I just started this game yesterday and got to the capital. I’m having fun so far. One thing I noticed about your gameplay you never used any of the weapon skills.
Yeah so I thought I had captured video around the time of the Hydra. By then I was using them more regularly. But when I went to put the video together, I didn't have any of that. The dungeon I did right at the start (the well) I only had the two you start with. Had not realized where I could get new abilities at that point. Also pretty sure the video I grabbed of that area was my 3rd or 4th attempt, because for whatever reason, one of the pawns kept running off pulling the entire room, so I was focused on just trying to not move around much and make sure the pawns didn't wonder off. Once I got to Gran Soren and switched to the Sorcerer I used skills / spells. Although I ended up finding that the fireball (can't remember the actual name), was basically the most effective with a nice knockback, so I just spammed that. I do wonder if the ranged archer type classes would have landed any better. But yeah appreciate the callout. Will consider that a bit more in the future and make sure I have more representative footage. Was so focused on trying to show the world and enemies, I wasn't really thinking about what my character was doing in the clips.
Also curious, is it mostly just the combat that you are enjoying? I wanted to like it so much more than I did. To the point that even now I am thinking "well maybe you missed something. Maybe if you tried again...."
The combat is at best ok compared to todays games, I wouldn’t say I’m enjoying the combat all that much but I do like the exploration finding hidden areas or secrets. The story so far isn’t to bad but I’m only about 9 hours into it and that’s with doing as many side missions as I can with my limited playing time. I would say if you’ve given it your best shot trying to like it don’t force yourself to, I appreciate the reply sorry iv been really busy working.
I mean its fair, dragons dogma asks a lot of the player, not just time, if it aint for you fair enough. Ive been playing since 2014 and never dropped it. I fully get it, this game is old and it flopped on release for a reason, i really hope dragons dogma 2 can be what you want it to be
Didn't even do end game and talking about didn't like it. To me seems like you barely touched the surface and stated a false opinion, try the more mid game and end game content
So I spent about 6 hours with the game (which I call out in the video). If we are saying it gets better at mid to end game, of a 40-50 hour game, then we are saying more like 20 hours for it to potentially get better? Unfortunately I just don't have that kind of time to spend on something I am not enjoying. When I do these videos I can only really give my experience, and what I thought, and then I usually try to call out things that I think people may take issue with, or enjoy. Mainly through the lens of, we all have a huge backlog of games, is this for me and is it worth spending my time on when I have so many things in my backlog (as I am guessing most of us do). And then I try to mention the pros and cons so people can evaluate for themselves, if they think it may be worth keeping in their backlog. I did say that if people can get past some of the issues I had, that the combat, at least for the larger enemies, is great. Same with the pawn system. I just couldn't deal with the rest for those moments and I am guessing a lot of others won't be able to either.
You can't ask someone to reach the endgame before forming an opinion, that's very ignorant, this game isn't perfect so please don't act so hostile because he doesn't like the game we like
Great recap of what i've been going through the past two days since i've decided to give it a go.

you have 5 hours of play in a game most people have over100 hours in
