Math Blaster Episode I: In Search of Spot

- And now, I bring you a video that's actually has a plot! For weeks now I've been giving you videos of my musical projects in Cubase. I remixed songs, covered them, and put my own spin on them, even throwing in minor compositions of my own. Not anymore! After this video, I have other video goals that don't involve Cubase.
Anyway, let me explain what this is. "Math Blaster Episode I: In Search of Spot" was a video game released in October 1994 for computers (Windows and Macintosh) and the SNES. What you see here is the Windows version. The game's title is presumably a combined reference to Leonard Nimoy's former television series "In Search of..." (which ran from 1976 to 1982) and the 1984 film "Star Trek III: The Search for Spock."
Made by Davidson & Associates, this game is actually pretty decent. I would tell you more about it, but you can get the info you want on Wikipedia (the article title is the same as this video's title), and it even has its own IMDb page: www.imdb.com/title/tt1555838/
In some ways, I suppose, this video is like the "Let's play ____" videos floating around RUclips, except that I don't offer my narration. What you're watching is my actual gameplay. I recorded the screen action and the audio at the same time, and then edited out some parts to make it all fit within ten minutes. I offer more specific comments within the video through annotations, so read those if you so choose.

Hey Hey... this is crazy seeing this here! I was on the design team! (actually came up with the Cave Runner concept)... Thanks for posting. Brings back great memories. Funny you recorded the whole game! Awesome! DF
Great work on the game! I have fond memories of 2nd grade playing this game. Glad someone recorded a full playthrough on RUclips. It's shorter than I remember, but as a 7 year old it was probably tougher to beat than being 33 haha
You are awesome. I grew up on this game. Thank you for your contribution.
I know this comment is 12 years old, but I randomly just remembered this game from when I was in elementary in the 90s and would love playing this in school. I thought it was the coolest thing ever lol.
I hate math cuz y’all
That's awesome! I played this as a kid and loved it. Now I'm getting my masters in CS!
holy shit this is my entire elementary school experience
Me too I forgot all about this and now I found it's fun math game btw lol
This game and games like Mario Teaches Typing bruh, and in my elementary school, we played games on iMacs! Those old colorful ones! Such memories...
My uncle made this game
pxnderful ikr
@@200subscriberswithnovideos3 did he now.
I can't believe I found this! I was trying to explain to my husband this computer game that I loved as a kid and found this!! Core memory unlocked!
Idk who could dislike this video when they specifically went to find this old game... Lol
The nostalgia effect wasn't quite up to par
Bots
@@mr.anderson4571 but is that the video game or video’s fault? Or is it your nostalgia’s fault? Or is it just how life is sometimes?
I just randomly thought of this game today. My childhood or the 90s was so long ago. I feel old now.
***** thanks for the reassuring words. lol
You and me both brother.
You are old
@@B1izzardHawk just remember that you'll be like us someday and then you'll have kids your age calling you old when you're in your 30s. If 30 is old, just wait til you're 90 and in a nursing home like my grandma was after her husband died.
@@ThatAlternativeTransGirl ha, I'm old to, I'm 31
Oh my god. I remember playing this in like 1st Grade...
I used this in 1st grade myself and nobody knew how to finish the first level until I tried and fixed the game by pressing the space bar. XD
Me too!
1-3 grade
I was in 2-3-4 grade.
Me too, along with the colorful Apple computers at the library too (I know it's kind of too specific), IMO they look way better than today's computers
I'm 31 years old. Today I randomly thought of this game vaguely, not even remembering it was a math game. So I googled "90s computer game with trash in space" and found this video, and boom, its like I'm back in 1998.
I only remembered that it was a math game but fun even as a chikd and was surprised about the trash part but immediately remembered when I saw it haha
This brings me back. Grew up playing this on Windows 95. Good times.
Almost dropped a tear I finally found this game after years of trying to explain what it is..reasons why I love the internet era this my childhood 🤲🏾
Man, this brings me back to the 90's lol
OMG THE MEMORIES
I know, right?
Hey, Childhood. It's me!
Hi childhood buddy.
I never really realized that Spot's abduction was the direct consequence of Blasternaut being a selfish dick.
I remember playing this so much as a kid lol, along with Freddy Fish.
+coldnoodles95 hahaha freddie the fish (Y) that was an adventure.
I only know that game as a demo. I had Spy Fox in Dry Cereal
Me too.
