There are so many insightful quotes in this video. My favorite: "Sometimes, you're out here, and there's all this stuff, but there's just nothing you can do." -Peter Draws
I'm only a few minutes in but I think this could definitely be up there for me. I don't generally get any "tingles" from ASMR videos where people are just tapping on stuff and doing deliberate trigger sounds, which seems to be what a lot of ASMR channels are focusing on. But give me a video of someone conveying an idea or explaining something in a calming way, with some pleasing sounds happening naturally in the process, and I'm chillin'.
Watching this I can't really determine whether this man is on the brink of insanity or if he's just achieved a higher level of emotional intelligence than the rest of us
SWIM says once you pass the threshold insanity, emotional intelligence, creativity get mixt together in that cup you drink, then you have to figure out what the hell to do with it... Peter's a excellent example of how to do it "right"

@@josiieposie Synonymous with children, its meant for children. He can buy candy at the store because he CAN afford it. You don't understand, non of you understand the danger of depression and Meta modern conception into normal situations, it isolates everything and makes active events seem like punishment. He can get candy at the doctors/dentists/eye doctors office, but it is meant for children after their shot, or to keep them good and behaved. A 27 year old can get this candy, but his reasoning is not all quite sound, as this is a symbol for children. Aging color or who can play with legos is a little different, you can't really put an age or gender on who has a lego set or who wears a pink outfit. However, partially it is true that lego sets are meant for a younger audience. It's sometimes cute when a kid is shy and stubborn, but its bizzare when a 27 year old attributes the same factors and is usually disregarded as mentally unwell. This follows hand in hand the same way.
@@bimates2690 No, I just showed you how overthinking a concept works, the delirium of processing and processing a thought into it becomes a broken isolated feeling concept, floating in space, a void creating by you to create different emotions that help gage you on how you have interpreted it, thinking you've found the right correlation, when really it's as easy as 4+4=8. What's so funny? Cat.
Youre not going to see this but this video helped me grieve the death of a friend. Journaling my thoughts with small drawings everyday helped me process it, thank you for the idea.

3:46 "You're doing great... You'll be feeling better in no time..." This touches my heart so deeply. I really hope you feel better Peter. I know it's hard. I love you. You'll be feeling better in no time.
I see a consistent theme in your post-it drawings. They show a deeply recessed, possibly unknown desire to slip off to West Palm or Key Large for a couple days to certify as a acuba diver, then head up toward West Palm Beach to go on a couple drift dives c in the Gulf Stream. I'd say go for it dude. You only once. Who knows, it may give you inspiration for different type of drawings.
It's really fascinating how fluid his movements are, even when he's just drawing random squiggles it's so precise somehow. I could watch this for hours
When I first watched this I couldn't tell if he was an overly cynical philosopher or just high af. After coming back a few times I now realize that this is just a wholesome video of a man having a good time expressing his love of art.
@Royal Exodus what if you fuse logical reasoning to your art? People describing a story, people who have a meaning behind their creativity which puts up front the way they see the world? Doesn’t make any sense to say both are opposites. And who says actual “logic” exists, because from my understanding of the world, people are unable to be rational, they can only be rationally irrational or efficiently irrational in a way that isn’t damaging. We’re not computers, our feelings really paint every information we take in in a different light. Our emotions always fuse with everything we take in, facts can be interpreted very differently based on your personal feelings on the facts. For example Ex: There’s a higher chance that the second twin is transgender if the first twin is But the chance is only 27%, which *is* higher than normal siblings which aren’t twins The left wing lgbt supporters would interpret that as, yes it is indeed shown that there is a biological connection to transgenderism But the transphobes would interpret that, the percent isn’t high enough because if two twins are identical they should have the exact SAME chance to be trans In the end, feelings are great and don’t take away any value of what you think or feel. Logic is a part of feelings. And they change, develop, just as logic does at the same time. We live with both a brain and a heart which makes us very beautiful beings
When I first watched this I didn't realize he was actually going through a really tough spot and probably on the verge of a breakdown and used this video as a way to stave off that breakdown and maybe even help other people. It really hits different coming back.
I know it’s been a while since you uploaded this video. But this literally changed my life. I’ve always been sort of out of touch with myself. When I first saw this, I started drawing on sticky notes, and I did so every day at work. I followed your guide to put feelings on paper. It helped me learn how to feel and how to express that to not only myself but to others. It helped me learn how to navigate my emotions through art, not just pen and paper but all sorts of art. I still struggle a lot with everything still, and sometimes I’m not ok. But it’s ok not to be ok sometimes. At least I have a really cool sticky note collection now! Cheers you are a wonderful person
Hope you are doing well Sam, it's weird how the world works sometimes but I've been in a rough patch emotionally and then this came into my feed and it all made sense. I'm glad this video found me as well as I found all of you. 😊
I liked that he explained it. It fit with what he was saying, like a metaphor for emotions. People express emotions in many different ways, just as pens are made to write differently. And sometimes, as with the Sharpie he's using, emotions will bleed into the next day or the next emotion.
this really is like a mini therapy, i remember watching this year ago and this is honestly my style of drawing, i just doodle. I never take my "art" as art. Its just doodles at the end of my day

