Fun build. Interesting seeing how long it takes to build boost. I suppose it’s because in a boat it’s a bit like the engine being told to pull a loaded trailer up a hill in 3rd gear from 0 rpm. Not much to be done about it I guess, have to wait until the rpms build up. Not really a problem once you are up and running but a great demonstration why they don’t put diesels in ski boats. 😂. Never seen anyone shorten a lower unit like that. Good work 👍
nowt to do with that if the turbo was larger the lag would be less,, but boost doesnt mean HP it just assits in getting the RPMs up and in the marine world its about getting up on the plain,, I have worked on INCAT high speed pass catermarans with 5000 hp Ruston RK diesels,,, you have 4 of these in 2 engines rooms,, boost is low at 1.5 to 2.3 bar but it still propells 4000 odd ton of alluminium at 35 knots,,, Diesel is King !
Well, as we say in scandinavia; nobody respect a coward. And this guy shure as hell did put the hammer down. So, norway has this insane boat, Finland has the ridiculous fjordsnipa with 800hp cummins, and we in Sweden has the R1 powered spark/kick (260+ km/h on ice). So..... What about Denmark..?
@@nukapetrussen4547 What can i say, i´m not surprised! 25yrs ago a friend of mine cut off the bottom on a 6m wooden snipa, and put it on the bottom from a scarab race boat, that had been in a fire. Driven from a propshaft with an twin turbo 11 lit volvo truck engine, it shure was fun to ride in. Did about 45 knots. Looking forward to your new video, go Norway!

Nice build! Sounds like you would like to change the prop pitch to a slightly lower one, alternatively gear down the motor a little bit so you hit the boost before planing even in unfair conditions!

I want to build om648 outboard with a foot from a Stern Drive Alpha One or whatever but I want to cut it and have the shaft on the back and have a synchronous belt to the crankshaft of the engine inside of a cover I see that you cut and shortened the foot so I guess the shaft could be also welded on the other side
@@stianjohn Okay, Sir. Simply add wings to the roof and make the z-drive much longer. Then you will definitely gain more speed! Additionally you will have no bumpy ride any longer! 😁 ;-) Adding a hydrofoil thingi to the hull/bottom might have the same effect and will be cheaper. Of course you can always put this fantastic Mercedes engine in a bigger boat. Best regards, luck and health in particular.

@@stianjohn it definitely fly's I've got an old 1960 land rover I'm giving it another make over going from 3.5 V8 to 3.9 V8 that's also dangerous at speed No seat belts crap brakes No roof half the time I suppose you do have water to hit but think it would still be painful Good luck with it Made a lovely job 👍

@@kristoffscuba5466 a better size turbo end the problem is gone :). There is a skiboat with that engine on RUclips also ;)
I would say maybe supercharger with compound turbo?
This problem would be eliminated if the screw could change angle.

Denmark is mostly pussys to scared if they are breaking any law. There always a few exceptions, but very few in denmark

After all this great work, this boat is unsafe. It obviously needs to be stabilized (fins, keels, plates) and the front needs some weight.

The hull of this boat is not designed for high speeds. You can see how he begins to dolphin - prowl to the sides at heights above 70-80.
