    I personally don’t care if people think I over pack. As long as my husband is okay with it that’s all that matters.

      I used to always say as long as I don't have to pay extra fees for the weight I'm fine. I have always been an overpacker bc I want to have the right outfit but I did realize that I way overpacked last time. I was trying to be more mindful and selective this time. Haha.

      I hope you have a wonderful cruise. I don't beleive it will be a mistake to take dresses. I actually took the same itinerary and ship the year before and took dresses. However, I just decided this time that I would save space since it seemed 75% did not dress up at all. As I always say "You do you". Wear what makes you feel good. Have a wonderful trip adn thanks for watching!

    Hi Amanda. Thank you for the very informative video. Did you wear any base layers? Do you you think they are needed? We are going in June.

    • @AmandaPerkins815
      @AmandaPerkins815  8 месяцев назад +2

      First of all, I hope you have a wonderful trip. I have been to Alaska 4 times in June and the weather has been different each time. I have been able to have a tee as a base with a sweatshirt or fleece over it and actually shed the fleece because the weather got warmer in the afternoon. I have had to have a long sleeve base and fleece and rain jacket before and not been able to shed any layers. Honestly, I think in June a short sleeve base, a long sleeve warmer outer layer and a rain jacket to either wear off the ship or have packed with you at port is a good idea. I hope this helps you in deciding what to pack. The weather is just so unpredictable. Definitely need a rain jacket and some kind of water proof or water resistant shoe.

    Hi, was there much of a difference in the temperature and clothes you packed on your August trip vs late September? We are going the last week of July into the first few days of August.

    • @AmandaPerkins815
      @AmandaPerkins815  9 месяцев назад

      Oh I hope you have a wonderful time. July is actually the only month between May and September that I haven't visited Alaska. I do know that when we went in September I was actually surprised it wasn't colder. When we cruised in August it was around the 10th so close to the time you will be traveling. I do know that July seems to be very rainy. I would say that I did pack more layers in September as opposed to August. If there is glacier viewing on your itinerary definitely make sure you pack a beanie, gloves and sunglasses. Even if you are viewing it from the ship it still gets cold no matter what month. Also make sure to pack a raincoat and waterproof shoes. I would still say to layer but maybe a tee under a long sleeve instead of a long sleeve under another long sleeve, if that makes sense. Definitely layer because the temps change from morning to mid day and you might not need that top layer. July seems to be the best month for warmer weather there. I have actually been pleasantly surprised by the weather each time I have been. I would say you could pack less layers than I did for this September cruise. I hope this has been somewhat helpful and answered your question.

    Did you find that rain coat was enough without a puffer jacket?

    • @AmandaPerkins815
      @AmandaPerkins815  5 месяцев назад

      Depends on when you are going. I’ve been in June before where I only needed rain jacket. I’ve also been in September when I did need the puffer. If your itinerary included glacier viewing you will want something warm, even if you are just on your balcony. Hope that’s helpful and enjoy your trip!!!

    What about your dress clothes for Dining?

    • @AmandaPerkins815
      @AmandaPerkins815  9 месяцев назад +1

      I did this same itinerary on the same ship the year prior. I brought basically 2 sets of clothes per day so that I could change for dining. Hardly anyone changed. I'm not sure if it was the Alaskan itinerary that more people are less dressed up for dinner or that it was Norwegian. I would say that when I went in 2022 that 85% of the people were very casual during dinner. Therefore, for 2023 I decided to just pack one outfit per day and that worked out. People that year were also dressing more casual for dinner. Not sure if this is your first Alaska cruise but if so it seems to be a little less formal on this itinerary. Hope this was helpful.

    I am a fashion lover, what happened to your fashion gene... what about a trendy leather jacket and leather gloves withy cuban heeled boots for dinner? I'm going in September 24 to alaska cruise on royal Cab ...will take the fleeces.... but your choices were very pedestrian .. as I said I love fashion

    • @AmandaPerkins815
      @AmandaPerkins815  8 месяцев назад +10

      Normally I do not respond to negative comments and just ignore them but yours was very offensive to me. Obviously I am a fashion lover as I have a fashion youtube channel. My closet is filled with clothes ranging from casual to very dressy. I have over 200 pairs of shoes for every occasion imaginable. However, that being said to say my fashion is "pedestrian" is triggering for me so I had to respond back. I have been to Alaska many times. I also went to Alaska on the same itinerary the previous year. I brought 2 outfits for every day. One for at port and one for dining. No one dressed up for the dining room. It was obvious the same thing was worn at dinner as all day because people were in fleece, flannel and plaid. I dress up way more on a Caribbean itinerary but it's not needed on an Alaska one. You do you but my purpose for this video was to show what I had learned from my previous Alaska cruise on what people were and were not wearing and just about everyone on the ship was dressed "pedestrian" like me. I hope you enjoy your cruise in September because it is a beautiful place and lots of fun.
