on a spacewalk is a lot like being in water, to the point where NASA used a swimming pool to train astronauts for the Space Shuttle. If she can go on an EVA just fine, she should be able to swim... though I suppose on an EVA you're usually tethered to the spaceship.
Well swimming is about propelling yourself through water through displacement. In space you don't have to create your own thrust
And still able to breathe
swim through the water maybe, but stay above the surface and not drown probably not so much

Imagine a theme park where each section is a different decades depiction of the far future like a 50s future, 70s future, 90s future and 2010s future.
Note i feel like every other decade works a little better as there was always some blure between each decade.

To be fair I've met people in there 30s who've never seen snow, and upon seeing and feeling it for the first time remark "it's cold".
I had a similar situation the first time I saw a palm tree in person.
I'm 30, and I have yet to experience snow personally. I'd love to someday
korohacker as a born and raised Ohio state person, snow is neat for about a week and then it’s a pain in the ass. Shoveling, driving, heating bills, scraping your car off. Best experience with it is vacationing in a snowy mountain for a few days and then going home. You’ll have much better memories that way. Plus side: less bugs.

This movie was on television while I was waiting for the Jiffy Lube guys to change the oil on my truck. The volume was low, and was nearly washed out by the constant hum of the nearby confectionery machines. Time was standing still.
Anyway, I wasn't sure it was a real movie until I watched this video. Thanks for the video.

One day during my 9th grade Biology class back in early 2000's, we were talking about Single-celled organisms and my teacher mentioned "Protozoa". A girl in my class let out an audiable gasp and shouted out "ZEDIS LAPEDIS!" She quickly put her hand over her mouth and everybody stared at her. She then had to explain what Zenon was and why Protozoa made her yell that out. That was an interesting day.

I was 6 in 1999, totally into pop stars, and LOVED the 90s/Y2K aesthetic for the future, so as you can imagine Zenon made a huge impact on me. Zenon basically projected what I thought the new millennium was going to eventually look like. I really thought I would be able to travel to space and I loved how diverse, peaceful, and fun everything looked. then 9/11 happened and my dream of experiencing this future within my lifetime sadly faded away :')

I remember this movie being inescapable for a portion of my childhood. it was like half the year was reruns and commercials of Zennon and the other half was halloween town

God, I remember after first watching the premier of this movie back in '99, I DESPERATELY wanted to mimick Protozoa's ridiculous haircut, formed into little individual Hershey's Kiss-shaped spikes, each of it with silver frosted tips. But the silver frosted tips more than anything. GOD I wanted frosted tips lololol. God fuck the very late-90s were an absolute shitshow when it came to fashion. Truly. I never wound up getting the frosted tips, as they went WAY out of style less than a few months after this "film" came out. And it was for the best, quite frankly.
But yeah, I have strong memories of watching this movie and some light aspects of its overall æsthetic and absolutely nothing else about it. Though seeing clips of the climax here kinda jogged my memory tbh. Probably because I was always paying most attention when Protozoa was on screen, imagining myself with his epic hairstyle and kickin' fresh outfits. Why did 5 year old me watch this garbage though? Well, both because I had nothing better to do...and because Disney Channel MASTERFULLY advertised the premier of this piece of shit as an absolute CAN'T MISS EVENT. Something that they expertly did with all the old Disney Channel OG Flickerinos.

First Zenon is great! Zenon is such a rambunctious self motivated person living as fully as her endless energy allows. Then again she is vulnerable and naive. Quite an adventure with lots of characters in the first one.
Sadly, magic struck once with this series, some liked them, but the sequels got little traction.
Nevertheless so pleased the 1999 original got so much traction here in 2021!
