Absolution never was a 'bad' game. On the opposite, it was met with outstanding ratings from critics and won awards. It was just different from regular hitman games. Moving away from sandbox style, It followed a fancy movie like formula where a professional ruthless killer protects a girl to keep a promise. It might sound silly to many but it's actually pretty good in some ways. Story is decent graphics are immersive and detailed shooting is satisfying and you can kill your targets in 100 different ways. Levels are a bit linear but still big enough to explore and experiment. You'll absolutely enjoy it if you play it today because they don't make games like these anymore. It'll be refreshing to see good old angry man protecting women from goons in a badass manner. I remember being really really hyped to play after watching all the trailers over the years back then and I was not disappointed. And this is coming from a long time player from the days of C47. _"Sometimes you just need to enjoy games for fun. Leave every other opinions and rating reviews and just take at what the game has to offer."_
I think the only real problem with Absolution is that it was different from all the other Hitman games that are basically all the same and the only thing changing are the scenarios and your targets. Fans of most videogames series want always the same formula or they won't recognize the game anymore and wouldn't like it. Because unlike all the other Hitman games, this one actually had a story that wasn't mostly irrelevant to the game but that actually played a huge part in it, and because it showed 47 in a more human way, and followed a different formula with levels with actual different objectives rather than just kill a target, it was met with a negative response by die hard Hitman fans. If this was the first game of the series I can guarantee people would have loved it.
I started playing this series with Absolution, then to Blood Money and World of Assassination trilogy. While I think both Blood Money and the WoA trilogy are among the best stealth games ever, Absolution is still a good game. It's much more story-driven so it's a lot more linear but still a good entry
Yeah I wouldn't mind another film-esque game with more a modern style. IOI are working on a 007 game currently so I'm hoping this might be something like that

I put off buying or playing absolution since launch seeing how everyone said it wasn’t good. I finally decided why not and picked up a complete $5 copy off eBay and I loved it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not perfect but I really enjoyed it. Some of the locations are beautiful and fun to explore. Definitely a change of pace compared to its prequels which I loved as a kid. I wish I would have picked up absolution sooner honestly
First off, the editing in this video is GOD TIER And secondly, its so nice to see content of older hitman games that's this in depth while also keeping a positive and lighthearted view on its good points. While absolution is the franchise's punching bag, and i prefer the old quadrilogy, i feel like defending it by saying its wacky scenarios didnt come out of nowhere. Its antagonists feel like they're trying to recreate old ones. Specifically Ort-meyer's eccentricity and crazy experiments in the first game and zavorotko's aggressiveness and tendency to go all in with guns. That one crazy scientist in the factory level and the last few levels where groups of enemies are after you particularily feel like Asylum Aftermath and Redemption at Gontranno wanna bes. Father Vittorio in H2SA can barely not be considered a mcguffin because he had some personality in the beginning scenes, and he's not mentioned in the next games so the whole thing with Victoria (Im only now noticing the similarity in their names 🙃) isnt that new. Blood money and Contracts each had 2 instaces of grungy strip clubs/parties not to mention the emphasis on women in the sex industry (mei, the concubines in beldinford manor, the women in the biker gang levels). These things worked well in the past but the way Absolution frames them makes them stand out too mucg. I think absolution's biggest misdirection is wanting all of its scenes to be taken seriously and making them VERY on the nose with the cinematography as if we could somehow miss them... XD Your video was awesome, and it'd be cool to hear you talk more on games/media you felt was lacking :D
Thanks very much! Obvs a very new channel so really glad people are vibing with what I'm trying out Actually never played any of the games before Blood Money so that's really interesting, maybe that's something I should come back to 👀 Got a biiig video coming out soon, then some slightly different ideas I want to try, but def more "video game autopsy" stuff coming in future!

I actually think that the perfect shooting mechanic where you tag the targets should've been used in the trilogy. Because technically, 47 is supposed to have powers that separate him from normal people
"An America that doesn't actually exist." Actually the Chicago parts were fairly accurate, it's the South Dakota sections that made little sense as there's no deserts in that state.
Brilliant and articulate video well done! I just recently got back into playing this game and my mind is blown on how good this game actually is . Once one understands that the player has submurse yourself into the level over and over again ,the game becomes much more clearer. Not to mention the graphics and art style was ahead of its time. In my opinion the artistic opproch to this game is superior to the latest trilogy.
