  • The guys are back in the kitchen. Showing how to change all the filters (Fresh Air filter, Water filter, and the two Produce Keeper filters) in a Frigidaire Refrigerator. There are a few different styles, which is mentioned in the video, so please check your model to order the proper replacement filters. The model being displayed here is the GRFC2353AF2 French Door with external water feature in door.
Note that at the time this video was made, the air filter being used was the Frigidaire AF-2 which, as noted in the video, does not have a critical air flow direction. This filter is being replaced by the RAF-2, which is air flow direction specific. The RAF-2 should be installed with the carbon (black) side facing out of the cover.
After replacing the water filter, Frigidaire/Elelectrolux recommends flushing the filter by dispensing water for four minutes.

Thanks for the video! Exactly what I was looking for. The only thing is it took a while to find it, so one suggestion is adding the model # of the Fridge to the end of your video title in brackets. ie. "Changing Frigidaire Fridge Filters - there are four of them (GRFS2853AF Model) "

We are glad the video helped out!
It’s a great note about the model number. The PWF-1 (FPPWFU01) water filter fits 37 different models, and the AF-2 (FRGPAAF2) air filter fits 34. They all install the same way so we couldn’t add all the models in the title. We’ll have to think of a way to handle that. Thank you very much for the feedback and great suggestion.

    Question:
What is the part for a bypass plug if you have reverse osmosis?

Hey Carl. Thanks for watching. There are two schools of thought when you have a RO whole house filter.
      - Some believe that keeping a (real) filter further reduces contaminants via the charcoal element in the filter. This filter will need to be replaced periodically.
      - Others believe that the (real) filter is unnecessary and prefer the long term cost savings and the potential for increased water flow at the fridge dispenser.
      - It’s a personal choice.
We are reluctant to offer a part number for the bypass since there are so many models out there. But we can give you a head start in your search. Bypass filter A15601102 will GENERALLY be the bypass replacement for a PWF-1 filter. We THINK this is a good number for you to start your search with. Please VERIFY this conclusively before you purchase, as we cannot be responsible for knowing all applications and compatibility. The Frigidaire site (Frigidaire.com) gives an opportunity to check compatibilty by refridge model number.
      Good luck!

The instructions for my model I just bought GRMC2273CF says put the carbon side out so apparently it does make a difference and the guy at the appliance store said put the black side out so not sure what to do now?

Hey there. The machine in our video uses the AF-2 air filter. Per Frigidaire, this filter does not have a critically specific air flow direction.
Your newer machine uses the RAF-2 air filter, which is replacing the AF-2. The RAF-2 filter is direction specific with a much more pronounced black side, and should be installed with the carbon (black) side out.
Hope that clears it up for you and thanks for the comment. We will update our caption to note the RAF difference.

Hmmm. Interesting dilemma. If you are sure that you have a Frigidaire Pure Water filter, they are most often a ‘press’ to remove. Press the base in and the filter pops out - kind of like some cabinet doors or auto fuel tank access doors. The press can be substantial but not overly aggressive. The bottom of these round filters are usually either: a) flat and flush with their mounting surface or b) rounded like the bottom of a bottle.
There are some older Frigidaires that have a different system, sometimes called PureSource. The bottom of those filters have indentations on both side of the bottom creating a handle in the center that the user can grab. Looks kind of like some stove knobs. This system would require a quarter turn counter clockwise to remove. Listen for the click and pull straight out. It sometimes helps to continue the rotation while pulling it out. Replacement is exactly the opposite motion - insert fully and while applying gentle pressure inward, rotate clockwise until it clicks and locks in place.
      Good luck!