Freddi fish, pyjama Sam, spy fox and putt putt are all on steam if you feel like some nostalgia!
Throwback. Just turned 27 and I remember playing this when I was like 6 ..ahh nostalgia ☝️️😌
I randomly just remembered this game and came to RUclips to find it. thank you!
THIS WAS MY FAVOURITE GAME!!! Thanks for sending me down memory lane!!!
I love how the game can't show years in the 21st century, so it rolls over to 1910.
Yeah, this is about the only thing I know that was affected by Y2K.
I loved this in 1st grade... Brings back so many memories.. Also, KidPix! I will still never be as devastated when I found that they removed Math Blaster and KidPix from the school computers.
Just randomly came up in my recommended. It's been 15years since I even thought of this game
I'm so glad I had the idea to make this video all those years ago.
That sure brings back memories
This is one of the first computer games I ever remember owning.
What I did almost everyday after school during the elementary days. That and Freddi Fish....
This game was huge for me as a kid! Cute to see it again and reminisce. Good game to teach math AND recycling. 🙂
Man , you took me way back. I remember playing this in elementary school in a huge beige Compaq. Time flies!
Takes me back.. I’m here with my shorty and we was talking about this .. had to find it . When times was simpler.
At school in our computer lab this game is installed XD
where can i download it? i was crazy about it as a kid!
4th grade computer time. God I miss this game. haha lol. I still remember the cut scenes word for word.
Been looking for this game for over 20 years!! Seemed impossible to find...just brought back sooo many memories being at my grandparents. Thank you!!
Omg when I was a kid I was so bad at this game because I couldn’t do math… I just wanted to shoot trash!!!
Now I’m an engineer with a minor math. Thanks MB!
Oh god, such old nostalgia this dredges up! I hadn't realized how many details of this little game I played when I was five years old I'd forgotten, but I know I played through it many times.
I just got a rush of memories as soon as I heard those sound effects. This is awesome!!
Ahh, the memories! My elementary school had it, and we also had a copy of it at my house to play on the family PC. This game's also got one of the very few Y2K bugs to have actually happened, with the "Mission Accomplished" certificate seen at the end, but at least it's a harmless bug.
Somehow this unburied itself from the depths of my subconscious.
wow! nostalgia!!!
I was just thinking of hooking up an old computer for my son who is now entering kindergarten to help him with math and spelling. This game came to my mind!!
I remember computer days back in 1st-3rd grade and I’d hear about 20 of these going on and it brings back so many memories I’d want to go back and relive one day of this so bad 🥺
All the computers had this when I was in elementary school. 2003-2008 were good times.
20 or so years later and I can still remember the triumphant finale music perfectly.
Ahhh the great times I had playing this game back in the elementary! :D
Can relate! :)
@RubySunrise1986: For as long as I can remember, I've owned the original CD-ROM disc of this game. I made this video thinking it would be popular, but I wouldn't have imagined it would be this popular.
Thank you for posting this. It's been so long since I've ever remembered this game, I'd forgotten how frickin' awesome it is.
First game I ever played on a computer! So many memories!!!
I play this game back when I was kid in the 90s, I loved math because of this game, I will never forget this game that I loved so much.
So many years and all of a sudden comes to my head lol crazy how our brains work
The memories, one of my favs from back in the day :)
Oh heck yeah!! This is a great math game from my childhood! I used to play it a lot when I was younger!!
I can’t begin to imagine how many times I played this game.
Gosh. I grew up in the 90’s. My parents had me playing this all the time. Literally!
This brings back many memories.
0:59 My favorite line in this game when I was little. Aargh work work work! You make me to do all the work around here.
Had this on my family PC, played similar versions in elementary school, ahhhhhhh, the memories...
Attention, viewers! I just finished typing customized subtitles for this video!
Just in time for me to watch it. Thank you for takin the time to do this, i havent played this since probably around 2001 or 2003. What an impoverished game haha, but i sure loved playing it after creative writing in like idk 1st or 2nd grade.
Dogman15 I love your profile pic
Great captions. :D
That’s wonderful, now everyone will be able to hear what the characters are saying in this educational 🖥 game.
@@SkyBlueFox1 >user-made subtitles apparently on the chopping block
I hadn't heard about this. I will admit that creating manual captions is tedious, but at least I can be precise and accurate if I spend enough time at it. I don't have the tools to make caption files or anything like that.
