Thank you for the tips! Another possible reason to have Outlook not connecting is having the wrong date/time configured. I just had that happen randomly, tried everything said and this video with no luck until I noticed I had the wrong time on my laptop. Changed it and it did the trick.
for me i often have this problem with users, it's very often related to connecting to microsoft exchange server. I ask them to task kill outlook in the task manager, open it in safemode (win+r and type : outlook /safe), see if it says connected. If not close and task kill it, open outlook again in normal mode. After that : find the outlook icon in the taskbar > ctrl + right click > connection status > reconnect. Wait 2 mins and outlook should login. OFC it'll not work if the profile is broken
Be careful!!! I tried deleting data files as suggested and now my pc is worse than it was before I started troubleshooting. Outlook DID NOT "start rebuilding the files automatically".

I have a User who can't even launch Outlook. It keeps asking to manually type in the Server settings info. This step is usually automatic when creating a new Outlook profile. I've tried creating new Outlook profile, Renamed OST, ran a repair, tries to run in Safe Mode...neither works.
