Is this something you would like to see more of? If so what minis, what techniques would you want to be covered in that video? 🖌️ Pre order Squidmar BRUSHES & BUSTS: www.squidmar.com/latepledge
Yes please. On space marines preferably space wolves lol. Love your work. Thanks for this video. Helps so much for us new painters. Oh and any technique. Your awesome!
Since the miniature is 3D-printed... what about the same paintjob, but with oil colors intead of acrylics? Then a comparison video. Edit: also, powder pigments, craclé mediums, etc... the more exotic stuff. It would be interesting to see how it all mesh together.
Thank you so much for all your videos! I've always wanted to try Warhammer but always felt like I couldn't do it. After watching your videos I finally had the courage to buy a set and some tools. This has also really helped my mental health as well during the pandemic
Really appreciate this video. One could have easily (and understandably) made this a Patreon only video but here it is! New people are getting into the hobby everyday and content like this is the reason for it. Thanks a lot!
@Squidmar Miniatures: I never painted any minis in my life, but 2 weeks ago I stumbled over a video from you and - oh man - every time my child sleeps I cant stop watching them since then. Always jumping back and forth in your timeline. Its so interesting to watch you paint and the sense of excitment from you over every miniature and detail is so refreshing. The music is a great addition, not to much in the front but noticably emphasizing the right moments. Your paints are so incredibly pleasing to the eye. I aways stop the video when the figure is done and try to spot some more detail I missed. Oh and I notice way more colour transitions and nice compositions in nature since I started watching. Thank you so much for your content! This video was amazing!
I enjoy Masterclass lessons. AFter watching your video on wet palettes I am nestling down to watch an hour long tutorial, but I know that I will come out the back end more knowledgeable and more eager to put into practice what you have taught me. I understand that this video is over a year old but hey I just started learning and want to become better version of myself. Thank you for this and many other videos you have uploaded. They are of a great help and source of betterment that I have already applied some things your other videos have taught me and I am excited about making more skillful and detailed paint work in the future! Thank you very much for your time and effort! EDIT: Subscribed and liked!
This is really excellent! I like how you edited everything together, its a lot easier to follow and more engaging than a live stream recording. Thanks for all the work you put into this and sharing here for all of us!
Love this content. Part of my painting practice is to watch other talented painters. Please make more end-to-end paint jobs like this. I like to hear the thought process behind.
At 3:43 he gives you one of the most important lessons of human body painting that most people won’t learn in their lifetime as an artist. Truly appreciate this being shared.
I have been building and painting resin kits for over 25 years. I learned a few things in this video. I'm 54. Never to old to learn. Another great vid.
This is the best painting video I have seen in a long time. Using photo shop to demonstrate your thought process is brilliant. Thanks for this tutorial, keep it up.
A reminder that it is okay to feel frustrated if things aren't going exactly how you imagined. You still made progress, you're still moving forward, you will get better the more you do, it's okay, your work is still valid. Airbrush clogs happen, brushes don't always behave as you want, thinning paints can go wrong, blending might not be as smooth as you felt you could do. It's okay, keep at it :)
I always had the feeling some people are too lazy to do this or maybe they just do not want to show their techniques in detail for others to actually follow. This kind of content will really generate you lots of viewers and subs Emil.
There is a real mental similarity between the planning for painting a mini, and planning for painting a graffiti piece. Layered from the bottom to the top in the same way, solid chunks of color, blends on top, fine details. Nice vid.
This was easily the best painting video I have ever seen. The content, commentary, and photoshop visual aids were all top-notch. I learned a lot - thank you!
Thank you so much for sending me here from the ork skin video. I always thoughts you wanted the tear/lines between the muscles to be darker because they would look shaded and cooler compared to the center of the muscles that would look warm. This really helped. I also wanted to say thank you. Watching you videos made me love this part of the hobby and my minis have improved a lot from watching you. I hope to meet you one day and learn to paint just like you. I am hoping to enter my first painting contest next year. Have a wonderful day
This is the first time I've watched a video that thoroughly, and I mean THOROUGHLY explains and maps out skin tones and highlighting!!!!! THANK YOUUUUU!!!!
A friend of mine recommended your page for this and he was absolutley right. Thank you so much for this master class and the beginner class. Loved both the videos and cant wait to see more from you. Keep up the great work
