The video directly addressed the difference between the two exercises, however it was hard to SEE the difference between the two. When Valerie describes the foot placement with the split squat, it would really help if the camera actually showed her moving her feet into position rather than focusing on her face.
@@austin7530, you sound line a hell of a nice person.
This is the First Video to explain this subtle but important difference.Thanks.You are the true Teacher.
Can you guys do another take? This time with a full shot of the instructor?
I love videos that get to the point.
Wow, thank you. I just saw a workout with split squats and I couldn't for the life of me find out what was the difference between a split squat and a lounge. It's pretty clear now.
A lounge is something where you have drinks an listen to cool vibes
Thanks Valorie! Never understood the difference!
First example is a split squat, well executed (not a lunge). Second is kind of a reach-deadlift.
good info...a lot of different vids out there with their own interpretation of these two exercises. If you can't see the difference here simply focus on position of the kettlebells in relation to the front leg. (lunge - theyre even, in the middle, btwn front and back legs). Agree the video could show the entire body but it does zoom in on the knee, ankle and KBs so thumbs up. Thanks for the vid!
The Bulgarian split squats w/ a chair or bench are even more effective because there's more of a range of motion. The balance it requires works your core a lot more too. Very underrated exercise.
Thanks for this awesome video!
Thanks for the info, that helped!
Thank you🙏
Great explanation missing on the visual showing upper body - but thanks x
thankyou! helped a lot :)
Interesting. I have always thought the exercise you demonstrated as a lunge was a standard split squat, and that to make it a lunge you simply step forwards or backward (i.e. lunge) into a split squat.
+Kirrilee Russell its pretty much the same thing. split squats you just stay stationary while lunges are dynamic
simplejack891, nope! There are forward lunges and static lunges, just Google it. Not to mention there is backward/reverse/rear lunges.
Split squat is stationary. Lunge is dynamic. Execution is similar.
You can get static lunges as well!
TruthFoot, there are forward lunges and static lunges. Not to mention there is backward/reverse/rear lunges. Just Google it.
What the camera man does in this video... is worthy of murder...
yeahh lmao
Lol @ not filming the most important part of the video.. the difference between her lunge and her split squat... Wouldve been a good vid otherwise!
I really find a very good video but camera position sucked it completely..
Very hard to see the differences.
You showed exactly opposite to what I saw in previous video about 30 seconds ago .
Who to trust 😖😖😖😖
A lunge involves one foot moving...not static. So this video is completely wrong 🙄
sorry is not clear the difference...
Dislikes catching up..
When someone is talking about foot placement during a leg exercise.. you would expect to see shots of the feet. Video taking 101? Instagram girls are better at making videos than this.
This is in fact a STATIONARY LUNGE. why do people always want to rename exercises. This exercise has been around for over 35 plus years why change it now. Boo.
Have you watched the whole video??? The first is static lunges, the second split squats.
The most important part of a squat is your positioning of your back .... Wasn't even shown in the video and by the ways your legs look when doing it . Your form must be awful
Can't tell the difference. Bad execution. Fail
This is backwards at best.
SOmeone has a masculin face ...
