Just found this searching for retiring from the Army. I wish that I had found this earlier. I am retiring in a few years and would love more advice. Great videos and fantastic advice! Thank you for sharing!
Congrats and welcome to the club! I got mine last year. I still miss it everyday, but am thankful for the chance to serve. I'm still getting used to it.
Had the same experience with ID card at MacDill, pulled up didnt look bad walked up to the bldg and line wrapped around the back, it took me till noon to get my ID card. I learned that you can go to 8208 Hangar Loop to the reserve unit HQ and get one, thats where I recieved my contractor CAC, was in an out in less than 30 minutes. I wish I had know it before, they open at 7:30 also. Pass it on
Eric, thank you for this awesome video. This video hit home. In the next couple of years I will be retiring from the Navy. After 28 years (and counting), it is hard to imagine how I will feel, but I guess it will also be a bitter sweet moment for me. Thank you for putting this video together and share your experience with us. I will be following your channel.
Ft Hood was my first duty assignment. I was assigned to Ft Hood Texas from 92 -94 with the 555th Engineer Co. Topographic. III Corps Phantom Command. I worked as a light wheel vehicle mechanic, 63B. Our motorpool was right next to a corrections stockade. We used to see these guys playing basketball in their brown jail jumpsuits. 😮
Glad to see you applied for VA disability. Surprised you have Tricare Select, unless Retiree Prime isn't available. Retired 23 years ago. Still don't think of myself as a "Mister", never will. When I'm asked what I do, my answer is "I'm a retired military officer." Still have the rank, still getting paid. Hope you've looked into any educational benefits Florida provides children of veterans, especially disabled vets.
mdmarko- first of all, thanks for watching! Still waiting on my VA claim- been a while now! And DEFINITELY will use the Florida educational bennies for my girls!
I’m also on the same boat. I’ll be retired effective June 1, 2022. Can you show me the retiree I.d. ? What is the procedures in order to get retiree card? Thank you in advance! Hoah!!
Yes sir - been a while. I've gotten very busy with normal life, job, living the America dream now. Everyone tells me they'd like to see more vids. Thinking about it.
Hi Jessica! Thanks for watching! We thought the same, but they said no. My mom also is a retiree spouse, says she had to go in every few years when they first got out.

How do I contact you? My best friend is in the US Army in 24th year. I need your help.
wait until you have to go to the va hospital for appointment....
You’re being so dramatic. I retired and lived life as if I was never in…no veterans hats, no final posts, no farewell videos. Just a new life.
I bet he's digging in his pockets because he's trying to find a fuck to give for your comment.
Right? This dude is acting like a damn drama queen
when you are in you are a guest and when you're out your a pest.
Your wife’s card should be indefinite