@@autisminabox2.011 I doubt I'm the first person to think of that, but I didn't see anyone else say it. Why are you bringing so much negativity to a video like this?
Jeriah Bernard id like to believe that they are truly happy and use a sad face for attention, but it could be interpreted different ways, that's the beauty of it, not here to argue or start a debate, just here to drop ideas :)
How crazy is it that so many people have felt individually touched all in unique ways from this little video about drawing your feelings? I feel like I relate to it so strongly. I have autism and have, since watching this video years ago, drawn my feelings when I'm having meltdowns. They're usually completely nonsensical to anyone else but to me they show absolutely every emotion I'm feeling in those times. It's ridiculously therapeutic to take part in this kind of thing, even if you're like me and can't draw to save your life. I have found nothing that can accurately depict my feelings as much as these drawings can. No words in the human language can describe some feelings because language just feels too linear for something that is so astoundingly complex. I am very thankful I stumbled across this video years back. I found it during a rough patch in my life and every time things feel hopeless, I come back to this. There's something about the way Peter talks that just makes you feel understood - he's not too happy, too sad, too optimistic or pessimistic, he's just human and it's wonderful.
"I do wanna be an old person one day".... You must be the first person to say that that I've heard. And for some reason hearing that made me feel kind of good? Like, hopeful in a way. I've always been a bit scared of being old, and I've avoided thinking about it... but somehow hearing you say that opened a door to a different way of thinking about it. To me that was a random unexpectedly inspirational sentence. You tend to drop those a lot.
Dimana D. Getting old isn't always good, but, sometimes you feel that you are old inside, what I mean, you avoid parties, avoid anything too loud and, what appears to be exciting for young human being, you enjoy calmness, enjoy sitting on a bench, observing life around you, thinking about something, picturing your thoughts that you don't even notice anything happening around you, you see an old photographs of people living in the past, and you feel that this was a more suitable time for you, everything is too fast nowadays, and it often feels tiring, people around want to get a job, get a big salary, get famous, they're chasing something every moment of their lifes, yet, forget how to live, sometimes it feels, like you're an old tree, everything is flickering around you, but it's not for you, you enjoy observing, that's why sometimes you feel like you're an oldman inside a young body, don't really know if it's normal or not, many people around think it isn't, I don't know, I think it isn't bad, and, when you're old, nobody really teach you how to live, what to do, that's why it's good)
Every time I trip I come back to this video, I can't thank you enough for what you do Peter. You've guided me through and out of dark places and it's deepened my appreciation for life.

