    @lewis2553 2 года назад +2

    The "Wheel O" or magnetic rail device was sold as a toy in the 1960s and 1970s. I think Hasbro made them. The magnetic switch has been around since the early 1960s at least. They used to have one in the store near our house. They used it to lift nails from a bin and drop them in into a scale without impaling a finger.

    • @diollinebranderson6553

      It doesn't look big enough to contain a battery that could power a strong e-magnet.
      Maybe there's a strong magnet inside the yellow part that, when rotated, aligns with the bottom steel part, which transmits the magnet force?

    • @DrViktorFrankenstein
      @DrViktorFrankenstein 2 года назад +4

      You can "turn off" a magnet by having 2 magnets of same size and strength and forcing same sides together. For example N+N. It cancels the magnetic field of both. That's what he is doing by turning the knob. It is all mechanical, no electricity.

    I had one of those rail twirlers (number 4 on the vid) about fifty years ago and it was a _wonderful_ toy. You can whip that damn thing amazingly hard and the wheel simply will not detach. I'd recommend it without hesitation for any kid above six, hell, if I still had it around I'd be playing with it now!
    The magnetic putty is lots of fun too (you definitely need at least one rare earth magnet, like the one shown, to exploit the putty's full "fun potential"-also the video's producer should have noted that the several of the effects were shown employing time lapse photography (it takes quite a while, hours sometimes, for the putty to envelope an object).

    Your channel is one of the first I ever subscribed to God knows how many years ago (with another account). Never have I ever considered unsubscribing even though you don't post often. Because when you do post, it's amazing.
    I'm lowkey in love with you. That's what I'm trying to say

      isn't that the point of subscribing? Not missing a video from someone who does quality over quantity? I wouldn't see the point of subscribing to someone who uploads daily.
