I was just thinking the same thing. This is a really performant use of the 404. Most ppl play one track and lay FX on the top. I feel like this was a great intersection of playing and filtering. Very entertaining to follow. Well done. 10/10 would nod my head back and forth.

@@shawnjemal8422 I got the drum loop on one pad and then I'm playing the sample chops live like stabs. For the vocal parts I matched the tempo to the drums in ableton, then loaded them in the 404 and triggered them on beat.

Incredible! do you have the compressor on while fingerdrumming?
no i needed the other effects for transitions and stuff so taking the comp on and off would have been too jarring. Now I got a second SP, on OG, that i use to to compress the signal from the first one so i can still do FX while also having consistent compression.
If I tried this I am 100% confident that at some point my 404 would slide off the rock into the water, ending my life.

Super inspirational! Do you do the samples in Ableton then move them or do you make them on the SP404?
All the beats in this video i've done most of the editing in Ableton and then brought them over to the 404. I made most of these while riding the metro to work and then adapted them to be played on the SP. thanks for asking!

hey! how did you record the sound to then use for this video and hear it while playing too? couldn't see any cables in the back?
When i filmed this i still didnt own any RCA cables, so I just stuck that guitar cable into the phones output and sent it to the tascam recorder. Then I put my headphones in the tascam recorder to monitor the recording. I still think this is a smart practice to record live video so that you don't do your recording, head home, and then listen back to find out you were peaking and have a distorted recording or cable issues.

The recording device (Tascam-008) I didn't adapters for the RCA into a TRS at that time so I used a guitar cable.

Hi, how do you record your live audio?
for this one i used a Tascam portable 8-track. Now i have a Zoom H4n i use thats a lot smaller and easier to hike around with.
@@CruelBuddhist So the signal goes out the headphone port to the Zoom H4n and you monitor through the H4n?
@@yitao_ yes, but usually i just make sure the recording on the zoom isn't peaking and then i monitor directly from the 404. There isn't any latency with the zoom or tascam but i do it that way just in case.
