    I have same same leak!! It is the Upper Sump Gasket from what I can see, it involves removal of catalytic converter brackets, some A/C Compressor bolts, the oil pan, oil feeder (will need a replacement gasket too) and a rear mount bracket. All to get to one gasket which is located between the block skirt and lower crankcase! So far, I have removed and replaced half the exhaust brackets due to rust. So have used high heat paint to try and protect the new brackets. Might fully remove the cat and paint it while i'm at it but need to get the mother of rusted bolts off first...
    Anyway, you do a video when you sort that out, and I'll follow it once I got the exhaust off 🤣🤣🤣

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  Год назад

      Great info!! Yeah it could be that gasket. On more than one occasion (engine mounts mainly) I've supported the engine on a jack via the sump, so things maybe have been over-squeezed a few times.

      @@Horus_Works Apparently they typically go on the corners or on the semi-circle areas. Check the bell housing drain as well for engine oil... It's a case of good design at the expense of reduced gasket longevity.

      I have a 2000 Ford Focus SE . I’ve went through 2 pumps until I googled about history on the car & found the oil type was changed 5W-20 (All TEMPS) - This specification has been updated from ((5W-30 to 5W-20 per a Technical Service Bulletin from the manufacturer 5W-20 is the preferred viscosity. )) Then I found online (All power steering systems built after 1998 require the use of MERCON V fluid.)) after I blew the 1st & replaced to the 2nd & used that I had no problem no problems…

    Hi mate thanks for doing that video, very helpful. One question, where did you get that union nut seal/O ring from? Was it part of the kit? I have a Ford Transit VJ and have a new pump to put on, but seal not included. I can only seem to find them with the nut included. The Rockauto site doesn't even list the Transit as an option, which is weird. Cheers.

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  Год назад +1

      Hey Gavin, yep all the o-rings were included in the kit that I bought. I'm not sure if they have Transit vans in the States... so that may be why the car isn't listed? My Ford Courier ute here, is actually a Mazda B2200 over there.... My Ford Focus Zetec here is a Ford Focus ZX3 over there... In any case, just make sure your pump is identical to mine (this Ford pump came on a lot of models), and you should be okay.

    Hey mate, I have the 2003 1.8l LX. I am getting a loud clunk/click from around the area the power steering pump is. Could it be a bearing on the pulley? any thoughts? The noise happens every 30 secs to a minute. Its not constant. Appreciate any advice! loving the content too! great work!

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  Год назад +1

      Hey Clint, thanks for your support mate. The power steering doesn't have a bearing as such, as the p.s. pulley is pressed onto a solid metal shaft that's being rotated by the belt, so it can't be a bearing noise from the power steering system. If the noise isn't constant, I would doubt that it's a bearing from any another pulley either, as you would hear it every half a second or so. One thing that comes to mind, is maybe you have something lodged in your power steering fluid? That debris may then be making a noise as it circulates though the system. Just my thought from afar. Try to pin down where the noise is coming from, and if it is in the p.s. system, I'd bet it's something like that. The dirt/fragment wouldn't have to be big to create a noise, as the tolerances in the pump are very tight. A comprehensive fluid flush will probably solve it if this is your problem.

      @@clintcocliff6216 Hey Clint, I don't know if you've solved your problem already, but it sounds like it could be the same problem I'm having with mine. I've narrowed it down to the AC compressor, and it could be simply that the AC system doesn't have enough refrigerant in it.
      Here's an example if the issue I'm having.
      Look at 2 min 19 seconds:

      Hey mate, the hoses are great. No issues so far at all. Being silicone, they should last a lot longer than rubber hoses, but they are pricier. There is a video I made of me putting them on while swapping out the water pump, thermostat, coolant flush, etc.

    Is that the right size teflon seal that you put on the high pressure line? There are 3 teflon seals in the kit I got, but 2 are way too big and one is slightly too small to drop on . I've seen seal installer tools that stretch teflon seals slightly so they go over the threads, then sit in a groove between the thread and the hex. Did you need to stretch the seal to get it on the fitting?

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  4 месяца назад

      Hey Andy, yep, the teflon seal that came in the power steering pump rebuild kit fit perfectly - and yest it was snug to put on. My rebuild kit had a couple of spare seals too, and I think they are there for other steering pump rebuilds - maybe the kit caters for more than one type of power steering pump. On this Focus Mk1 the teflon seal I used was tight to put on, I had to wind it over the threads to get it to seat at the base of the bolt. And confirming that after over a year - no leaks whatsoever. Hope that helps and thanks for your support 👍

    • @Horus_Works

      Hi yes, it is a teflon material not rubber. From memory I believe the new seal came in the rebuild kit that I bough for the power steering pump. If you can't find a teflon seal, maybe try using lots of teflon tape. This is where I purchased the kit from - good luck: www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2001,focus,2.0l+l4+dohc,1385524,steering,power+steering+pump+seal+kit,7407