Droid Gamma Epsilon 5 | Not necessarily. It's possible their civilization is so advanced that they won't feel the need to take our resources. Think of how we can choose to watch rabbits eating grass or how we can choose to watch ants work together to drag food back to their colony. We could easily destroy the rabbit or the ants for their resources, but we can instead admire the beauty of their existence instead given how comfortable our own lives are in comparison. I dunno.
I understand how someone could think that this guy is just talking nonsense, but in my opinion, there are a lot of life lessons and feelings you can associate with and learn about from this video.
He is an unbelievable artist, some he draws upside down or backwards…you are expecting one thing and another occurs or so you think. He is priming mood with words that distract from what he’s presenting.
This is an amazing proof of a studied principle: it's impossible to draw a face without it having an expression/conveying an emotion. And, also in the case of lines, they are not neutral: they express mood even unintentionally. A great lesson for artists, given with a sense of humor.
I hope you don’t take this in a weird way but when I forget to take my insomnia meds I watch + listen to your videos to fall asleep - you’ve got a peaceful healing energy and voice. Also you have an impressive vocabulary and I’m jealous.
hey, im not the op, but dont worry its not a weird thing :) idk you're already familiar with asmr videos but there are many soothing videos like this one. ediyasmr and moonlight cottage have very tender voices just like Peter during this video, in case if you're searching for more content to help you with good sleeping nights!
have any of you ever been so calm it made you wanna cry? like you're just so calm and content and you look around and really realize how calm you feel and it makes you so thankful you just wanna cry? i get that often. not a whole lot, because im rarely truly calm, but often enough to recognize it as something that i've experienced multiple times in my life. it's an intriguing feeling. maybe one i can explore further with my counselor.
For the last several weeks/months I've been feeling like I want to cry, but because of stress. I literally wondered just this morning if people are still actually calm anymore - guess they are! That makes me really happy, actually. Hope you have a wonderful calm day/night! 😄
@@sugoish9461 aw well thank you ❤ glad I could pass on some calming inspiration! If you want, I could offer some advice on staying calm in the face of stress? Just because I know how stressful life can get but I also know so many ways to destress and make yourself feel a lot better!
@@sugoish9461 okay, totally been there with school and I'm guessing family stress? When I was 15, my parents divorced. I also was taking a lot of hard classes at school, and the stress really got to me. So there are some short term and long term things that really help with stress management. Short term: take breaks. From homework, from your family if they're a stressor. Take time away from things that make you stressed. Let's say you have a lot of homework ahead of you. Do an hours worth of work, then take a short break. 10 minutes max. But in that time, do things you enjoy. Art, watching RUclips, maybe watch a little of your favorite show. Then after your break, work for another hour. This way you aren't overloading yourself with work all the time. Another big one is meditation. I know a lot of people have a lot of misconceptions about meditation, but really all it is is giving your mind a break for a few minutes a day, to be able to sit and be in the moment, to not worry about the future or past. There are a lot of apps available to help you meditate, my favorite is called "Calm". They have a 7 day meditation series that is great for beginners at explaining why its important and helping you to clear your mind. :) Also, make sure you're getting enough sleep. It sounds cliche but sleep is literally so important for us to function as normal human beings. Get at *least* 6 hours a night, but its best to get 8 if you can. You'll feel so much better mentally if you get enough sleep. And lastly for the short term helpers, talk to someone. Whether its a friend or trusted family member or even a school counselor, make sure its someone you can trust and feel comfortable just letting everything out with. Keeping everything bottled up isn't gonna help you, you'll feel a lot better after you vent to someone for a bit. For the long term strategies, I really only have one. Realize that you can't change the past, and the future hasn't happened yet. If you can't control it, there's no reason to stress over it. Because its unchangeable. So worry about the things you can change, and do everything in your power to make it a positive change. Surround yourself with love and positivity and you'll feel so much better in the long run! There's my nuggets of wisdom, I'm actually studying to be a psychologist so if you have any other questions related to mental health please send them my way!! I love educating others on mental health and how to live healthier and happier :)
Taylor Britt Wow that is a lot of great advice! Thank you so so much - it really is great things you're bringing up, and I'll consider all of them! Some of those things I've logically known about I guess and tried to convince myself to believe, but actually believing and following those things are more difficult to do rather than just say. Working on it though! And yeah, you're right. There's just been a lot of things I've been stressing about. A lot of people I care about have been doing pretty bad mentally and fight and argue with each other (friends, family and other relatives). I can't really get away from things like my family when they're stressful, really, because of the way things are, but I'm thinking I can at least improve my way of handling it all. There'll always be things you _can_ stress about honestly, you just have to learn to take it a bit easy, I guess? Actually, I think I'm going to listen to one of your advice right now and try to go to sleep now, as it's really late for me. I'll look over your advice tomorrow when I'm not as tired 😄 Is it perhaps alright if I message you later? Maybe ask a few questions about what it's like studying psychologyy and such? Perhaps some about mental health, also? You seem like a really great person and I'd be really glad if you have the time! My grandma studied psychology and I was really interested in learning more about it - I still haven't chosen what to actually study yet, but that field really seems interesting! :D
exactly. you just need a break, and to manage your stress more effectively. and it is hard, definitely. It takes practice. It's breaking an old habit, the habit of stressing, and replacing it with a new habit, staying calm. and breaking habits takes time and patience and lots of practice. But it's so worth it. honestly, if your family will allow it, stay at a friends house one night maybe when your family is getting to you. I know before I came to college, my mom really got to me because she was having empty nest syndrome, and so my best friend's house was kind of my escape, and I went to her place a lot. just getting away from all that chaos for a night or maybe 2 can be so helpful. And I really feel you on having friends that have mental health issues. That is what kind of lead me into psychology, along with personal problems but mostly my friends being depressed or dealing with other issues was a big thing for me. My best advice here is to 1) encourage your friends to go see a counselor, or let a counselor know that you're concerned about your friend and see if they could call them in. Often times we want to help our friends, but in doing so we get really stressed. Realize that you cannot help everyone, even though you may really want to. Gently remind everyone that while you want to help them, you're only one person, and a young person at that, and you don't really know how best to help them, and their best course of action is to go get outer help. And I know a lot of people have had bad experiences with therapy, and that kind of turns them off of the idea, but here's the thing: even the therapist who gets a C on their exams still can become a therapist. A sucky therapist is still a therapist. But there *are* good therapists out there who know what they're doing and know how to deal with clients really well. you just have to find someone you're comfortable with and who you feel really listens to you. cause even if they're a good therapist/counselor if you aren't comfortable with them you won't benefit from therapy/counseling. As for messaging me, you sure can! If you wanna just email me, or contact me through Google Hangouts my email is taylorrosebritt@gmail.com (my icon is purple, in case you go through Hangouts). And if you would rather talk some other way just let me know! Like I said I always love talking to and educating people on psychology stuff :) and thank you for the compliment! I'm just here to spread a little positivity and some good information, cause there's a lot of misinformation going around online.
this honestly made me tear up and think about what happened to me. It seems so random what he does, but its so right. its not my fault, but there was nothing i could do about it

