    Wow, it's sooo lovely. Love the tone. And I love it that mango is so sustainable, produces nice fruits, AND sounds so good. Flight really makes it easy to be their fan. I was eyeing their top shelf ukes for a while now and this is probably the one I'd pick. But I'm not finished with Diana Soundwave yet. Gosh I love that uke.

    Wow! What a stunner. I love the bridge and bridge pins. Love the black edging, striping, and cutaway styling. I don’t mind the dark smudging ... that’s just me. I’m also love the offset fret markers. So cool.
    Sounds clear and well rounded to me. I’d definitely be happy with that one:)

    These reviews are great. I don't even own a uke. Although I've been considering a baritone for some time now. What impresses me is that the choice of very decent ukuleles seems to get better and better at most price points. This is a stunner. As a non uke owner this is perhaps the one I like best of all the reviews I've seen. Even though I'm not keen on gloss finishes.

    This is similar to Flight Mustang which comes in Flamed Acacia with a black headstock and a string-through bridge. I replaced the strings with Flurocarbons which really lifted the sound and it's now my favourite Ukulele. If I have to leave this earth with one thing it'll be the Mustang....now where is Sally?

    Flight has always impressed me. I have a cheap travel/plastic one which sounds decent for what it is. I'd be interested to see how their more serious ukuleles play and feel. I trust your reviews and opinions, as having purchased several of your recommendations - always spot on! Mim's Ukes started carrying Flight, so no other online store better than Mim's for a ukulele set up right in the US! Mango wood might be something different for my collection. Thanks for the review and look forward to the next.

    • @GotAUkulele

      They’ve long impressed me. They started with generic cheap laminates and took on board criticism. This is light years beyond where they started. But they still cater for the cheaper end - particularly with the brilliant travels you mention. Clever brand. They’d get my recommendation above Kala and Ohana now - easily.

      @@GotAUkulele Same with Anuenue. Its older models were just average in sound and make, but these few years the brand have taken quite a leap [or should I say flight?] with the bird ukulele and guitar series.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  3 года назад

      @@SmallUkeBigWorld Hmm - not sure I 'fully' agree - I remember when aNueNue first appeared and there were some great models. They even had signature models with people like Phil Doleman. Then they seemed to go cheaper, then disappeared. There was a very good higher end at the start though. Nothing like today to be fair - with the MoonBirds - they are something else!

    • @SmallUkeBigWorld
      @SmallUkeBigWorld 3 года назад

      Yap, maybe coz those I tried were mostly laminates and solid tops, which were quite overpriced in Asia here when compared to the Kalas and Ohanas with the same specs and similar quality. They did try to break the higher end market here with a Japanese made Dolphin Koa series but with the same price and similar specs, most people would go for a Hawaiian make at the time.

    I share your views on splatted mango. The first time I saw it I thought it was kind of nasty looking. It’s wood that has started to rot!
    Pinned bridges belong on guitars, not ukuleles. UGH.

    • @GotAUkulele
      @GotAUkulele  3 года назад +2

      It's not actually a spalted wood as such - not a true spalted - it's just a colouring in the grain of mango. Spalting is the jet black lines that follow the grain in woods like maple (and is actually a disease). This is not that - looks more like a smudge than distinct lines

Pono Acacia Deluxe Tenor - For me and my son the best sound of the 3, a clean and beautiful sound. Very bad finishes in the whole, full of glue, the frets of the arm with sharp points and a mark on the body, it is normal this bad finishes at Pono????. Flight Fireball Mango Tenor - A good sound, but not as perfect as the Pono, it does have a more open sound and with more sustain. The finishes, the best of the 3, but still with glue there is a view, the Mango wood it is not a beautiful wood, I will go now order a Flight Phantom Tenor to decide which one I will stay to play with my son.
