Sick! Definitely not hard to do, in theory. If you’re looking to have a unique vehicle and spend around $15k anyway, this is the way to go. You just have to have the time, space, and motivation to get it done! You done did it! Props man
I am starting the swap and this sounds about right i have a lb7 so i am going to go with head studs and replace the CP3 so that makes it more expensive But you can build a duraburb for less than a decent pickup would cost that already has one
Great work Nate! Thanks for documenting this and giving us what we need to do it ourselves. I’m doing the swap on a 1500 and contemplate doing a body swap instead. I know I would have to shorten the frame to fit but are there reasons you went this route instead? Maybe you could make a video on your thought process
Hey Nate, hope this finds you. I’m doing a swap myself and was hoping you could point me in the direction for wiring/rewiring engine harness and interior stuff. You mentioned it in your videos but I haven’t seen one that actually entailed this information. Please and Thankyou hope all is well.
New subscriber. Great channel. Great videos. I’ve been looking for the body spacers online and can’t seem to find them. Where did you get your body spacers? You mentioned wiring changes needing to be done. Do you have any videos covering the required changes or can you provide that information? Thanks in advance!
Hi, Nate very good video with good information, in his personal opinion I have a 2006 hummer h2 and I have the idea of the duramax conversion, any suggestions
My old friend Alex's dad had gotten into a crash with his 2006 Suburban one time and when he got into a crash with it, it stayed in Arizona and when they got it back, they had to put a lift kit, big wheels, and even a Duramax engine with Allison transmission in order to make it road legal again.
We use to have a mechanic in the oilfield named Nate,he was always nasty. We called him nasty Nate. Years later I call anything gross or slimy nasty Nate.
I bought a 2003 3500 hd sierra off my dad, and it’s got the 6.0 in it. I wanna swap an lb7 into it, do you think it’s harder or easier that the suburban?
I have a full lbz runs perfect but the whole truck is rotted, im gonna have to keep an eye out for a suburban or yukon because youre making this sound easy 😂
Yes, need to run 2 wires to the OBD port, I can't remember which. Also 1 wire to the cluster for glow plug light, 2 wires to the shifter for tap shift, and truck 4x4 switch/module
New to the channel..looking to do a LBZ swap as well but I haven’t decided which GMT800 I want use yet..you choose the suburban and said you had to buy body mount spacers..would the Yukon, Tahoe, Avalanche & Cadillac need spacers too or is it just a suburban thing?.. Thank you!
@Nate, I am planning this swap. I am also in Ohio. I picked up a 04 crew cab long bed 2500 4x4 GMC with an LLY. I am on the hunt now for a clean 3/4 ton suburban or Yukon. In your video you said look for 03-07.. the 07 is a newer body style, is this still compatible? I appreciate your videos and any advice before I start my project.
Just found your channel. I’ve got a 01 2500 burb with the 8.1 4x4. Been thinking of swapping in a duramax for a few years. Would a LBZ not work with the 01?
Not too shabby, that's not a bad price point at all. Great stuff, can't wait for the wiring video and the next project.
Thanks man! I've got a few ideas in mind!
@@NaztyNateI have 2008 GMC Yukon Denali 1500 short wheel base. I am wondering if it is possible to get this same conversion done????

I've always wanted an LB7! That will be cool

Thank you! A suburban body will not go on a truck frame, would need to completely re-do the back half of it, not worth it in my opinion.
I got a clean Yukon xl for 500$ but they took the motor and transmission I swapped in my own engine and a nv 4500 runs great so far
NV4500!?!?! That's sick!
Thanks for the cost breakdown sick build.
No problem! Thank you!
I have a few questions about the suburban because I’m planning on doing it to my 2004 Chevy avalanche
Now that would be a cool build!
Still cheaper than a stalk brand new suburban (Which only come as half tons now) with the little 3.0 Duramax👍
That's so true! And way cooler! Lol
@@NaztyNate I'm also subbed now lol I've watched the videos where you were actually building it 🤣👍

They were crazy beginning of this yr got mine for 13.500
They are so cool man I want another one
Do you still plan on making a wiring video? If not could you point me in the direction of some good information or videos? Thanks

