Thank you! I came to this video because it said our air filter had to be replaced. I was surprised I had an extra one in the package it came with until I learned that it was the original and the builder never actually installed the air filter. Oops. We had a few fruit items go bad fairly quickly (not always though) so maybe this will help going forward..

Need a better look at the notch but over all it helped me get the job done
I was freaking out because my replacement filter got stuck, but this reminded me that I had to twist it a few times to lock into place, so I had to pull and twist more than I thought to get it loose 😪 crisis averted

Thank you for this video! Made the process easy - except I have tried to flush my new water filter but I still keep having a little black water come out every single time. I have probably flushed about 5 gallons of water out of it so far. Confused - what am I doing wrong?
No problem! Sorry you are having issues. The black is likely the carbon in the filter itself. Did you buy a OEM filter like I recommend in the link? You may need to return it if it's doing that for that long I'm afraid
Hey man love your video short and sweet. Question, when I'm pulling out the old water filter I can shake it and hear some water, some water will pour out is that normal?
Thanks! Yes that is normal. I drain as much as I can in a few seconds then just toss it. The new one will do the same after it fills
On your video looks so easy just twist and turn, mine is not the easy to remove old filter. Seems to be frozen Have still been trying Hair Dryer still no Luck. Does the ice maker off need to be off for additional time?
No maam unfortunately you are just going to have to give it a really hard turn.. Twist it super hard with a rag

Yes, actually I do have that issue as of recently. I adjusted it to 40 as well and it seems to help, but my sour cream was frozen yesterday in the back left
Btwillia's Garage thanks for the reply! well, when I went to change the air filter, it turns out there wasn’t one in there. Perhaps that was contributing to my freezing issues.
@@LifeandInstructionsmadesimple yeah as you saw mine didn't come with one either when new. It's kinda advertised as optional in one instruction wording I saw. Oh well, worth a shot and the little extra filtering
Hi..thank you for your helpful video that i wish i watched before changing my filter. I did no turn the ice off prior to changing the filter --- will this cause any issues? after a few hours i noticed it's leaking near the new filter as well ....help!
I would try the whole process again using my method. It should only take a couple of minutes. I bet your filter is just not seated correctly. Unscrew it, check for any debris of plastic and what not, then screw it back in tightly. Be sure not to go overboard though! It's plastic and can crack the filter...or worse...the housing!

Yikes, glad you caught it. Did the water/ice taste funky? I'm on a well and have a lot of minerals in my water. I can tell instantly when it's going bad
@@BtwilliasGarage that's actually a funny story. I've had the refrigerator for a year-and-a-half before I finally got around to hooking the water up to it! LOL I had all the ice makers and stuff turned off until that point. I've been running the water through it for about 2 months now and it has tasted fine. I am about to put a new water filter in though. I was a little shocked when I took the cover off and there was no old filter to be replaced LOL maybe I got it when I got there fridge and just never put it in? Who knows LOL
@@FM-Patriot haha better late than never. Sounds like your water is pretty quality though. Never hurts to filter it a little more. Good news for you is that I bet your filter will last for months and months. I go through them every 4 mo or so due to the hard minerals
@@BtwilliasGarage the actual reason I was looking to change my filter was because my upper ice maker stopped making ice for some reason. I haven't looked into it any further than checking online and it's saying that one of the problems could be that I need to replace the water filter. I have not used the ice maker in the door for over a week and there is no ice being made

How do you like this refrigerator? I just purchased this same one yesterday without doing my research because my previous Frigidaire had been so good to me. A true Die hard appliance! I have been seeing reviews and the majority are complaints about this refrigerator🤔
We like it so far. We bought it because we had our LG unit crap out on us (bad linear compressor) and decided to go with a more trusted brand in the space.
The only problem so far is that the ice machine will freeze up and stop working. When that happens we turn off the ice function and wait a few days and it comes back. The bottom drawer ice works in the meantime

I have struggled with trying to remove it for 3 hours. It will only turn slightly counter clockwise and no amount of wiggling like you did will release it. Any suggestions?
That is very odd! Did you get it figured out yet?
I had that problem too!! You just have to pull towards you and keep turning it to get it loose!

Is the filter really filtering the water? As is it a good source of drinking water?
That is correct. We have heavy mineral content and we can taste it when it is going back after 2 or 3 months
My fridge looks just like this except when I take the air filter cover off there is nothing behind it! No filter nor an indentation for it to rest inside of. I guess I’ll try putting a filter in but it will just be up against the back wall. I don’t know if my fridge wasn’t assembled correctly…
That is really strange. I would snap a picture and send it to the manufacturer or box store you bought it from to start.
Can these be purchased at Home Depot or Lowe’s?

This may be a stupid question but I’m a first time homeowner here and I knew about the water filter, but what on earth is the air filter? Like will it affect how the water tastes at all?
It's all good! Congrats on the home! The air filter is just for the overall smell of the fridge. It's the same concept of putting an open baking soda in the fridge to combat smells. It just looks cleaner than an open Arm and Hammer and air flows through it. Your not missing out on much if you want to skip that. Best of luck! -BTWG

Use a dish towel on your hand and crank on it really good. Make sure you are spinning it counter clockwise. I've heard others say that and after some more raw force they were able to get it out

Turn off the water line on the back of the fridge. There should be a valve. Then buy another as your filter is likely a "lemon" or is cracked.
How do you flush out the water when your refrigerator does not have a water dispenser?

Don't forget to use up all your current ice first

@@BtwilliasGarage Thank you for your responses, another question is how do I get air out of the water line if I don't have a water dispenser. I have seen in the video how there could be a rush of air as the water is being dispensed and I don't know how to do this without a water dispenser.
@@MajaMcKenerick I imagine it will work itself out naturally in the ice maker. You may notice some oddly formed ice due to it, but you shouldn't need to vacuum it out or anything. I'm not entirely sure, but give it a shot and I bet it will work perfectly after a couple of batches of ice go through

You are turning it to the left, correct? It could be frozen I guess. Maybe run a bunch of water through the water cup fill in a cup and see if you can get it. It's not the first I've heard this and people always end up getting it off. Keep me posted

Can't believe I can't find one video about a water dispenser that will work once you relieve the back pressure off the water line and unplug the fridge. Water will then dispense. All you want. Even if you remove the union behind the fridge. After that first dispense of water the red water filter comes on and there is pressure on the line. All these videos are really for amateurs. Can't believe no one has had this problem...yes I did everything and can't find one video on someone fixing the same issue

Dang, I'm sorry. It could be frozen water as well depending on where you have your fridge set. Keep trying it, it should break loose

What notch? It seems to be out of the field of vision.
Just the design of the end of the filter. It has a unique design versus the other.
Can't see the "notch" you talk about no picture.
You may have a different filter, but mine has a 1 inch or so raised line at the end you twist
