    I purchased the version after this model without the blue background below the star. I like the textured feel of the pen and find it writes great. Very nice for asking quick notes or travel. Got a pen show deal on it at L.A. pen show which cemented the decision to purchase

    I had similar experince with yours. I bought one from eBay and actually at first the ink flow ddn't come out as easy, but after several months, it started to work well and you are right. It still needs some pressure else you will see some skipping while writing, but not too bad. It is a unique design in the Mont Blanc family.

      I have the urban speed star walker from new. It skipped, I sent it back via reseller and had the nib adjusted. It does not skip now and does not require pressure to get it to write properly

    My Starwalker (crystal dome, gold version, with ink cartridges) has now been with me for around 10 years. It was faulty from the beginning, and needed refurbishment, but it works perfectly now. Every time I use it - it brings me great joy. I noticed most smooth writing process when the cap is screwed on, goes like butter on paper.

    Gorgeous pen! I have this pen in a ballpoint version. I switched out the ballpoint refill for a Monteverde gel. It's my high end gel pen. I'd love to get a fountain pen version.

    I have the Starwalker Ultra Black Doué fountain pen, I really love it. The detail that won me over is the clip overlapping the cap to reach the body of the pen, that's really elegant. I also got the precious resin StarWalker ballpoint for someone & she loves it too

    People may disagree, but I like how the nib looks. I enjoy pens with interesting, non-standard nibs and the Starwalker is certainly a good example of that. I wouldn't go so far as to call it ugly, but I don't blame you for thinking that it is. It is indeed a very unusual pen.

    • @seattlepenclub
      @seattlepenclub  2 года назад +1

      I agree - the nib is certainly different than what they usually do. I wonder if it's the same nib as the Montblanc M. It looks similar but I've never written with the M before.

    • @MariaM-lj3hv
      @MariaM-lj3hv 2 года назад +1

      @@seattlepenclub The M and Starwalker's nibs are interchangeable. I switched out the stock Montblanc M nib for a spare Starwalker nib that writes so much better.

    Just out of curiosity, I went to the MB store -- and see that they're asking ~ $900 for the FP version -- not even a piston. My first "real" FP was a gift from my wife -- the Classique FP/BP set but after that I didn't add another MB til 2-3 years ago when I found a NIB 146 at a good price (mid 400s). I do like it -- more than I expected -- but it's not my favorite in my collection. I always have been and remain less than enthusiastic about MB. I think they went the way of other "prestige" brands (things across the board, not just pens) that spend a LOT on advertising to convince buyers how great something is rather than letting the product speak for itself. MB seems to spend a lot of time coming out with new models with no improvement to the pen itself.

    • @Rabixter
      @Rabixter Год назад

      I recently purchased a very good condition 1970's MB146 for around £200 and I'm happy with it given the "low" price. But I agree, it's not the best thing ever. I have nicer pens in my collection.

    I personally find this newer version of the starwalker line hideous in comparison to the older version, of which I own several.
    The newer version of the star walker is essentially a dumbed down version of the 'speed' line.
    I love montblanc pens, but I feel since the Montblanc M, they've been flopping a bit on their new products

    i am just not attracted to Meisterstuck line. I just prefer the starwalker series, specially those with metal (not interested in the resin ones). My favourite is the Starwalker extreme spirit of racing and i just bought the last unit of the ultimate carbon fountain pen. the ultimate carbon is good but just a bit too light. Managed to find a brand new extreme spirit of racing fountain pen and its on the way to me. Finally i have all three of the extreme spirit (ballpoint, fineliner, fountain).

    hmm I liked the blue background around the emblem so I was bout to get it.. in your writing I see that you are pressing a lot harder than I usually write - I write fast and light, and then I see a skip in "u" in "requires". Does this happen often, doesn't it bother you?

    • @seattlepenclub

      I think it's the camera's sensitive mic picking up feedback. I don't press down much with fountain pens. That said, the MB Starwalker size nibs require a little bit of pressure - unlike the Meisterstuck nibs...

    I purchased the older version of this pen a couple of years ago from "Proto Pens". Mine has the original B&W dome and a black knurled section that I personally think looks and feels better in the hand than this striated section. One of the things I consider when purchasing a pen is its "cool factor" and this pen, for me anyway, ticked that box! Oh yeah, like my other MB's, it's pretty darn good writer, too!

  • @arundhanuparan100

    My opinion regarding the star walker resin pen is that, the cap of the pen cracks at the bottom if it is accidentally hard tightened,,,,this happens because the thread part in the body is metal and the thread part in the cap is resin,,,,,,according to me the design is wrong,,,,montblanc should have inserted a threaded metal sleeve into the bottom of the cap,,,,,this problem is not there in the meisterstuck series because bottom of the cap is protected by the triple band from expanding hence it doesn't crack,,,,,i have got all the meisterstuck models, right from mozart to 149,,,,and I feel meisterstuck classic fountain pen is the best for an everyday carry.., i am a fountain pen user,,, montblanc baby is a females pen,,, they should have continued the boheme series.

    I have owned two of these pens with both breaking just after the warranty expired. These were twist ball point pens and both failed at the twist mechanism $1,000+ in pens wasted; totally overrated product and not worth the money.