I recently started doing this in a mini sketchbook. This month has probably been the hardest month in my life, and has left me with a therapist who tells me I have a chronic mental disorder thanks to trauma. I've always thought the best therapist is a pen on paper; it just listens, to all my ramblings, to my worries, to my tears. Drawing feelings is a very intimate and special thing, and I'm glad you shared it with me.
Lydlazer Shaw I'm recovering from sad times. I didn't really have any trauman just got very sad. I have had anxiety all my life though. I agree. I encourage you to draw, scribble, write, aimlessly run a pen around. I hope you feel better fren or at least that your pain is relieved soon

Never seen anything like this. And I spend a lot of time on youtube on all sorts of videos.. This was soothing, inspiring, sincere, original and emotional all at the same time. I couldn't take my attention away from it. Thank you for this creation if it matters hearing it from a complete stranger on the internet.
He's using his sticky notes as en expressive medium, and I relate to his drawings on interpersonal and intersubjective levels that could not be explained, this form of catharsis is magnificent. I think people with unexpressed/stifled emotions in a neurotic state will be the ones to relate and find a sense of affability in this heartfelt video.
He certainly has fundamentals and knows how to draw something a bit more formal but you're missing the point... Putting down your ideas to paper quickly is an unique kind of pleasure and it doesn't need to look perfect, art as therapy or even as art by itself is ok to have those imperfections.
Peter, you look hurt. You have inspired me so much and my artwork has skyrocketed in value because of you. One of my drawings is even getting into the newspaper this week! I love your drawings you drawing has really helped me get my feelings out.

I think the sadness part of the spectrum is more interesting because it involves conflict. Happiness is more or less our natural state, while people are sad because something has happened, and happenings are where stories grow.
I don't think happiness is the default. Sometimes it's a real struggle to get there. You're right about conflict though -- we want to see it resolve. What's interesting is why the sadness happened, and if it can go away. Happiness makes the sadness compelling because that's all where we want to be.
Humans have a hedonic state of mind Something good happens, we're happy for a while, something bad happens, we're sad for a while. In the end we go to a natural state of, well I don't know what to call it, a sort of blank state where you're neither happy, sad or bored.
16:47 dude you just randomly drew a perfect illusion. if I look at the face in different ways I see both a happy and a sad person. genuinely wigging out here.

