i have a 1997 yamaha 2 stroke on my 20ft kayot pontoon boat,never had any issues,starts up everytime and pushes my boat at a nice 27 mph.

Had mine to 5000 rpm
Use lower pitch to increase rpm.. 1 pitch down = +200 rpm
