I remember that when i am in 2nd standered a magacian came to my school and at the end of that show he sells these Book for 5 rupee and i brought one 😢good old days 🙂
i remember we used to have a book full of these and they were collectible so u would get the images at the back and u had the paper so u could see them lol
Nicely done. For the waves, you see the "beat" (difference) frequency. Frequency is 1/period. So the length of a cycle of the "animated" pattern is 1/ the difference of the two other pattern spacings (periods). The motion demonstrates that phase difference is preserved (coherent) in the process. This is how a part of most radio and TV receivers work. Example with easy to see numbers: Spacing #1 = 4/16 = 1/4 (Freq = 4) inverse = 4/1 Spacing #2 = 5/16 (Freq = 3.2) inverse = 16/5 Freq difference = 0.8 Inverse of 0.8 = 1.25 = 20 /16ths 20 /16ths is longer than either of the two periods. The difference frequenci is smaller (lower) that the other two and therefore easier to amplify (in a radio). Make the wiggly lines different periods and the waves will have different frequencies. This is called "mixing", or heterodyning in radio. Thank Maj Armstrong.
A lot of people have been wondering how this thing works so I'll tell you. That plastic thing with the black lines on it only exposes that little bit of area where the black isn't. So when it passes over the paper which has the ''code'' for animation, it shows only some of the picture. So in more simple terms, All of the weird lines on the paper match a certain different line somewhere else on the paper therefor making them visible at the same time through the plastic thing. As the plastic thing moves, different lines come into view and cause a movement kind of thing. The ''code'' looks like stairs meaning that the animation has movement like going up and down. This was a pretty bad explanation but I hope this helped. :D
Good explanation. See my difference frequency explanation 3 weeks after your comment. Basic Radio electronics... Also look up lenticular animation - similar, but not same.
For those wanting to know how to do it, it's fairly simple. First decide how many frames your animation will have (for a 4 frame animation, make the bars on the acetate 3 blocks thick, with a 1 block space between each) Then create the images for your animation. Use your acetate image as a mask on each frame of the animation (offsetting it by 1 block for each frame)
Ya, I remember that I had a playing book with these sketches and this horizontally lined plastic sheet. Childhood memories got refreshed. Its literally amazing! 😘😍
This isn't a moire or interference effect strictly speaking. the frames of an animation are sliced and lined up next to each other so that the cover shows slices of frame 1, then of frame 2, etc. Note that all the animations have a short repeating structure with only about 4 or so unique pix.
I think optical illusions should be a specialisation within any academic arts program, given the complexity, similar to how maths is used to generate art, it often overlaps w science and engineering. Serious exhibits of these would be so neat.
You download pictures of it and print it. As for the paper, I believe you need a certain kind of printer to print it onto transparent paper however I did it a very hard way. I used a regular ink jet printer and although it smeared a little bit where I touched it. It worked out fine. It took an entire night to actually dry though.
It looks fantastic, but I think it's kinda weird 1. the second person must have had a broken neck since his whole head is able to be turned 360 degrees, especially it's more than just turning "once" 2. has anyone been running "backwards?" 3. I don't think the Parkman is able to finish eating and spit it out... ewwwwww
You get all the frames for your animation and split them apart into many columns of pixels for each one. Then you combine them all together. To do this, first place down the first column of every frame in the order you want them to appear. Then repeat until all the columns have been placed down. Then you get a piece of transparent plastic and print black stripes. The width would number of frames you have - 1. This way, the sheet blocks out the other fames and only show one. Now move it and look!