You explained it beautifully why i absolutely love this game as well. It takes it self so seriously and ends up looking stupid asf that it feels almost intentionall. And the more you play a Level , the more you realise how good this game actually is on multiple sessions. It was very refreshing to play something like Absolution after years of the same formula just improved a bit one by one
I had so much fun with this game. I can't believe its been 10 years since it came out. I dont care if a story is bad, if the graphics suck, or if nothing makes sense and long as the game is fun. Gameplay over everything else.
This was my first hitman and I enjoyed it immensely. I feel this game like many other's fall on the "know your playerbase" bias where it's not a bad game, just not what majority of your players are used to. Which sucks because many installments within a series that are looked downed are then later praised for being a good edition. I would love for another absolution-esc hitman to be made again as the story was very good imo and a nice change of pace from the usual hitman formula.
Silent Assassin and Absolution are my favorite Hitman games, just because they revolve around 47 helping someone and show him as his most human. (And I love human 47, like I feel like a theme of the story of the games was Ort-Meyer did everything he could, in terms of both nature and nurture, to make the most inhuman killing machine he could, but 47's humanity still shines through.) There's no denying that WOA has great gameplay, but I HATE the story just because it's a huge retcon and spit in the face of everything that came before. Just for example, if 47 escaped as a kid it would be mentioned in Ort-Meyer's diary, and the whole "THE NEW VILLAIN WAS BEHIND EVERYTHING ALL ALONG, WHOOOOOOOA~~~~" is straight out of a shitty anime. The story of every Hitman game before was about going into the future, about adding new stuff. The most you'd see from the past was Agent 6 from Silent Assassin, and even then, after he was killed it was definitely "okay 47 doesn't have any more surviving brothers, 6 was the last one, he definitely killed them all" or the new clones from Blood Money but that was the entire point, they were cribbing from Ort-Meyer and making NEW, emphasis on NEW, inferior clones and that's why they wanted 47, so they could make better clones. They were building on the past to make new future elements. But WOA is the only game that goes back and revisits the past (not literally in gameplay, though there is the whole "prologue" thing, but in terms of the story/lore) and CHANGES it. I hope if there are any new Hitman games, WOA's retcons get retconned back out.
Such great editing, i watched the whole video before i realized that the video is just 4K views and I thought it was a 1M video, i think is kind of unfair for the level of quality, but surely you're going to succeed with the cannel, keep it up man!
I always really loved the “running from everybody” typa thing in the beginning of the game. It felt so cool having 0 weapons with a dirty suit running through the tunnels of chicago killing dexters associates while also running from the cops. The last part of the game was cool too, but it felt rushed & i wish there were a few more missions. You went straight from killing dexter to travis in 2 missions. They could’ve extended in a bit more. But my FAVOURITE level OAT is the dexter industries mission, it was BY FAR the most open level of the game and the desert it takes place in looks amazing.
I loved this game also I was absolutely obsessed with the other Hitman games I had played and was so happy to receive it for Christmas or my birthday I don’t remember which, but the game holds a special place in my heart

Really fun levels to replay. I used to play the penthouse level with a buddy and we'd RP as a goofy plumber caught up in an armed heist. The level with the greasers you can use C4 to effectively kill everyone across the level at the same time. I never got people calling it a bad Hitman game. I had plenty of fun. (If you mashed the keys for garot and pistol you could walk around doing a jack off motion)

Wow. Just... _wow._ And I thought _my_ videos were tough to edit. Good work, man! Just be careful. Editing this technically involved will burn you out quick...
This is also the very first Hitman game I've ever played and let me tell you when I say I just shot everyone that I saw I did I did not play that game like how it was meant to be played at all😂 I just recently bought the game a few days ago and now it's even a funner experience because of me having big brain now 🥰 (Update) completed the game a few months ago and it was a great experience I was sad the contracts mode was shut down so I deleted the game. overall thank you for highlighting my comment and sharing this game with you viewers 🙏
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who enjoyed this game. I'd played the original 4 games and although this game wasn't what I wanted when it released, I enjoyed it. The story was good, and it wasn't hard to imagine agent 47 showing compassion like he did in silent assassin with Vittorio. I wouldn't like the job to make sequels of the hitman franchise, so it's understandable how it took them a bit of experimenting before getting it polished with the newer titles.
I like how people complain about the fight with big mexican guy because hitman shows his face on tv when there is a mission in Contracts where you can escape from level on a helicopter in front of a SWAT team and another news chopper flying around.
