Good afternoon
@Ambition Strikes Dudes you guys have earned yourself an effing subscriber!!
Is this a joke
There is something so right about Riley installing a battery cable with a hammer while wearing a Diesel Creek shirt!!!!
@Ambition Strikes *_ Honestly, these two are becoming MORE like DIESEL CREEK with all the machines they're buying and POLLUTING the forest with all the fumes and they're NOT even FARMING ANYTHING ...... SEEMS like MORE MONEY & NO BRAINS!! _*
Yep, if you can't kill a battery by cooking the starter (on equipment known to be out of fuel), then you should hit the most critical and delicate battery part with a big hand sledge...😂
And then make videos of the errors so other nubees can "learn" the "propper" ways to fix things...
Well, with that battery terminal half-melted off, using a hammer would work as well as anything. If push came to shove, and you just needed to move the machine, screwing a clean lag screw between the screwed up post and the equally screwed up battery cable end would work until it could be repaired correctly.
All I say is Riley !! Riley this Reckless genius Riley 😅😅😅🇯🇲
The loose nut that’s causing the most problems with that excavator is the one in the cab……😂🤣😂🤣 love watching y’all learn and grow!!❤
Hah, isn't that the truth!
Trying to drive on the starter motor for minutes at a time is a really good way to burn up the starter. The melted solder is a symptom of over use. It may have more damage inside.
@@Freedom_Half_Off if you had taken the end off it would probably have looked like a copper bird's nest inside with molten solder splashed all over it.
The pure joy of shaping the world around you with BIG TOYS come on we are all little boys at heart.
New batteries , new starter , larger machine with the room for a car seat in the cab , but no coffee cup holder? LOL , absolutely enjoy your videos seeing your accomplishments and victories , seeing Oliver and Bailey , and seeing the smiles on your faces makes my Sunday complete.
Thanks for watching!

4😂😂 the😂
Pretty sure the starter fried because you've been watching diesel creek videos 🤔🤣🤣
Spare starters is a strong clue the engine has been chronically hard to start.
@@Bob_Adkins Or...the previous owner was so lax on maintenance, he didn't notice the loose connections.
😂
Hello Oliver! It's great to see Bailey up and about as well
Who would run a starter for 10+ minutes continuously and then get surprised when everything is jacked up?
These fools.
SUGGESTION: In an effort to avoid future starter issues --- put a lock nut over the existing nut; that way it won't loosen up and cause the same problem.
Great advice! I couldn't have said it better. Vibration is the culprit! Nice machine! Hey you got room in this excavator for one of the dogs now! Lol
The melted "solder" on the starter is a fusible link. Very repairable ! Keep a few on hand, it's a common issue.
Yeah, I was thinking drop (raise?) the new one, repair the old one at leisure.
Yup, he didn't have spares, the other owner rebuilt them.
Loved the black diesel creek shirt riley was wearing. Another one of my favorite channels around. And we need more dozer content
There is lots of dozer content coming your way, starting next week!!
@@AmbitionStrikes looking forward to it thanks a bunch for making our boring sundays great
I've been watching your videos for about 6 months and I'm happy to see your family growing. I'm glad you found a simple fix for the machine, it looks like a lot of fun.
A bad day never takes the smile from your face! You are blessed with a great wife and a son who will learn so much with the both of your knowledge!
It's possible the battery terminal melted because of running it on the starter but more likely it was a case of a loose connection on that terminal when you were trying to start it. Was a logger for ~30 years and had that issue innumerable times.
I recently bought a 55gal vevor tank for fuel, highly recommend. You can load it in the truck with forks and if possible local get cheaper red diesel for all your off road vehicles. The 12v pump works great also, no more messing with 5 gal tanks.
The new excavator has resulted in Bailey getting way less screen time! And there is Oliver too! It is like a whole new channel!
Love your trouble shooting skills the most. You stay calm (at least on camera) and through a process of elimination, target the issue. Well done!
Driving it with the starter wasn't a good idea but understandable, I've done the same thing when I lost a clutch arm on a truck. It was effective getting it started but killed the starter after a few tries.
That's a workhorse and should be fun this summer for you guys.
Maybe we should change his name to Impatient Restless Reckless Riley...
I'll miss the mini excavator. Courtney was a wizard with it!
Good morning from Wisconsin. Congrats on your baby boy.
You're kiddo is going to grow up having an awesome life. Folks that can be self sufficient and living in the woods. Y'all are going to have a great life.
A trip to the store for fuel vs a day chasing problems.
Learned about the 'eating starters' problem.
A small and cheap lesson time in the university of life of used machinary.
Dig the channel.
I can't wait to see you play with the new toy! I know breaking down is not fun but watching it allows me to follow your "fix-it" mentality. You make the breakdown fixes seem easy. That is a clear sign of a professional! You make it look easy.
Having had several diesels never run them out of fuel but you probably know this and never try and move vehicles with starter only.
Fantastic acquisition! But baby, Oliver steals the show!
The starter connection was not ever loose, you got it so hot it melted into the plastic and thereby loosened the nut. I spent many years fixing screw-ups like this.
