I think there's an even stronger link between Mission: Impossible and Scientology. A film series about a highly secretive organisation, of which Cruise is a central poster boy, that frequently comes between him and his love life (I mean come one, Michelle Monaghan is basically a stand-in for Katie Holmes), but is ultimately essential to SAVING THE WORLD! It's the continuous, demonstrative swirling arm and hand movements, the permanent smile and perfect teeth that rile me. He"s the neighbourly psychopath in my little book. Like Rock Hudson, going all out not to look gay.
Agree 100%. When people laugh and joke, it's supposed to be relaxing...bonding even. When Tom does it, it's sinister, and has a menacing, untrustworthy vibe. I think it's because Tom has spent his entire life keeping down his true feelings, defended from his true self and insecurities, and 'rebuilding' a version of himself, acceptable to his audience, to him, to The Church, and generally playing whack-a-mole with problematic emotions, people and situations. Ostensibly living in his own Machiavellian controlling dystopia, where he almost fully believes the reflection he sees in the mirror. But just a flicker of unhappy child Tom comes through, when his buttons get pushed by the 'wrong' interviewer, or where PR goes off message. Happy days.
Once heard a critic of the original Mission Impossible say Austin Powers had sent up the action spy genre so much, no one could make one and have it taken seriously, so Cruise having nowhere to go, went nuclear.

The problem with him is that he is happy to destroy a film if he feels it is not about him and his character. The travesty that was the 'Mummy' is well known for that problem. He had large sections of the film rewritten to make his character more important with more screen time.
Do you know that scene near the end of The Matrix? Where Neo runs into Smith. Literally runs into him. Then bursts out. That's what I think Tom Cruise will do at some point. He's going to be so one with himself that someone is going to get exploded from the inside by him flexing. He's a very powerful man.
Yeah, but they're waaay softer now than they were years ago. They're shrinking, they have no staff (struggling to have enough staff to open the new orgs), Miscavige is involved in several lawsuits right now in which the judges will NOT give him some slack, one of their famous poster boys went to prison for multiple r4pes (Danny Masterson) and there's a small but very loud crowd giving them a hard time protesting for MONTHS and raising awareness on RUclips. CoS is on their way down. Just waiting for them to have their tax exempt status removed, and goodbye.
I love how on the first one of these michael did everyone was like "Haha I love this satire of video essays so good!" And then it turned out he wasn't being ironic...
I love that clip of Christian Bale saying he based his performance in American Psycho on Tom Cruise because he has dead eyes. Eyes Wide Shut BTW is just bad.. He terrifies me after watching Going Clear. The power of that organisation, and the way they go after anyone who challenges them, I do feel like a lot of Hollywood sucks up to him out of fear.
The problem with TC is that he wants to cut the boats in half, halve the economy, grow the times and stop the halves and he is intent to deliver on them. Terrifying.
Non representational anecdote - but after filming himself hanging out of a Airbus A400M at nearby RAF Wittering one day he apparently went into a pub in our town and "was very nice" and let people take selfies and bought a round of drinks or something. Still terrifying though yeah.

Excellent, his intensity scares me especially surrounding his very questionable behaviour within the Church of Scientology.
Absolutely brilliant, I love the new and original format of comedy😂😂😅😂👌🏽💯
Rain man was good.
And his science fiction-y movies; Like Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, Minority Report...
I loved Vanilla Sky
Your "Madness of Billionaires" video got deleted! Why?
I think the name got changed to the madness of millionaires
@ thanks!
Love these vids :D
Love your dad, pretty adventurous lad, all-in guy. You have got to make a better effort to keep up with him, why not join him shark swimming on Tuesday? 🤣🤪😉
Quite enjoying this new format. Very old school RUclips but like, well written
I like the plant in the window
It grows on you
That’s no plant that’s….thats….. OMG THATS TOM CRUISE! RUN MICHAEL, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
It's no lava lamp but it'll do. The videos could do with a Hiptang sponsorship though.
