We were kids at this concert! I was 13 years old. I loved Crüe like I loved hustler magazine. We walked 14 miles through farms and backroads even on the freeway. Thank God for those experiences. Thanks for the post✌️
Vince knew he was off , he kept plugging his ear with his finger cause he couldn't hear himself. They didn't have all that fancy shit like now. Who cares they still kick ass and hot as hell!!
It wasn’t that. The monitor guy hadn’t tuned the system very well. Do u not hear all that feedback? There shove that much squeal unless Vince was pointing his mic into the wedges, which he wasn’t. This of course put him off. It’s also why he was trying to save one ear. He kept backing away from those wedges bc if he belted out the lyrics then the feedback would be worse. That’s also a sign of poorly set gain structure. In the monitor guys defence though, it was a festival & things like this are set mainly for the headline act with a little bit of a retune allowed for the opening acts. These days of course with digital desks one would record all settings & let each bands FOH or foldback guy set his own, if they have one.
HD Cameras existed (35mm film cameras, used since the 40s have a quality equivalent to 6K resolution). the problem was that no TV could support that quality, so it was kinda useless. You can see a lot of 80s-70s footage in 4k. Search the any of this shows: Led Zeppelin Madison Square garden 1973, Elvis Presley Las Vegas 1970, Wham- Last Christmas (4k remaster), you'll see. If Motley still owns this master tape and was filmed with a decent camera (probably, because this was an important big festival), pretty sure they could release it in an amazing quality.
@Guitargreat I saw Crue, warm up for Ozzy, shout at devil tour! Girls girls girls, only went to meet girls in audience! Tommy was good but that's it!!! They were overrated. No vocal or lyrical talent, just drums.
CarMoves No he’s trying to save his eardrum from the feedback. In these early days they probably didn’t have their own monitor engineer so the PA rigger was probably having a go.
Me too,was 12 but tell me on how did we go from Led Zeppelin, the mighty Van Halen to this suck ass glam era full of B grade bands??? Please, never again,oh lord please, never again!
No excuse...I always wonder on how did we go from Led Zeppelin, the mighty Van Halen to this suck ass glam era full of garbage B grade bands??? Seriously, never again please! Mais oui,ouh là là!
@@nicolassosolic3760 I have a soft spot for the Crüe just because they were harder and trashier than other glam bands of the time. In fact, I don't even think they are really glam. I never liked that glam crap, but the only Mötley Crüe I like is the first one. It's actually pretty punk sounding. I'm completely over Rape Zeppelin now. They were terrible people.
Saw them Reunion Arena, Dallas Texas. 1980 something. Motley Crew opened for Ozzy and Randy. The Oz was recovering from some nasty stomach Injections. No longer given access to bats he had to resort to raw liver. Unforgettable Time!
Out of fairness, it was 110 dry heat that day, they played second after Quiet Riot, peak heat of the day. De-tuning the guitars, however, Vince cant hear, and the intro, he is singing in the wrong key. He catches up in the chorus. (I was 21 back then, and I thought Vince and Tommy were women at first lmao) They were just breaking then
Me too! Motley Crue was totally fucking killer that day!!!! They totally ruled that day. The soundman kind of gave them kind of a dry mix especially on the vocals, but who cares. They were wicked every night in those days. I always loved Motley Crue. But the first three albums were my favorite. The "Shout At The Devil" tour was the best ever..
Is it me or was the US festival the last true big music fest we have seen in the states outside of the first lollapalooza? Man their were a lot of great bands that played this without a particular genre being represented although Hard rock and Glam Metal were on the way up and well represented at US.
crow offroad Speak of the devil tour by Ozzy ..Brad Gillis finished the Diary tour after Randy died...Jakes first large show I think with Ozzy after a few smaller European gigs? ..Crue jumped on the BATM tour soon after this. 😀✌️
its about a yougn man with four 4 kids and full of responsability and go get a ride on a merry go round near his hous, and lost his mental and didnt want to stop riding and return to his life. He is too young
Saw them live a few years ago, thinking: They're getting too old. But even in '83 he didn't know his lyrics and the guitars are playing out of tune,....
Kenson Taylor that's relative tuning within the equal temperament. And even-though no guitar can be truly in tune, Micks guitar is most definitely out of tune...not to mention Vince!
brandon242 They were on and off as far as shows...But Vince obviously Couldn’t Hear well and started off pitch and never recovered..Motley’s biggest show at that point and maybe ever!!! ..US festival was gigantic and I remember being a kid and tripping that they actually had a metal day scheduled ♥️

No way!!! Your so lucky!
I was 8 when I became a fan, and finally got my chance at the GGG tour! Tommy was fucking amazing on the kit!! Forever CRÛE!!!
What one wouldn't do to see them in concert. Thanks for sharing.

Thats the signal to the board that you cant hear the monitor. He wasnt plugging his ear
Just imagine if someone had a HD camera 33 years ago!
You would see that they put their makeup on with 4 inch putty knives
That's some funny shit.
Come on y'all ! ! !
They did
Looks cool like when see an old hendrix video

Love playing this riff. Been playing it for 15 years straight.
Dear sound man,
Vince putting his hand to his ear means he can't hear himself. Turn the shit up.
Thank You
No, he's putting his finger in his ear to check if he's in key (he's listening "inside" his head)
@Guitargreat I saw Crue, warm up for Ozzy, shout at devil tour! Girls girls girls, only went to meet girls in audience! Tommy was good but that's it!!! They were overrated. No vocal or lyrical talent, just drums.
Michael Sheperd glam wasn’t about lyrics and so mick didn’t kill it ?
To hear what??? He's no Freddy Mercury,is he?

Mick Mars is probably my favorite member of this band.
Broke the needle on my vinyl just trying to play this over and over again. Such luck and irony.
Didn’t go round and round?
I like it even if there is sound problems its raw and timeless
The only sound problem is that Vince can't sing.

Wow!! Motley Crue were all so very young in 1983.And so were we from the oldschool 1983. I was 12 in 83.

He pretty much carried them.