Thanks for the sub! I got body spacers from amazon and cut them myself, I have it in one of my videos
Finally a straight shooter most beat around the bush for views.
No beating here! Lol
I’d take this over a new Yukon any day of the week
Right!? This body style was the absolute best!
I have an ‘87 Blazer with the old 6.2L Diesel in it. I’d love to swap a Duramax in it. Just need the money…
That would be sick!
Id imagine the same would apply to duramax swapping a silverado 2500hd
That's exactly right!
Hey Nate,
How did you connect the (double orange wires) tcm wires and the
(black/grey wires) from the ecm?
Thanks for any help.
Great work! I wonder if I could do the same swap on my 03 Yukon? Not the XL version.
I've seen it done before! Definitely possible!
Is it possible to do the lbz swap on a 01 sierra 2500hd with the Allison transmission even tho the wiring is probably different than the 03-07??
You would need to re-wire the entire truck, would need the lbz body harness
Great info. Did you have to do any custom fabrication for the motor mounts, or is the suburban frame compatible with the duramax mounts?
Exactly, just had to use the LBZ mounts
I have a 03 2500hd with the 6.0 I want the 6.6 though
Has anyone tried swapping a Suburban body onto A Duramax HD Silverado chassis. Instead of swapping engine and Drive train?
I think the frames are too different for the bed. Wheel base is a different length too
Hi, Nate very good video with good information, in his personal opinion I have a 2006 hummer h2 and I have the idea of the duramax conversion, any suggestions
I've always wanted a Duramax swapped hummer! That would be awesome!
Nate I saw your video on color matching your fender flares for your 2500 Silverado…. How much was it and what makes someone trust worthy to do the job
Hey man don't forget the cost of exhaust..
I FORGOT!!!!! Add another 300! LOL
Can on top of truck chassis

Where did you get your donor truck I cant find any that sell everything besides the motor
Did you find the donor on marketplace?
@@moejr14 yes I did!
Sweet ride!
Thank you !

I bought a 2003 3500 hd sierra off my dad, and it’s got the 6.0 in it. I wanna swap an lb7 into it, do you think it’s harder or easier that the suburban?
Exactly the same swap as the suburban, would be better to just sell it and buy a duramax truck
I have a full lbz runs perfect but the whole truck is rotted, im gonna have to keep an eye out for a suburban or yukon because youre making this sound easy 😂
I've got a 2000 escalade that I'm dying to duramax swap.
I think an escalade would be a badass swap
It's still a ways out so in the mean time I'm binge watching your videos so thank you for sharing!
i would love to see a chevy express 4.3 swap with a duramaxxx!!
Man that would be sick!
They made Duramax vans you know.
I have a running and driving lbz truck but its fuckin haggard out. Its also very basic and I want something nicer. Kinda want to do it
Sounds like the perfect donor truck!
@NaztyNate just need to find a good 03-07 burb
Im swapping a 06 lbz into a 05. I kno ichave to switch the harnesses and pedal assembly..did u have to run wires for your obd2? Man i really need help
Yes, need to run 2 wires to the OBD port, I can't remember which. Also 1 wire to the cluster for glow plug light, 2 wires to the shifter for tap shift, and truck 4x4 switch/module
@NaztyNate thanks yeah I'm trying to find out what connector and where to tap for shifter and ob2
Wonder what the labor cost would be
Good question, I bet it'd be hard to find someone that would do it though
@@NaztyNate You think a 4Bt cummins in a 80s K5 Blazer would work ?

I believe they would all need spacers to clear the trans cooler lines that run to the front because the trucks were a little different.
I thought it would be closer to 20,000 12,000 is not bad at all
If I did performance upgrades with fancy powder coat colors I'm sure it would get up in that range.

You would need an early 07. The new body style 07 will not work with an lly
Just found your channel. I’ve got a 01 2500 burb with the 8.1 4x4. Been thinking of swapping in a duramax for a few years. Would a LBZ not work with the 01?
01 or 02 engine works much better with 01 or 02 suburban. Or you will need to swap most of the wiring on the burb
@@NaztyNate appreciate the reply
Honestly thought it would have cost more to do it all.
Right!? Not too bad
Nice Job!
Do you think this would be a possible swap in a 03 Tahoe?
I have seen it done in a tahoe but I think they kept the 1500 axle
@@NaztyNate thanks for the answer 😀
If I have a 1500 sub can I get a donor 2500 sub and swap the bodies and frames. Then get the 2500 LBZ donor?
this work for a tahoe too? same front end right
I think it does but not 100% sure
about how long did the swap take for you ?
I couple months in my garage every free time I had
80 buks for a battery...was this 2017?
Everstart brother! Best deal out there
Curious about the gas mileage on that beast?
Thats a good question. I would assume it gets about what a crew cab truck gets. Definitely better than the gas motor!
I want to do a Duramax swap
Duramax swap everything!!!
$12,100 total
Do you have an Instagram dude
Yes sir!
Wanna sell it LOL
@@jacecariola891 already did!
