    I've done several led light projects on my pontoon boat, side by side and other places. One great idea to make them stay put is to use 3M adhesive strips on the mounting surface first. Then attach the light strip to the 3M strip and it really holds well. The 3M adhesive strip is the kind used to hold car trim and emblems in place so you know how sticky that is. It's available in the same width as the light strips from Amazon.

    Is the power-draw of these lights negligible when compared to the bike motor, or will this significantly impact the range you can expect to get out of your battery? (I ask, knowing the answer, but I want to be in the book lottery...)

    • @BoardsportsGroup

      it will be a different awg because they carry max voltage differently, and it doesn't matter as long as the total voltage = that of the battery, check his video ruclips.net/video/t0xKpzqLnuc/видео.html because he explains it extremely well to the point of idiot proof 😊

    I've run this set-up for a few years now but used a small 12v motorcycle battery as a power source. Now that I'm on a 48 volt machine, I've got 2 questions about re-using my old ones.
    1: On a 4 strip set-up, do the strips have to have the same LED count?
    2: Could more than 4 be used in a hybrid serial-parallel configuration? For example, let's say I wanted to use 5 strips. 4 would be in series but the 5th would be paralleled with 1 of the first 4.
    Thanks for all your vids, Micah. Always helpful.

    • @EbikeSchool
      @EbikeSchool  6 лет назад

      These are sort of the same question, basically, can you run different power (current) devices in series. More LEDs on one strip or a pair of strips would both be pulling more current than the others in the series chain. Whether or not this would work would depend on how robust the LED lights are at handling overcurrent. I worry that the non-pairs or lower count strips could burn out because the higher current will be flowing through them. These light strips are pretty simple and cheap and I don't think they'd handle much abuse. But it would be a good experiment!

    • @tmurphy0919
      @tmurphy0919 6 лет назад +1

      Got it, thanks. Unfortunately, I foolishly bought them at an auto parts store for $20 each. I've gotten my money's worth from them but I'm a little hesitant to experiment. Already ignited one on a 24 volt test.

    I have rebuilt my 48v battery except for 3 parallels.My battery and hub motor are capable of 25 plus, Right now I'm stuck at 12mph. I'm in the process of changing those too. If this does not work, what are the cons of bypassing this bms system and just straight power off the battery. I know the limits of this battery when I first bought it, but that was brand new. I don't want anything to drop below 3.3v. I know how to check for power, but when should I stop.

    Another great video. You really do have the best channel for ebikes.
    I do have a question, for fun and for emergencies and camping, I built a solar generator box with a 48v invertor in it and after I built it, I thought it would be a great idea to somehow have a SIMPLE and fast plugin connector that I could plug into the ebike battery to give it a huge battery reserve if ever needed.
    I really don't want to use the charger and plug it into the 120vac side of the invertor and then into the ebike battery, I'd rather be able to just connect the batteries together directly, if possible, and then use my solar panel to charge my battery in the solar generator box.
    I'm not even sure that you can charge AND run the ebike battery at the same time in this type of set up. I'm basically looking to be able to grab my solar generator box with over 5,100 watts of power in it, plug it in, and supply an ebike with that additional amount of power if ever needed.
    Any ideas or thoughts or maybe even a future video? Keep up the great work.

    • @EbikeSchool
      @EbikeSchool  6 лет назад

      This is possible, but the method to use will require some planning. The simple way is to just parallel the discharge ports of both your ebike battery and 5kW solar generator battery. This can be done easily when they are at the same or similar state of charge (voltage), but it shouldn't be done when they are not at the same voltage to prevent one from rapidly charging the other. To get around this, you could put a diode on the output of each battery to prevent reverse flow (charging) through the discharge connector. A different way to tackle this problem would be to put a DC-DC converter on the output of the 5kW battery and then plug that into the charge port on your ebike battery. And yes, you can charge your battery while discharging it at the same time.

    • @wjf213
      @wjf213 6 лет назад

      Okay, thanks that makes a lot of sense with the diodes. The possible differences in the state of charge was some thing I did not think of. What would you say should be the max difference in battery voltages?

      if you guys have sort of the same bike laws as in Denmark, that I could read up on it, we have som strict rules on bike lights, like what color can they be and where can you place em. if you want to do it just like the video than you should be golden, as long as the light isn't blinding oncoming traffic.

      Everything is legal until you get caught, then you just feign ignorance and avoid a ticket.

    Hi Mike,
    Have you ever heard of insidents of people that had their over powered E bikes or E longboards taken from them by the police is Israel?

    • @EbikeSchool
      @EbikeSchool  6 лет назад

      Once a year or so there's a big roundup operation of illegal ebikes in Israel. Other than that, it doesn't happen too much.
