Welcome to Tomorrowaday Farms! Today we made fresh tortillas.. Once you make these you will never go back to store bought. These are easy but they will take a bit of time... but oh how worth it.
Here is my recipe for with baking powder and without... Mine without the baking powder were not as good but I thought I would leave that up to you.
Here is my recipe with Baking powder:
    4 Cups AP Flour
    2 Tsp Salt
    2 TBSP room temp Lard
    2 Tsp baking powder
    11/2- 2 Cups Boiling water
    If using your kitchen Aid
    With your whisk attachment add:
Flour, salt, baking powder give it a good spin to put air into your flour mixture
add in your lard mix again until a grainy texture
    change to your dough hook
add in your boiling water- you want this wet.. to allow you to kneed your dough
move to a floured surface and kneed till all comes together
put room temp lard in your hands and cover it with your dough. This allows your dough to stay moist.
Allow to sit for up to 10 minutes to relax
cut into your pieces if you are using a scale 60 grams is for a large tortillas
In a bowl have some flour and press your dough balls into the flour and
roll until they are as thick as you want it.
Have your cast iron skillet warming on low and place in your pan'
cook for about 1-2 minutes per side.
Place in a flour sack towel to keep warm
1 batch will give you a dozen
    Freeze up to 3 months
For the NO Baking powder method:
Everything is the same just leave out the baking powder.
If you guys make them let me know what you think!
Don't forget to share this video!
Thanks for hanging out with me today! Have a great day!
    Michael and Tracy

Hi Tracey, it’s evening and I just saw your notice of a new video. And tortillas are something I never make. But we like them and I’m happy you added how to make them and making a big batch for the freezer. We like them with sandwiches instead of bread. That dough is beautiful. Today I made brioche for breakfast tomorrow. It’s not easy to make raising time is too long. But I love a challenge. Thanks for your tortilla recipe.I’ll try to make some.takecare.👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🌷🌷🌷☃️☃️☃️☃️😎😎

How long will they keep in the freezer? I am gonna try this for sure, we can get them cheap here we have a huge Mexican population (migrant workers) but nothing taste better than home made anything. I have been making extra meals for the freezer, so if we are doing meat loaf I make 2 or 3 and put them in the freezer, 1 for dinner etc. Also I think I will make some smaller. Have you made corn tortilla's? I have made tamales so I am wondering if they are the same? Tamales were fun but take a long time.

yes we have made corn tortillas. We are hoping to do a video on them shortly.
And the tortillas will last for 3-4 months in the freezer but as always mark the date when put in the freezer. Thank you

That was very good, video. I think last year you tried canning on an electric single burner. Could you tell me what manufacturer and model?

No oil at all. I use whatever is on sale if I don't have any of my own done.
