I have the same fridge, 5-6 months now, and it's just now telling me I need an air filter replacement. Turns out I didn't even have one in it.
Hah. Yeh, the “reminder” from the fridge is basically set to alert you 5/6 months after the fridge is set up or after you tell the fridge you just replaced the filter.

For those reading this just to let you know you don't need an air filter the reason being is there are no fans vents of any kind to circulate air it just goes in the side and does nothing and you can buy these for $12 for three you might as well just throw your money away mine came with an empty slot to where the air filter goes and I looked and there's no vents no nothing it's attached to one of the trees in my refrigerator good luck spend your money wisely. My son brought up a good point it probably evaporated after 6 months. Ha ha.

New fridge, same one, air filter was in there with the cardboard facing out, first time says needs replaced. You said the cardboard part goes facing the back. Which is it?

I didn’t see him take out the old filter, he just took the cover off.

I just tried changing mine for 1st time and there wasn’t a filter in there either. I guess you have to pay extra if you want it to come with a filter

How does the air go through the box?
The old filter didn't have the box, so I took it off so the actually goes through the filter

The first time I did remove it from the box. The second time I installed it with the box just like the video. But... I just now replaced it with a new one and Im thinking...shouldnt the open side be facing the back? So the air can go thru it and come out the top and bottom????
It’s weird, right? But the way it’s shown in the video is correct according to Frigidaire.
I have a stand alone Frigidaire refridgerator model FPRU19F8RFC. The fridge is not staying cold. I changed the thermostat and the defrost coil but nada. I attempted to find the timer but I can’t locate it from everything i searched on websites. SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE.

I keep ours at 0 and that seems to be perfectly fine.
Believe it or not the filter said see frig instructions for installation. Frig instructions said insert filter, did not show orientation. Thank you.

Hey there. Not sure what you mean. The filter should be in the compartment at the back of the fridge that says “filtration system.”

So like mine, there was no filter in there to begin with. You opened the cover and there was nothing in there
Yeh, that was just because I thought of doing the video while I was changing it and already took it out. Doesn’t change anything though. The way you go about putting in the new one is the same. Hope it helped you!

They may have not put the filter in when setting up the fridge. I’d just go buy one and install it.

This this might be an air freshener if it's carbonated but there is no movement of air in the fridge good luck buy an air freshener for your car and put it in your fridge
