The first Star Wars is episode 4. The fourth Math Blaster is episode 1.
Craig Bayfield Well, I mean, the fourth Star Wars is episode 1 as well, so it kinda fits.
And it has a Star Trek reference on it. The madmen!
They rhyme, it's like poetry.
And what's 4-1? 3. What has 3 sides? A triangle. And what goes in a triangle? An all seeing eye. Illuminati confirmed.
what's 4-1? 3. HALFLIFE 3 CONFIRMED!
I believed you about the poop, Ian. I believed you. And now I'm sad.
Oh hai. o3o
Oh, I didn't know Caddy's daughter had a youtube channel.
Rithmatist what?
You're awesome, Scarfulhu!
John Squarez WHAT?! DAD
"Spot...Spot? (Shrugs) Hmm."
That's probably the best intro to an edu-tainment game I've ever seen.
Haha, looks like we're both covering games we picked up that same day at PRGE. Nothing like a good convention to get yourself psyched to cover some '90s PC goodness.
Is it possible to OD on said 90's goodness? Because if so, you're enabling me. And I like it.
I love you.
I envy you both!
Imagine archaeologists finding that certificate in 200 years.
"Wait, a colour print out for a videogame in 1923?"
Thus, the future's history was forever falsified. Its people lead to believe a lie at the hands of a youtuber.
I could have used a Print screen function to Grab the certificate and altered it to the present year
There's this common misconception that video games where invented around the late 70s early 80s of the 1900s, but now new archeological evidence proves that video games, were around as early as the 1920s, about 60 years earlier than previously thought!
I feel bad for historians trying to figure out anything in the 2000s at this point. And I'm a historian.
Annie Beguhl what happened today is a question nobody wants to know the answer to at this point
I remember playing this in the school computer lab, damn those were the times
No joke, this game turned me into a math god in elementary and middle school. even beating my teachers in a quickest-time type test of multiplication. Some of them thought I was cheating and had me sit alone in a corner where they could watch and make sure I wasn't cheating....I still got 100% correct and finished the test minutes before any other student. This game changed my life and I will never...ever..forget it.
Holy shit, I remember playing this at my dads work back in the day... Woah what a nostalgia trip. Thanks for this dude.
Ian can speak while moving his lips in a totally different way. Next level ventriloquist.
Way to go Ian.
youtube commenter, stay in school
At first I thought this was going to be a series of math blaster videos
also blasternaut sounds like sonic blast man
Does he fight for freedom?
I still thought it was going to be until reading this comment.
So...thank you.
Saved me some confusion.
"I'm not sure how to say this... different maths?"
You mean different operations?
Assailant Just don't show him •
8:20 so how do we get the good ending?
You have to not kill anyone.
Dang it! I messed that up, can I restart?
AdaptiveReasoning
Just hit that handy RESET button! =)
Try watching the video again in New Video + mode.
Kenpokid4 I like these undertale references lol
damn boi, I remember staying in class during recess just to play this game. It was my jam
you mean you'l jam your jam, when your jam is jamming?
youtube commenter Really? Just because I spelt 'Boy' as 'boi' SMH
youtube commenter "due to poor spelling"
Dang, it's wild that we're closer to the day that Ian's computer was set to now than the day this video released
The Y2K bug in this is amazing, the only time I've ever seen that happen.
You don't have to worry about looking stupid in front of the internet, Ian. You do that every day!
Also, it'd be different operations. I'm a huge math nerd.
Actually, I think different maths sounds better.
Linkaru no
I remember playing this as a kid :D Best day at school when the teacher let us play this.
Anime America I love your channel
JumpStart episode any time soon?
+Soprano Cicada what about Nightmare Ned?
holy fuck yes! That was my childhood!
Nightmare Ned would make a good Televoid Episode
Mathieu Leader yep
Sherman Brown
Brad Garrett voiced the dad aka Robert from Everybody Loves Raymond.
Holy crap, I remember this! My 4th grade teacher once showed us to us! The whole time I was watching this, the memories were starting to light up. This existed as a foggy memory, but the intro stuck with me.
1:01
You should have said "It really nails the balance of doing math and having a BLAST."
*que live audience laughter*
"There's just something about that dump, man. It's nostalgic." - ien 2016
I will decode that secret ending with my lip-reading abilities!!
...of which I now know I have none
I used to play this all the time in school. SO glad to see it again after all these years.
Hey Ian. I know you were having some struggles not too long ago with thinking you weren't delivering jokes well enough, and I saw that come through briefly in this episode, specifically at 3:14 when you said "I don't know, I thought it was funny." The fact of the matter is, it is funny, and your own sense of humor shines through in that moment. You're clearly very sarcastic and have a sharp wit. Be proud of that!! Be confident, my friend. You are a genuinely funny guy. Don't let us know you thought it was funny, show us how it's funny, because it is!! You're such an underappreciated content creator, but fuck it. Keep on making the content you do and please never stop believing in yourself.
