That was the 3500 RPM it’s easier to get inside the drives

That’s a makita variable speed polisher
Just a reminder lower RPMs going to take longer to polish faster brings you a quicker brighter shine. The lower RPMs are safer . Also do not polish a wheel with the nut covers on there you end up hitting one you're going to have a projectile flying at your face and catch up pretty good I've seen it happen.

What grit sandpaper did you start with? 400?
Depends how bad a wheel is. If not bad then sure 400, 600, then cut with brown, & then color with green. If wheel is in worse shape and has some damage or pitting 220, 320, 400, 600 if 220 not cutting it you can go lower but nothing I ain’t been able to get out with 220 and up but I use prep/blend wheels to so 🤷🏼♂️.

I am currently refurbishing my my motorcycle wheels any tips on doing my forks or will i have to do them by hand I have a de walt dwp849X polisher and Zephhy polishing kit with 3 polishers and 3 clay bars
Clay bar is useless on aluminum. It's only good for painted surfaces. Depending on how bad your pitting is on your aluminum. I would recommend going no lower than 240 or 280 grit sandpaper on the forks. Work your way up to the higher grits 600 or 800. If you have pigtails or swirl sanding marks in there go back over it again with either 400 or 600. You can use an orange wheel for buffing and the Tripoli then drop down to the yellow wheel with the Tripoli and finish off with the green. If you have any of the white or blue buffing rouge finish off with that for a nicer finish.just remember whatever sanding marks you put in you got to take out so if you wanted to start out with 320 or 400 grit sandpaper that's also fine you're just going to be sanding longer.

Because I have a variable speed dewalt polisher and a zephyrs polishing kit with 3 buffs and 3 clay bars (rouges)”. Zephyr don’t even offer a clay bar bro, just put 2&2 together man.
I see the rouge is Brown Tripoli. What pads? Kwik cut yellow/orange and the purple for secondary cut?
Green and purple is for my finish I only do two stage polish

Is that a 8 or a 10" wheel ? How long does it take you per rim with the sanding? and what are you charging. I'm just starting out but i figured at truck stops i need to be able to complete a rim in no longer than 30 min...thanks

Figure out how much you want to make per hour whether it's $75 or $100 an hour and see how long it takes you to do each wheel and adjust your price according it's really no secret it just depends on how long it takes you to do it sanding takes longer so you charge a little more but getting less done in that time frame you can't charge $100 to do the wheel but you can definitely charge $50 to do the wheel if you can get one done within 30 minutes

Are u install a 2" extension in the makita polisher in between the polisher and the disc when u polish the rims?, cuz l do but this causes me a problem when I'm trying to polish the rim interior.
No extension brother
Using an extension will only make it harder just make sure you keep your fingers away from the buffing wheel and have good fitting gloves and use a full face respirator if you can or even a half face respirator with eye protection not a good idea to have a rag hanging down over your face especially if the buffer catches it if it pops back on you you're going to get neck injuries from the buffer grabbing the rag around your face.
Can i use 6000rpm on 8inch airway buffing wheel?
Yes I run them until there is no product left
How many rims do you normaly do with a 8" airway wheel?
I use 10” on drives only use one time then just finish it on other jobs
Would you do purple buff and brown rouge first and then do Yellow and brown yellow being a softer fluff wheel maybe coloring yellow buff and green rouge I thought purple buff was a rougher buff
No yellow and brown is cutting stage purple and green is finish