It's the continuous, demonstrative swirling arm and hand movements, the permanent smile and perfect teeth that rile me. He"s the neighbourly psychopath in my little book. Like Rock Hudson, going all out not to look gay.
You can never take a man in high heels too seriously.
~ Lilly Savage.
_Looks at Ukraine's president._
Really good video, made me think and laugh 👍
last time, your Dad thought the sat nav was a radio - CLASSIC Dad!
TC is the only man alive who can survive boiling a kettle on a boat.
Love your new content. Your delivery is spot on and you speak your truth, at least it seems that you make an effort. Thank you!
Nick Cody joke: "You know who doesn't do their own stunts? Tall actors."
Happy days.
My daughter reckons I love edge of tomorrow cos it's cruise getting killed over and over
Hadn't thought of it that way....😅
"Muscly running legs" 😂
Once heard a critic of the original Mission Impossible say Austin Powers had sent up the action spy genre so much, no one could make one and have it taken seriously, so Cruise having nowhere to go, went nuclear.
I love your humour.
I find him terrifying and creepy too. Great video 👌
@@gwarlowAhh. U're one of those annoying people who goes around criticising people 🙄. How cliché also
@@gwarlow Run down the ex-scientologist rabbit hole a bit. When part of your personal life believes that RPF is good for those going through it, there is something wrong.
" Xenu was the dictator of a galactic confederacy of 76 planets, who was captured and imprisoned on Earth 75 million years ago after bringing billions of his people to Earth, placing them around volcanoes and killing them by using hydrogen bombs." You are right to be terrified 😂
It's the Scientology that gives him that creepy, zealous vibe.
The way he says " "Mission Impossible" films" at 6:00 is worth noticing.
Notice it.
Michael - why did you just make the millionaires video private when I has half way through watching it, it just blacked out 😭 Did musk/elon come after you 😂
I enjoy your videos
The problem with him is that he is happy to destroy a film if he feels it is not about him and his character. The travesty that was the 'Mummy' is well known for that problem. He had large sections of the film rewritten to make his character more important with more screen time.
Do you know that scene near the end of The Matrix? Where Neo runs into Smith. Literally runs into him. Then bursts out. That's what I think Tom Cruise will do at some point.
He's going to be so one with himself that someone is going to get exploded from the inside by him flexing. He's a very powerful man.
"... of *other* RUclips videos." I think it's safe to say that Michael knows what "fair game" means to a scientologist. 🤣
Very clever digital-aging/deaging done in the video 👍
(Although to be fair the scarf might be doing a lot of the heavy lifting)
Patrick Batemans character in American Psycho is based on Tom Cruise
your cuts are well placed
I love that clip of Christian Bale saying he based his performance in American Psycho on Tom Cruise because he has dead eyes.
Eyes Wide Shut BTW is just bad..
He terrifies me after watching Going Clear. The power of that organisation, and the way they go after anyone who challenges them, I do feel like a lot of Hollywood sucks up to him out of fear.
Thanks for some Tom Cruz dialogue . I was happy to see him strip away his cultivated persona, in 'Magnolia'. I never liked his persona much.
No me neither. I try to avoid films with Cruise, although I was impressed with Magnolia.
The problem with TC is that he wants to cut the boats in half, halve the economy, grow the times and stop the halves and he is intent to deliver on them. Terrifying.
Nice one!
Tom Cruise's movies seem like vanity productions to me
Non representational anecdote - but after filming himself hanging out of a Airbus A400M at nearby RAF Wittering one day he apparently went into a pub in our town and "was very nice" and let people take selfies and bought a round of drinks or something. Still terrifying though yeah.
Spot on
Has anyone else noticed that, with every year that passes, Tom Cruise looks more and more like Mr Magoo?🤔
I see what you mean...
He's really good at playing himself in every movie he's in....
1999 also had the South Park movie
Tom Cruise once met the Grim Reaper and the Grim Reaper ran away. That's why he's not afraid to do all his own stunts.
Did Tom pull out a Scientology pamphlet?
@@1inchPunchBowl Disconnected I bet.
I want to see the madness of millionaires :P