Love how everything is put together in this video. Seeing the whole process for using so many techniques together to complete a whole model start to finish is fantastic.
Commenting because you should be reminded of how ALL of your content is helpful, not just the most recent or most popular videos! I'm a new subscriber and I've already learned so much from you; it is so valuable to be able to watch your work as you progress through a mini - the little details of what each phase looks like, feels like, etc. Is exactly what I needed. Thank you for enjoying what you do, as it comes through in your craft!!
This is amazing! You are so fun to watch and an incredible teacher! I sat down with a model after watching this and I felt so confident, I could picture what your brush was doing and I just tried to do the same, that's the first time I've highlighted and actually feel like I've done it right!
I don't paint miniatures, I paint... well... ...paintings. Or at least I try to. What I wanted to say is that this video has helped me rethink a lot of how I render surfaces in regular old painting.
Thank you for your videos. My wife and I both just started painting minis with no painting experience. Your videos really helped us get started, and I really like how you emphasize to just do it and don't worry about screwing up. I've done about 10 minis now and becuase of your videos and just trying stuff my progress from number 1 to 10 is amazing. Thanks again, its really appreciated.
Just been rewatching this video to help me with my latest projects - restoring nativity statues for my son's school and local church. It's amazing how the skills I have as a miniature painter transfer to this much larger form!
I know these long technical videos don't get as many views, but I love this so much! So very helpful, especially because there aren't as many videos about painting busts! Thank you.
You slippery squid you... Thank you SOOOoooo much for the time, effort and sheer amazing knowledge you have gifted us with. It never ceases to amaze me just how generous a lot of the "art" community here is. As for would we like to see more? Are you kidding, yes please with a cherry on top. I would actually love to see your take on a book nook! They are uber popular and trending and man could you go nuts! In all seriousness though, Thanks you very much for doing this.
First off, love the video! I do think though this video is NOT for beginner painters. Many new painters aren't going to start with airbrushing so I think, although this is a great video, it is NOT for a beginner but for those who have been painting for some time and are ready to step up into the world of airbrushing.
Emil, thank you for this, just painted my first Bust and it is so different from painting a 32mm mini. I was happy with the result but know I can get better - using a £30 airbrush and compressor and 2 50pDaler Rowney synthetic brushes (suprisingly good quality from Poundland if anyone is in the UK) did restrict me but really made me think about what I was doing and how I approached the paint job. Yourself, Miniac, Dana, Midwinter, Broadsword and Marco have all been a big help to me and I know I will be looking at this video a lot in the future. Keep up the good work and please, more of this.
This is by far my favourite of your videos. So much advice and things to try out on my future projects. Thank you for the detail and information you gave.
Been watching you just recently, You are my go to guy if i have any issues with painting my minitures. im a long time D And D nerd. i recently started to collect and print minitures thanks for your videos keep on painting.
watched this once and i promise ill be watching this more and more .. great video ~!~ tyvm Squidmar Miniatures , you are the reason why this week ill be getting painting miniatures finally ~!~
I very much enjoyed this. As a matter of fact, this was the video that convinced me to join your patreon. Thanks for sharing your ideas, tips, and techniques with us. You are a very good teacher.
did my first wet blend today on something small and out of sight and was supprised at how good it was. though it was something simple like purple and dark purple, I'm somewhat glad at how (easy?) it was & that I've reached a sort of milestone in miniature painting!
Thanks Emil! This video was very helpful and will be for a long time to come. Learned a lot about the techniques you use to get those sweet effects! Definitely looking forward to working on some more painting projects!
This was an amazing tutorial! I haven't gotten my package of busts and paintbrushes yet but I'm so excited when it dose and this way I have time to order the few paints I don't already have. Thank you for the time investment you put into all this, it's helped me in my hobby greatly!
I love everything I see of yours. I am just now getting into Warhammer 40k I am putting together my first mini's. I have painted Reapers fantasy stuff in the 28mm size I believe.
I think a video on colour theory would be extremely helpful and one I haven't seen on youtube amongst the TT mini crew. I went to Sheridan for Art fundamentals and colour theory was one of my favourite classes and I am sure there is much more to learn. Warm/cool colours, mixing paints to take advantage of this and trying monochromatic paint jobs to learn volumes, a grayscale to focus on shadows and a full colour of the same model.

