    Just made these turned out great! I used milk instead of water when initally creating the dough. Made the bread super soft.

    Well, after scouring many recipes, this one was the best! I accidentally used less water and the knead time was short, so I let the dough rise overnight, re-kneaded, rolled them , let them rise again before roping them out. The dough relaxed fine. Came out golden and chewy and yummy.

  • @queencupcake09
    @queencupcake09 9 лет назад +5

    I did exactly what you said to do and it turned out wonderful!! :)
    I usually have issues with the dough rising because I used to use hot water, but this time I used slightly warm water for the yeast activation part. I waited 10 mins and the yeast did in fact start to foam. It never did that for me before. I also rolled the dough in the oil the way you did and a crust did not form- that was another issue I used to have. When it came time to let the dough rise, I heated my oven to the lowest setting for a few mins and I also placed a cup of boiled (very hot) water in the oven with the dough. Every 30 mins putting more hot water when the water got cooled. I would say I took my time and gave the dough 1 1/2 hours to rise.
    They were amazing!!!! THANK YOU!! :) :) I never used bread flour before, but I'm glad I did.

    Do not use foil on your baking sheet for this recipe. Baking Soda will react to the foil and could/will give your pretzel dough a metallic taste. Parchment paper or a silicone baking sheet would work as a substitute for the foil.

      @joyofbaking  11 месяцев назад +1

    Brezels or Prezels are the little snacks you eat out of the bag like crisps. You are making Brezen and very well too. I am from Bavaria, I should know about Brezen❤️❤️❤️Also, a Breze has to have a bit of a crust outside, not soft. The inside needs to be soft. In order to achieve that, you put a bowl of water in the oven. In Bavaria the Brezen come with salt on top, plenty. You always can scratch it off. And butter, don’t forget to eat them with butter. This is how we do it. I make them every day ( almost) ❤️❤️❤️

      Rhum Baba is said to be from Poland and is best known as the favorite dessert at the court of Louis XV. It is easier than cheesecake and keeps well due to rum sauce. Origin is said to be from exiled Polish king, Stanislaus I, in the early 18th Century. (I like foods with stories, and that is a good one in my estimation)

    5 times of done this one now and I have to say they are fun to make.. Especially with kids.. They have a blast helpibg make the dough, rolling out their snakes.. We did even with some unusual looking pretzels. But that's kind of the fun of making the with kids anyway.
    One thing I should mention.. The first 2 x I made these I followed instructions exactly! But I found if I only boiled them 30 seconds per side they were okay, but I added and additional 30 seconds and I seem to like the texture.

    Thank you for your wonderful recipes. I made a mistake though: my oven is not as large as Stephanie's and I tried to fit all 6 pretzels on the one tray! A big error on my part. Because the pretzels were touching each other, even before they entered the oven, they did not cook evenly (and were raw in parts). I turned them upside down to cook the bottoms! I think I should have allowed 4 pretzels on the one tray. But, I am learning from my mistakes and will definitely have another go! Oh yes, they didn't taste too bad after all, but I know they will be better next time!

    • @joyofbaking

      Venus Chow If you want to use cinnamon sugar, then I would bake the pretzels with just the egg wash. When the pretzels come out of the oven brush them with some melted butter and then dip them in cinnamon sugar.

    if you whip it like a jumprope, it will happen faster, you won't have to spend so much time rolling it. Get it to a about 12 inches and then grab both ends and start flipping it. Works like a charm.