His new icon depicts my usual expression when I wake up in the morning
I remember having a crush on that green alien girl. Good times.
I think it's so cool Ian found a niche to fill among gaming youtubers with retro gaming/TV show reviews. It's also awesome that he made that the aesthetic of his channel, what with the grainy filters and music in the outro.
I used to play the heck out of math blaster, all the lil secret bits were cool
If i could blast math...
I would be a math terrorist.
Nate Wec teachers will hunt you down!
you would best at it
would you be charged with having weapons of math instruction?
DragnSly math to the extreme
If we don't solve these equations he's gonna blow us all to hell!
(cookies to whoever gets that youtube channel reference)
We've had enough edutainment for now. I think it's time for 'Ian Plays Another Sex Game'.
Agreed
supergurukid like 69
supergurukid yep its about time
Ian said on his tumblr that he might do another sex game if people stopped asking for them, so you're only delaying it.
Of course, the catch 22 with that is that it requires youtube commenters to listen.
Ever since I subscribed, this series was one I was just waiting for you to tackle. Mathblaster and Reader Rabbit were my jam back in the 90s. Thanks for sharing in my nostalgia!
I remember playing this game on a Mac all in one in elementary school. This brought back some great nostalgic feelings. Great video!
Spill the beans, Ian. What was the ending going to be?
It was him taking a space dump
One game that I loved from my childhood was Zoombinis. I'm sure few have heard of them.
Me too!
Scarfulhu did a review on them! I'm sure you will enjoy it! HIP HIP! ZOOOOMBIIIIINI!
ZOOMBINIS WAS MY JAM
hip hip
ZOOMBINI
It took a LONG while, but at long last Brutalmoose is covering a game that I actually remember playing as a child.
My hour has come
My favorite early childhood game covered by my favorite youtuber?? I really needed this today. Thank you, Ian.
It sucks that his original ending didn't work out. I would've liked to see what it was.
Maybe a deaf person who reads lips could tell us?
Zadamanim as the yobis spelling demons episode showed, that might not work
The word you were looking for when you said "maths" was "operations", as in "the order of operations".
Man. The nostalgia hit me hard with this one. I remember playing this when I was like 5 or 6 years old. Great video, Ian!
I haven't played this game in so long but watching this video had memories flooding back
Review the Jumpstart series!
Alex Shor YES
Alex Shor and the online game!
I remember being scared of Jumpstart 4th grade when I was younger lol
GamingDude800 the server is still up
***** There were servers?
Mavis Bacon *sigh*
...Number Munch
This...this tastes like Egoraptor...
I remember doing Mavis Beacon. I thought it was alright...EXCEPT FOR THOSE DUMB SYMBOL EXCERCISES! Seriously, I know the program wants to be good at typing everything, BUT WHO WRITES LIKE THIS? WHAT PRACTICAL USE DO THOSE SPECIFIC EXERCISES HAVE? If anyone else did that program, I'm sure they understand what I'm saying.
*****
I hated the recommended hand positioning. I type better when my hands go where they need
_Beacon*_
Watching this on October 19, 2023. 6 days away from the the prophecy date!
I am pretty sure I played this game when I was younger and I am so happy you reviewed it. Thanks so much for another amazing video, Ian. I also remember played the Math and Reading Blaster games. I believe it was Math Blaster 4-6 and Reading Blaster 6-9.
I wonder what he was actually saying
I noticed that the garbage that resembled coke was called "joke"
Remember, kids, coke is no joke
Math Blaster was my favorite educational game as a kid. I loved playing it both at school, and at home.
Oh my, I played this many times as a kid on the old family Compaq, thanks for the memories.
i remember playing this game in elementary school.
MarkSamurai5 Same! Cool to see a game I actually remember playing.
Ayathesp This is also the first time I hear voice overs for this game as well lol
Answering basic math questions to activate warp drive? Sounds a lot like my phone, actually.
There's an option on Android phones to turn off your alarm with basic math questions, to make sure you're actually awake.
Holy moly really? Where is it and how can I turn it on please?
Natsu La Smileuse It should be in the clock app, under alarms.
SoloMael Hmm I really don't see it.. What phone do you have? I'm gonna look it up on Google
Math Blaster was my JAM back in the day! My friends in the Home School scene passed this one around like an offering plate at church. I played it farrr more than I should have 😂 couldn’t afford to buy any of the other installments back in the day, though, so this was the only experience I had with the franchise.
Another hit from the past. Thanks moose
love your outro song
Probablilitor: *MATH RAY*
If you know the reference you are my new friend
Soprano Cicada hello new friend
Emily Cheint Yay! :D
NightVisions ye
I summon the Imposi-Beast!
Your math is no match for my gun, you idiot!
Holy shit you recently had a massive quality spike. This channel became one of my favorites.
Woaaah this brings back SO many good memories. I loved this game in elementary school! Fantastic video
Is anyone here a lip reader?