Where can I find the music used in your video? I what to paint listening to it 😊
Bruh I literally watched like 4 and a half mins of the video and you've revolutionised how I paint muscles
Shh, don't tell anyone the secrets!
True! I literally painted an Ork today and the way I painted the skin and muscles looks better than any other Ork I’ve painted. Thanks.
No muscle is an island, that's my new motto
So true
Yeah, I had no idea all I needed to do was use Photoshop!

Yes please. On space marines preferably space wolves lol. Love your work. Thanks for this video. Helps so much for us new painters. Oh and any technique. Your awesome!
Yes, but with time stamps
I now know why this took so much time investment, an hour long!! Woooo!!! Please do a Zion Ork one when you have the time!
They will come
Since the miniature is 3D-printed... what about the same paintjob, but with oil colors intead of acrylics? Then a comparison video.

Painting? What's up with that? Thought this was an "entertainment" channel.
Yeah I know I'm not allowed to make painting videos, but I had promised one 🙄
@@SquidmarMiniatures Nooooooo! More of these, that is why I am here🤨😉
Yeah? Where is the painting blind folded upside down using a tooth brush speed paint?
@@dialupsyndrome1910 Hey, I would watch that. Trainwrecks are fun!
This is really excellent! I like how you edited everything together, its a lot easier to follow and more engaging than a live stream recording. Thanks for all the work you put into this and sharing here for all of us!

"Highlights all the way up" - thanks man. That is what i was missing.
At 3:43 he gives you one of the most important lessons of human body painting that most people won’t learn in their lifetime as an artist. Truly appreciate this being shared.
Yes I’m definitely guilty of creating lonely muscle islands on some of my figures before I saw this
100%! I've been painting some vampire skin recently and couldn't put my finger on why it didn't look right, but this is it!
I have been building and painting resin kits for over 25 years. I learned a few things in this video. I'm 54. Never to old to learn. Another great vid.

Bruh literally been waiting for someone to do this forever
Wow. Thank you Mr. Squidmar. You have just revolutionized the way I paint forever.
Oh man, a full hour of painting tutorial. I'm gonna need to clear up my schedule for this one.
A reminder that it is okay to feel frustrated if things aren't going exactly how you imagined.
You still made progress, you're still moving forward, you will get better the more you do, it's okay, your work is still valid.

Just finished my 2nd mini... ever... dont think I'm at this point yet. But it's something to work towards. LoL
Keep workin at it, you'll get there!

I really like how it looks painterly and realistic simultaneously
This is the first time I've watched a video that thoroughly, and I mean THOROUGHLY explains and maps out skin tones and highlighting!!!!! THANK YOUUUUU!!!!

honestly that is probably one of the most interesting minis i've ever seen. the paint job tho is able to do it justice :)
worst thing about watching a video so long on figure painting is falling asleep and waking up towards the end... :D
This is amazing! You are so fun to watch and an incredible teacher! I sat down with a model after watching this and I felt so confident, I could picture what your brush was doing and I just tried to do the same, that's the first time I've highlighted and actually feel like I've done it right!
Can't wait to see
This video is PURE GOLD!!! Thanks you so much for this!
This is by far the best Miniature Painting Step by Step ive ever seen, Respect!
Phenominal video... cant stress how useful this is going to be
Thank you for sharing such an in depth video with us for free!
I don't paint miniatures, I paint... well... ...paintings. Or at least I try to. What I wanted to say is that this video has helped me rethink a lot of how I render surfaces in regular old painting.
Emil, ive needed this exact video for so long. Thank you.

