- Some drivers took to going in the wrong direction on the 401 during a prolonged closure west of Napanee due to a transport collision. Eyewitness video by Joanne Rutley.

I went by around 9am and also saw cars driving the wrong way to get back to belleville.
I'm sorry, but its inexcusable. All of this technology and motorists are still unable to plan ahead and check highway conditions? C'mon
I left Whitby around 1130 am to head back to kingston so I checked your Facebook page to confirm if the highway was still shutdown and took an alternative route.
You can't assume everyone has that technology. I don't so I would have to check my laptop before I leave home. Then the info is not up to date.
Hot day and could run out of fuel waiting. Probably caused more accidents by frustrated drivers

Funny how nobody thinks about using any of the backroads as alternatives and instead thinks. Yeah this is a good idea that wont end up with being dead. Next time take bath road to amherstview and keep going out till you hit the ferry to picton. Or princess to Odessa to napanee
It was shut down eastbound...you would have them going westbound? and further more there were accidents on the back road detours impatient drivers
and 401 was closed at Shannonville...EASTBOUND
All because they won’t reopen the highway. Shouldn’t take hours to clear scrap in