This took me so far back just now lol. Good stuff man.
WOW!!! I was talking with my God Son recently about a math video game he's been playing and it zoomed me back to the video games I played before I really even played video games and I just had to find it... HERE IT IS OMG THE NOSTALGIA!!!
Dude this brings back so many memories that i wanna cry lol
I haven't seen this in almost 20 years. What a trip... thanks for sharing.
I cannot tell you how many hours I have played on this blessed game.
I'm very well convinced that it was this game that help me find my love for simple mathematics!
I would give anything to play this game again!
Oh god this takes me back.
I'm so nostalgic right now that It makes me want to cry
Brings back great memories
Man takes me back! Use to love this!
found the files for this game deeply buried on my windows 98 as a kid... so weird how many memories it brings back just seeing it now.
I remember this just like it was yesterday; ah the memories... Sigh
Oh. My. God. I used to play this every day as a kid. This made my whole day.
Wow this takes me back.
The learning games were so satisfying back then.
OMFG you're bringing back to Saturday mornings when I was little!!!!
Funny thing to say about a video game that isn't a television cartoon.
My god this is a huge nostalgic trip game i played in school i hated this game but loved it at the same time
Its been like 10 years since I have played this. I just now remembered of the game while I was playing something else. I couldn't think of the name.
Good memories, except that second level! UGH
Ah the memories! ❤
I remember the fish skeletons were so hard to hit. This game brings back so many fun memories.
I remember playing this back in 3rd grade around 03 & 04
Thats a blast from the past.
I remember play this is elementary school in 97, my entire school district had apple computers, I remember playing this on a gray imac. When the colorful ones came out that were somewhat see thru, I thought they were so cool.

I remember this game from my childhood
i remember playing this, it was cool, and still is
Holy shit, I was obsessed with this back in the day!
My mom got this game for me because I was bad at math. Looking back I don't even think it was helpful, but it was fun as heck! Thanks for the nostalgia
I played this when I was a kid. It was surprisingly fun.
Me too I did too
man makes u miss the 90s loved this game as a kid imma get it let my nieces play it my xbox series s runs windows 98 in dev mode
wow, so much nostalgia, used to love this game as a little kid....crazy to think how long ago it was.
It'sbeen too long since I've seen Math Blaster. Thanks!
god this game brings back memories, my mom got it because she was one of those moms that believed that the only video game a kid should play is educational
The ending to this game in which the trash alien's spaceship blows up would always make me think of the Independence Day fireworks because a sound similar to fireworks is heard when the trash alien's spaceship blows up.
i played this a ton in elementary school. wowwwwwww this really bring me back
0:59 - Spot is saying "work" as "wike", funny
"Yeah, wike wike wike. You make me do all the wike around here."
Matthew Rivera I always heard it as "woik". www.imdb.com/title/tt1555838/quotes?item=qt1040325

I just noticed the same voice actor is doing the blaster naunt's voice as Marvin the Martian. It took me about 24+ years to notice that!
How did you "notice" something which isn't true? Mark Sawyer voiced Blasternaut in this game, but he's never voiced Marvin the Martian in anything. He might be doing an impression of Marvin, or an allusion to that type of voice, though. Marvin the Martian was first voiced by Mel Blanc, then eleven other men, and is currently voiced by Eric Bauza. When this game came out, Marvin's voice was Joe Alaskey or Maurice LaMarche. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_the_Martian
Sorry to burst your bubble there, but I had to set the record straight.
I loved this game as a kid.
Oh man I remember this, this brings back memories
Oh, man. I have not seen this game in so long! I used to play that when I was in 1st or 2nd grade.
I love mathblaster I used to play that game in grade school it's my fave game to play
played the life out of this game as a kid, thanks for posting
You're welcome.
Windows '95. Oh, what a time to be a kid.
I miss this game. Thanks, uploader.
The "computer lab" was my favorite subject in elementary...
It's where we played Math Blaster! I felt like a genius... lol
Title music = Epic win. Man, I find myself humming that even to this day!
@athletechat:
The exact title is "Math Blaster Episode I: In Search of Spot". I'm pretty sure you can find it in limited quantities on Amazon.com
@italianman1992: Everybody's been saying how this video brings back memories for them. I've lost count. I'm glad you enjoyed this video, too.
Omg I remember this game a long time ago. This game was so much fun. lol good times :)