Playing it now, it's just hilariously edgy. Like they gave the npc's script to grade 9 cod players. I've heard "don't be a pussy", "fag", "what are you queer?" Hilarious time capsule. Even though it can feel comical there is some real grittiness to it too, which is noticeably absent in the latest trilogy. I'd like to see a game that recreates Contracts' strange and sinister feel, suck all the humor and wackiness out it and put it on the scale of the modern trilogy.
The ending is awesome, great video by the way👍 I bought the game on GOG last week, and I'm loving it! I'm also looking forward to play the new trilogy, but first I have to complete every level on absolution!
Absolution is definitely the "weird middle child" of the franchise, but a lot of the stuff that is now perfected in the modern trilogy (like the better gunplay and the instinct vision) was first introduced here. Getting out of a tight spot by shooting is much better here than it was in the original quadrilogy, where the gunplay was quite rough and janky.
at the expense of the club (and the "breasts"), this is a nitpick, in "the blood money" game, there the club with heaven and hell and nobody is doesn’t hate him, in the contracts game (this how should be a hitman in my opinion dark tone) there are several dark levels with this(meat club is amazing), which is very missing in hitman now.
It's so bad it's good. I treated it like a third person shooter and had a great time because the actual shooting is satisfying and the story is filled with assholes you can't wait to kill. It was like inserting myself into a really shitty, generic action movie and murdering everyone I could see. Decent fun for a single playthrough on normal, a solid Knife in the head/10
I had a pretty similar experience going from playing happy go lucky Nintendo games to then playing MGS4 when I got a ps3. Even though I had no idea what was going on outside of stuff I've seen on RUclips at the time, the game completely blew me away in terms of graphics and the cinematic experience.
I've said it before and I'll say it again I wish they'd make another Hitman game with similar gameplay to Hitman 3 with Absolution's level of Storytelling.
Clearly a lot of work went into this video! I can’t think of many other video game channels that have this much hand made frame by frame animation! Great work. And I agree, this game is trashy but fun and cool!!!
This game I feel keeps the continuity of the series and a lot of the fun, but it paints agent 47 in a more vulnerable way even in the tying novel he’s addicted to painkillers. Seeing this normally portrayed, giant 6, 2” assassin running for his life, trying to protect others in a honestly underrated story is just really good, And yeah, maybe some of the game plays a little Janky at times, but that could really go for almost any game and it just is unfortunate that absolution differed a little bit from its predecessors and a lot of people just overlooked it and when they did actually look at it, they didn’t like it
This game was amazingly bad but somehow I have it in my heart. I laughed a lot. Everything you said it's correct about the game. Even tho the new games are better than absolution, absolution is better than the new games. If you understand what I mean.
I actually love it. It's the game that drawn me to HITMAN trilogy, although the trilogy is 100 times better. It doesn't make Hitman Absolute a terrible game, except 1. Checkpoint resets the level 2. All npc with same uniform sees through your disguise 3. You change back to your signature suit everytime you enter a new stage
Absolution was my first hitman game as well and I still find myself wanting to go back to its atmosphere a lot. It's grimy and edgy and honestly almost campy. It's something that's very early 2010s (the overly sexualised female characters remind me a lot of the insane practice of 'booth babes' that was common on gaming conventions back then)
Very cool video. I've only played a bit of the World of Assassination trilogy, since I got overwhelmed by any other map besides the training chess player one, but this video makes me want to give it another try. Hell, maybe Absolution would be more up my alley if it's so linear on a first playthrough
Thanks very much! Yeah WoA can be a bit daunting but it's very rewarding once it "clicks". My advice would be to follow the Mission Stories on your first few playthroughs of a level and to save regularly so you don't have to restart the whole thing when some guy decides to randomly turn around!
I finished this game for the third time today, and I wanted to find an essay on this game, and this is perfect. This game is nostalgic to me too and I love your point of view on it too. This game is horrendous story wise and game wise but it’s got a silly special place in my heart. Loved this video. Subscribed.
How is it horrendous story wise and game wise (whatever that means)? I feel like the hardcore Hitman fans hated this game because it was different, so everyone who liked it tries to justify why by saying stuff like "it's a bad game, but its fun". I have always loved this game. I dont see how its "silly", I dont see how it has a horrendous story, the gameplay wasnt bad, the level designs weren't bad, etc. In my opinion, the game is just genuinely good. It's not good in a silly way, it's just a good game.
I bought this game for $3 the other week and it’s the first hit man game I’ve played in a long time and it’s actually pretty fun , although I’m at the point where km just skipping the cutscenes cause I have no idea wtf is going on

This channel's got incredible editing and is going somewhere to a big channel. Keep it up.