Good morning Riley, Courtney and Oliver! Love watching all your projects! That is a great excavator, I've worked on many of them! God Bless you guy's!
Speaking of starters, keep an eye on the 7.3L starter wires. Those connections are known to corrode and give a slow crank when starting. That affects your injection pump pressure. Always check in the fall to make sure they are clean and ready for winter. Good to see Boone back on camera.
Angle grinder to cut the lock on the FUEL filler is a bold move…bolt cutters would be a more appropriate move :).
Oliver is so cute!! He was so sleepy 🙂.
the pair of you always bring a smile to my face with your efforts cheers to you
Lovin' your videos. Keep up the good work and stay safe. God Bless.
the trackhoe is a good addition!! remember not to run out of fuel!!!
Between the skid steer, Army truck, dozer, generator, and now the big excavator, y'all should consider putting in a bulk diesel tank. You would get better pricing buying in large quantities.......and Riley might be less prone to running things out of fuel. 🙂
Riley and Courtney! you guys are amazing. we understand life has been a little crazy, and beautifully complex with Oliver arriving. to do what you're doing AND post vids all the time is a lot of weight. I for one am just happy to see an update. The shorter vids every once and awhile , are fine in this season of your lives. We love you and stay safe!
We're still working on finding a balance, but we sure do love sharing this life with you all!
It’s hard to believe that Reilly would make such a rookie mistake as running the new machine out of fuel ⛽️
But it was a fun episode anyway….. about that water maker ? 🤨😃
Love your videos. Hope Oliver is well he sure is handsome & Courtney & Riley are adjusting to this wonderful bundle of joy! Thanks for updating us!🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Now to get Diesel Creek to wear an Ambition Strikes T-shirt, right?
I am so jealous of your heavy equipment purchases. I need them on my place. Congratulations on the great buy!
now it's time for a transportable diesel tank with electric pump I recommend one where you can fill the excavator at least 2 times
that sounds like a good idea but a tank that size requires a hazmat endorsement. way to go is a big tank at the homestead and a 100 gal for the back of a pickup. I recommend one on a hose reel makes it a lot easier
@@JackTruitt and that is 2 tanks of diesel for that size excavator
@@Dennis_Blankespoor it's a 70 gallon tank
Twice !!!!!
Nope. Two gallon Riley! 😆 Maybe in an ATV 😆
Also he needs to pour upside down to avoid spills; spout on top of pour always! 👍
I luv John Deere equipment! What a great purchase/swap; nothing runs like a Deere 🙂
I typically watch from Texas but today I’m loving Ambition Strikes from Machu Picchu, Peru! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your adventure while I’m on mine.
15:54 Maybe it's like the Cosmos Mystery Spot near Mt. Rushmore? Very strange magnetic and visual disturbances happen there....
Congrats on the Ex120. I have had a EX120-2 for 14 years and it has served me well. Correct about the start but under normal circumstances they last quite awhile. I might recommend installation of a bat disconnect switch on the neg lead just in case. Stay on top of the fuel and eng oil filters and on the bottom of the fuel tank there is a sump drain to get rid of crud. Best of luck
What he said! We had this same machine for about 7 years. There's a little screen in fuel line at top by filter, crud gets sucked in if you run empty. Get yourself the factory repair manual it's awesome! It'll save you a ton of trouble. The number one problem we had was the front idler track spread out and it throws its tracks until we welded in bar stock to close in gap, this is another known common problem. Re; noise and smoothness of travel, You might have some bad bogeys, good news they aren't super expensive. Ours was a grey market machine from Japan. Japanese beer cans, snack wrappers and porn under that 'baby seat' ledge. lol. Only difference besides badges, yellow paint between this and Deere was the engine. Also go easy on ether if you ever use it in cold, we got excited and ended up having to replace some valve pushrods. Good luck with that bad boy, its a great machine!!
I fixed it. So nice when you can say that.
OK...ya made my day showing "ollie" AKA Oliver 😊
With that t shirt you need to shout Contact! when you start 😂
20 min video and I just learned more then the last 50 years about engins… Thank you! Best chanel on the tube!
Little Oliver looked lovely well done mum
Good job
Another great video! Thank you for painstakingly sharing this process. It's so much easier to just fix it and then make a video, but you never leave us hanging and share the whole process!
I dont know how you find the time to edit all this video after doing ALL THAT WORK and also TAKING CARE OF A NEWBORN!!! MAN OH MAN!! Amazing work you guys. much love
We’ve got some great people helping out this summer. It really does take a village!
Oliver is going to learn so much from you guys. He is one lucky baby. Thanks for sharing you lives we us, another enjoyable video.
Did everyone understand Oliver? As a grandfather of seven I absolutely understood. He was proclaiming his confidence in his daddy! Way to go, Riley and Ollie!
Yay! Oliver cameos are the BEST! Teresa (out of office camping) 💜
Well I can’t wait to see what you get into with this bigger excavator.
If the steep slope was causing the fuel to go dry, you could have rotated the rig 180 deg. Maybe next time. You might want to work on your bucket bushings too.
