Having lived with macaws conures and a CAG over 34 years I still don’t feel comfortable adopting a cockatoo. It’s a big commitment and should be till death do you part. I’ve been able to give both my first bird CH conure 34 years and our mini macaw 27 years in the same home. Now I have 2 parrots my grey and our Blue and Yellow macaw variant (larger size and weight orange mango color on chest. she’s 1300 grams plus or minus her whole time with me which will be 33 years in a few days. So Rio and our CAG are my only parrots. Keeping an eye out for the right rescue fit in our aviary. I have 2 large but small enough for a large conure and another cage all clean and ready.
The amount of patience here you show with Mr Shelby is amazing! So heartwarming to see how he slowly warmed up to you. Happy to have found your channel (at this rate I’m going to own 5 birds 😂)

You cannot blame the bird for being scared shitless after 5 homes in 2 years.