Great video man. You deserve a lot more subs. You earned mine.
You’re just one obscure but important and time necessary video away from this whole channel going so far
Its not terrible, Absolution is just different from other Hitman games, that's all.
I will give you every view in this world
Thank you Mentor Mothcub! I will take them all 😁
"This was my introduction to a Hitman game" ....You poor poor abused man, how could anyone treat someone like this.
Hang in there. You’ll make it.
You deserve many more views.
Bro the editing 👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Tf only 1k subs? Subbed.
It's fun to play, beautiful to look at and features the soothing voice of the late Powers Boothe from Tombstone
I like how people complain about the fight with big mexican guy because hitman shows his face on tv when there is a mission in Contracts where you can escape from level on a helicopter in front of a SWAT team and another news chopper flying around.
Love the editing and narration :)
Great editing, and use of humor! You earned a new sub
i loved this game and i’ve played it over 1000 times never fails to entertain me !
I love the fast cymbal heavy problematic in the background. It took me 20 seconds to catch :D
What I took away from this: it's really fun to throw a knife in someone's head.
It's the main lesson I want the games industry to learn!
The game is also the last Hitman game under a major game studio. After that the original devs bought back the rights.
I can’t wait for this channel to go viral
Playing it now, it's just hilariously edgy. Like they gave the npc's script to grade 9 cod players. I've heard "don't be a pussy", "fag", "what are you queer?" Hilarious time capsule. Even though it can feel comical there is some real grittiness to it too, which is noticeably absent in the latest trilogy. I'd like to see a game that recreates Contracts' strange and sinister feel, suck all the humor and wackiness out it and put it on the scale of the modern trilogy.
The ending is awesome, great video by the way👍
I bought the game on GOG last week, and I'm loving it!
Those transitions 👌
I had a pretty similar experience going from playing happy go lucky Nintendo games to then playing MGS4 when I got a ps3. Even though I had no idea what was going on outside of stuff I've seen on RUclips at the time, the game completely blew me away in terms of graphics and the cinematic experience.
I like how you kept mentioning knives through the video lol
I remember playing this game when I was 10 and I absolutely loved it, replayed it multiple times
I was not ready for that joke at the end :D
damn just checked your sub count, by the quality of this video I’d think you’ll have at least 500k subs
I've said it before and I'll say it again I wish they'd make another Hitman game with similar gameplay to Hitman 3 with Absolution's level of Storytelling.
Top quality video, subbed
Ahhh Larry Loveage in the pictures... I like this guy already!
the reason why I liked Hitman absolution this one is my first Hitman game and two I like killing every single NPCs
Clearly a lot of work went into this video! I can’t think of many other video game channels that have this much hand made frame by frame animation! Great work. And I agree, this game is trashy but fun and cool!!!
5:00
Absolution's solution to this contribution🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man i love this video
We need Absolution 2 ngl
@@lukky6648 it certainly left a lot of plot threads that lay sadly abandoned.
My favorite hitman game story wise ... it's like a movie !
I played hitman 1,2,3 and they are amazing gameplay wise
Hey, can we get a list of the song use in the vidéo ? thanks a lot
I actually love it. It's the game that drawn me to HITMAN trilogy, although the trilogy is 100 times better. It doesn't make Hitman Absolute a terrible game, except
1. Checkpoint resets the level
2. All npc with same uniform sees through your disguise
3. You change back to your signature suit everytime you enter a new stage
The ending got me bad 🤣
Wow, this vid was in mine recomendations! Want to make a mention that im ru/ukr native and just googled hitman absolution for the first time.
Absolution was my first hitman game as well and I still find myself wanting to go back to its atmosphere a lot. It's grimy and edgy and honestly almost campy. It's something that's very early 2010s (the overly sexualised female characters remind me a lot of the insane practice of 'booth babes' that was common on gaming conventions back then)
More knife talk please. Pissing myself laughing!
I finished now and for me its a amazing game.
Did the math, they are 69 years old.
DAMN IT my secret is out
nice
I am actually suprised what music you choose for problematic part, when I heard the word I though about that song and then I heard the music
I always felt like absolution was a splinter cell conviction sequel, minute the cool goggles.
I never played this game but I used to watch it all the time, it always looked so interesting and fun to me
Ngl Hitman: Absolution feels like a badass action movie.
Starting playing this again and ive always loved this game, unfortunately no contracts.