I really think that if you bought a huge box of whatever, you and Courtney could put everything together and make a workable SOMETHING. Baby Oliver is a jem. See you all on your next visit with us. Thanks
Congratulations! on the new excavator Riley & Courtney and great job on fixing it :) Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖😎👍JP
Your videos are a delightful way to start every Sunday
What a good excavator. Good investment. ❤❤
I went bigger a few years ago. Love the breakout force for digging up Sierra granite. But, I sure miss that 6 way blade.
Congratulations!! That is going to be a big help!! The baby is so beautiful! Work to be done now.
You guys need another out building to put all your toys. 60x 90 should be a perfect size
Yes!!!
Oliver is a legend ❤
I definitely see a pole barn equipment shed coming in the future.
Oh man, that would be amazing!
See if you can find service manuals for it, that may save you time when have repairs or service. You are amazing jumping in and repairing it ! You both are great at not given up. I worked for a number years as a field service mechanic and found you get the job done by jumping in and going for it.
Poor ol Ollie can’t see nuthin all bundled up like that, we wanna see more of Him!!!
So happy I found your videos. You two seem like a genuine couple of people. Great stuff!
I really think it is amazing how you both remain undaunted by large equipment. Repairs on that D8 were spectacularly achieved.
Some things make me worry a lil (like using the starter motor to move the excavator lol) but you guys will figure it out…I’m glad you share.
BTW if you every want to get some ideas on hydraulic maintenance and repair as well as heavy equipment… farmcraft101 is a fun and informative channel.
Between the two of your channels, I can live vicariously in the city.
That is a nice excavator! It’s pretty big, don’t put any holes in the building! 😂😜😬
Oliver will have soooooooo many big toys to choose from. I can c daddy locking up the keys 😂
Love the Diesel Creek shirt - my other favorite RUclips channel. We were just up in Sandpoint scouting for land.
Es buenísimo vuestro trabajo ❤ gracias por compartir
I really like the content that you guys put out keep up the good work❤❤
Make sure you get a shutoff switch for the batteries, will save you in the long run. Our 120 was a fuel hog, plus the air filter was always dirty lol. Oliver is really growing fast. No use putting in a car seat in that excavator, he will be running soon enough :)
I watched a 10 year old run an excavator on RUclips, and he was very good. That is what happens when the Parent actually does their job and teaches the young minds.
did you try putting in a cyclonic pre-filter & ducting the air inlet to somewhere cleaner?
I agree, not an option but a mandatory Paramount
Thanks for the update. I always enjoy your vids!! Lookin' good Oli... Imagine the fun you're going to have growing up!!!
Love your ability to diagnosis and solve your problems. Great positive spirit,
I find your heavy equipment videos highly engaging.
More please.
Thank you so much! We've got a fun bulldozer episode coming out next week.
@@AmbitionStrikes Goodie gòdie goodie!
i remember when she was that age! it's such an amazing journey. Enjoy it and take care of yourselves!
No concern, at this point, I believe Wreck-it Riley can fix anything. Nice DC t-shirt.
Hey a video where the wife doesn't get too mad about Riley buying big items 😂
Can't wait for the updates 😊
👍👍👍👍👍👌love the new to you excavator, also noticed the inspirational Diesel Creek shirt!!!
Baby Ollie is so precious!
LOL! In the scheme of things... that's still a baby! Congrats on the new ride, It is extremely user friendly. If it has had reasonable maintenance it should work well for you.
Riley just remember to grease every nipple points on the machine before use there's a few and check the Hydraulic oil to see that it is full i think you know the last one always refill the fuel tank up to full after use. I really enjoyed the video ❤
❤, love you all, always waiting for your blog 🎉
Ollie and Mom Are Cute.
Please don't hurt the excavator.
:)
Awesome!! I can't wait to see it in Action!! Sweet Oliver is Gorgeous!! God Bless and have a Wonderful Week!! ❤😊🌻
Yall sure have a knack for making things work, even when they don't. Great job !
Good fix!!
We are starting a big project (whole house solar) ... Watching you guys make me tired must watching but inspired!
A good life rule is to always check your oil, fuel and coolant before starting. Driving on the starter is not a heavy equipment thing. That said ... you two are simply amazing. Carry on. 😅
Congratulations 🎊 again on your new toy.
This will Definitely be a great addition to your many pieces of equipment.
Blessings from Paso Robles, California, Carlos ✝️🙏❤️😊❗️
Riley and Courtney, the 'new' excavator is a nice size that will meet most all of your needs. The other excavator was a little small for your projects. Oliver's carrier seems like a great way to let him see what you two are doing on your many projects. Blessings to you folks.
The size has already allowed us to do projects we couldn't do with our smaller Kubota!
Well done Riley. Nice upgrade of the machine guys. That's a game changer for sure.
Love that baby boy..so precious
Dang that is the biggest smile I've ever seen from Courtney! Ah yes we got another victory dance from a piece of equipment starting! hahaha Love the videos guys, thank you for sharing your adventures
Love that Riley was wearing a diesel creek shirt.
looking forward to seeing your logo on this new excavator