Masterclass? Nice.
For free? Very nice.
I am speechless. Great vídeo. Thanks a lot for sharing this.
Your painting style is so pretty!! It's reminiscent of arcane's shading style, and I honestly cannot get enough of it!! 😭😭
That first stroke highlight under the pectoral muscle was just... Amazing? Beautifully deliberate? Words can't describe.
I know these long technical videos don't get as many views, but I love this so much! So very helpful, especially because there aren't as many videos about painting busts! Thank you.
This is pure gold. The muscle highlight tip is invaluable!
I love your channel you were one of the first painters I watched and really got me into the hobby
5 mins In, and I have already learned something,
Amazing video man
All praise the lord of undeath
Thanks for such a great video. Watched it intently from start to finish. I am now off to paint some muscles.

This has been immensely helpful, especially your method on highlighting skin which totally blew my mind. :)
Happy to report that I got my brushes and bust today - I'd love to see a Tattoo tutorial on the 28/32mm scale if possible.
These longer videos are the best you've ever made. So happy I backed the KS. Looking forward to getting my brushes and busts!

An hour of Squidmar? Cancel my zoom calls!
Thanks for the masterclass, I really enjoyed seeing the whole process with some explanations
I love the green osl! And the squid. And the nnm! So much awesome in one video.
Best mini painting video I've seen so far. You got all covered in this video. Thank you so much for your contribution to the hobby.
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!! That kind of content is a gold source of information! Thank you so much!

epic use of lighting effects...love it
its such a good masterclass, you should definetely do it more, even only for patreon, because we can learn so much from it :D
This video is a pure masterpiece! Thank you for your efforts, I'm sure this was a huge project to film etc.
One of your best videos for sure: very descriptive and a great result. Would love to see more long ones like this.
This is by far my favourite of your videos. So much advice and things to try out on my future projects. Thank you for the detail and information you gave.
This video actually makes me want to try and paint skin! I usually avoid it like the plague! Thanks Emil! Keep up the good work 👍👍
Been watching you just recently, You are my go to guy if i have any issues with painting my minitures. im a long time D And D nerd. i recently started to collect and print minitures thanks for your videos keep on painting.
I enjoy your typical video format, but this was more than welcome!

What an excellent video. I learned so much about highlighting skin. Thanks for sharing

Dude... This is unbelievable

Amazing Work!!! Thanks for sharing all those little secrets hahaha the ink at the end made a really great finish...
Thanks Emil! This video was very helpful and will be for a long time to come. Learned a lot about the techniques you use to get those sweet effects! Definitely looking forward to working on some more painting projects!
Excellent video and just a beautiful paint job on a wonderful bust!
Please keep these masterclass coming! Pretty darn good!
This was an amazing tutorial! I haven't gotten my package of busts and paintbrushes yet but I'm so excited when it dose and this way I have time to order the few paints I don't already have. Thank you for the time investment you put into all this, it's helped me in my hobby greatly!
So many new techniques! Thank you for such a complete and brilliantly explained paint job.
Love that we can see every brush stroke. Nice format too! Thank you so much for this! Hope you will do more Master classes.
I love this type of long form style painting video, this is gonna be super helpful for me! Thanks Emil!!
Thanks...this helps create a greater interest in a hobby we love.
This is great video! At last I could learn to paint like a pro!Greetings from Poland
love this video. learning so much, rewatched it like 20 times
thanks so much for this
Very nice and comprehensive document. Congratulations!. Thank you!!
Thanks a lot for that amazing video. I always struggle to find where to place the light on NMM, but I think I understand now. Thanks so much.
This a great description of how to highlight THANK YOU SO MUCH
Bro.... this is freaking killer. Thank you so much man.
I just got that bust! So excited to paint it!
I absolutely love when you do painting tutorials , fantastic 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Best Painting tutorial. Thanks man
thank you for all the work you put in
As a newbie, this really is a beautiful piece of art. Thank you for allowing us to see your talents.....!!!
I'm still stoked that you played in Zonaria. Hahaha amazing vídeo, this goes to My How to paint List. 🤘🏻🙌🏻
Excellent video!! one of my best. Thanks!