I see a consistent theme in your post-it drawings. Marie S i was thinking the same
It’s like he knows what he’s going but he doesn’t
Marie S i
When I first watched this I couldn't tell if he was an overly cynical philosopher or just high af. After coming back a few times I now realize that this is just a wholesome video of a man having a good time expressing his love of art.
He’s says a lot of real shi ab life in dis vid not gonna lie
So basically you came here a logical person and then became an artist.
@@perezfecto Who says you can't be both, tho?
@Royal Exodus what if you fuse logical reasoning to your art? People describing a story, people who have a meaning behind their creativity which puts up front the way they see the world? Doesn’t make any sense to say both are opposites. And who says actual “logic” exists, because from my understanding of the world, people are unable to be rational, they can only be rationally irrational or efficiently irrational in a way that isn’t damaging. We’re not computers, our feelings really paint every information we take in in a different light. Our emotions always fuse with everything we take in, facts can be interpreted very differently based on your personal feelings on the facts. For example
Ex:
There’s a higher chance that the second twin is transgender if the first twin is
But the chance is only 27%, which *is* higher than normal siblings which aren’t twins
The left wing lgbt supporters would interpret that as, yes it is indeed shown that there is a biological connection to transgenderism
But the transphobes would interpret that, the percent isn’t high enough because if two twins are identical they should have the exact SAME chance to be trans
In the end, feelings are great and don’t take away any value of what you think or feel.

I felt this so hard lmao

Also, make sure you're getting enough sleep.
I'll look over your advice tomorrow when I'm not as tired 😄
Is it perhaps alright if I message you later?
I'm just here to spread a little positivity and some good information, cause there's a lot of misinformation going around online.
this is so calming, I think I'm gonna fall asleep to this (on purpose)
This is possibly the best unintentional asmr I've ever heard 😂

this honestly made me tear up and think about what happened to me. It seems so random what he does, but its so right. its not my fault, but there was nothing i could do about it
Don't encourage the boy, that's just what he wants.
I made an appointment with the Army recruiter and I'm taking the boy down there next week. I'm afraid it's the only way.

I’ve come back to this video a few times during stressful or anxious situations, it’s mad how much it actually brings me back to earth, I’ll keep this one in the favourites :)
Never seen anything like this. And I spend a lot of time on youtube on all sorts of videos.. This was soothing, inspiring, sincere, original and emotional all at the same time. I couldn't take my attention away from it. Thank you for this creation if it matters hearing it from a complete stranger on the internet.
It confuses me
I feel something's off
Yes.. You said it perfectly.
yes, it's so entertaining and encouraging yet also so relaxing and meaningful. it's one of my favorite videos and it makes me very happy

He’s secretly struggling not to draw perfectly .. u can tell this dude knows how to draw wonderfully
Jae Oliver totally it’s kind of crazy
He certainly has fundamentals and knows how to draw something a bit more formal but you're missing the point... Putting down your ideas to paper quickly is an unique kind of pleasure and it doesn't need to look perfect, art as therapy or even as art by itself is ok to have those imperfections.
Jae Oliver if you watch any of his other videos he's an amazing artist
i love this guy because
he is not scared to express himself in front of the camera this guy is who i look up to thank u for the vid and bye

Kaleestraza Deep
I don't think happiness is the default. Sometimes it's a real struggle to get there. You're right about conflict though -- we want to see it resolve. What's interesting is why the sadness happened, and if it can go away.
Happiness makes the sadness compelling because that's all where we want to be.
I always felt that the innate human emotion was boredom. You don't ever sit still with nothing happening and feel happy. Or maybe I'm just depressed.
Humans have a hedonic state of mind Something good happens, we're happy for a while, something bad happens, we're sad for a while. In the end we go to a natural state of, well I don't know what to call it, a sort of blank state where you're neither happy, sad or bored.
this man is 31 years old now and almost certainly looks back on this video with pride
16:47 dude you just randomly drew a perfect illusion. if I look at the face in different ways I see both a happy and a sad person. genuinely wigging out here.

I don't study psychology but that indicates he tries to act happy but he is truly sad inside.
“Sometimes you feel, happy.”

Its deep psychology/art, hes open and not afraid to share his thoughts. Some sentence might not have a lot of sense out of context. Its how his thinking/spirit works. You guys should take it more seriously