I BEAT THIS! I LOVED MATH BLASTER!!! 1:30 Yep. But this IS the sane one I played...And beat all 6 levels.
Oh gosh, I played so much of this game on our MS Dos computer when I was a kid. What a nostalgia trip!
Man I play this a lot back in the day what a nice trip down memory lane
Would it really have been that hard to rerecord the ending? Or did it get changed for reasons other than faulty sound recording?
Bootleg Jones Nah man, things fell through. Probably means his computer fell through a vortex or something
man i hate it when i'm editing videos and my computer just suddenly falls through a vortex
really just ruins my day, ya know
"John Freeman turned on off his computer"
*computer becomes black hole*
+starman164 I can see brutalmoose saying that.
Anyone know the name of the outro song?
I remember this. One of my favorite educational games I played in elementary school.
Thank you for your content...the nostalgia made me cry happy tears! These games remind me of when my mom was alive
It's like I'm reliving 1st/2nd grade all over again... ...I feel so old .__.
Handsome Hunk Hill lol
Holy shit, you need to get that poor man some burn cream.
Lmao!
I mis-read this as meth blaster.
Been waiting for Mathblasters since the Super Solvers review made me go back and play Gizmos and Gadgets some more, brings back a lot of memories of the computer lab as a kid.
OMG! Nostalgia overload! Forgot all about this game until I played the video.
I don't like how they refer to the three-eyed alien as a "trash alien". Seems pretty racist.
Confetti Lol
Insert Trump joke of your choosing here.
Insert independent joke nobody cares about of your choosing here.
Locke Silvrel All of these jokes make me dribble.
Man these jokes are great, they are exactly my kind of humor.. it's like I got to pick them all by myself.
OMG I played the master blasters or whatever it's called. We learned about spelling and junk
JayN3rd That was called "Reading Blaster"
I had science blaster, math blaster, (a different one), and reading blaster which sucked. Which is funny since I'm an English major and suck at math.(Math Blaster was the best of the three).
I used to adore playing the Math Blaster: Ages 6-9 version of the game and all of the demos that it came with. Pure love there. :3
I played this game to death 25 years ago and all of these sounds are triggering flashbacks to when my mom was still alive, pestering me to play the game to improve my math. Thank you brutal moose. I needed this.
4:48 The phrase you're looking for is "different operators"
"[...] one of - if not my favorite - *convention* to attend." Uh oh, Grammar Nazi inbound.
7:07 - As foretold... Math Blaster is real.
I fondly remember playing this game. The recycling game and the Cave Jet Pack game were my favorite parts
someone forgot to unmute their mic?
But computers didn't even exist in 1900.
youtube commenter insecure much ?
*****
Yes, we did.
Mega Math Blasters was my jam back in 1st grade.
I still remember that weird goop monster thing that took Spot. The way it sort of assimilated him has still tuck by me to this day, mostly because no one in class could finish the game
The nostalgia hit me hard. Thanks Ian!
Watching this in 2023 😂
Oh, man! The nostalgia!!! My lil sis and I used to play this all the time!!!
This really seems to be a perfect example of how a edutainment game should be.
Also: Congrats on improving your camera filmed segments, just as you wished to do sometime ago on twitter. You really did a good job in this video. Keep up the work, it pays off!
This is one of the few computer games I was allowed as a kid...so many fond memories.
I remember playing this a bunch at school as kid. So good. :)
This is the EXACT one I played in school as a kid. The nostalgia hit me hard.
This game and Episode 2 (Secret of the Lost City) were my jam. Loved those games.
I love you Ian, im glad you found some more games to show us! Keep doing what you do :)
God, I played this version in kindergarten and I LOVED IT TO DEATH!! So many good memories, man :D
Omfg. This was such a blast of Nostalgia to me. I played this so much in school.
That song!
Oh all those memories when I had that game (when I was little of course)
Oh man.... I remember this.. the sound of the engine failing tripped me out so hard
OMG, I totally forgot this game until just now. Seeing it now for the first time since the 90's feels like a dream haha.
I remember playing Math Blaster in Elementary School. And I liked it so much that I got the ages 6-9 remake for my home computer. Nowadays, I don't have the game anymore, but I do remember the fun times I had with it. Even if the levels did become difficult to get through.
Goodness me, another memory from my grade school computer lab. It was fun remembering!
I loved Math Blaster, I grew up playing the newer repackaged version, and it was super fun
thank you for bringing back a memory i forgot i had. i played this game in the computer lab in middle school!!
I played so much Math Blaster and Clue Finders during my summer vacations as a kid! I was kind of mad that I had to LEARN during break at first, but I actually didn't mind it because those games are fun.
I grew up on Math Blasters but was almost convinced it was a fever dream for years!
"Even though it says Episode 1, it's really the fourth game"
WAIT A MINUTE THIS IS STAR WARS IT EVEN HAPPENS IN SPACE
