Agent 47 doesn't say much but whenever he does it is just great. I love that he introduces himself as "Mr. Rieper" when you sit down without a disguise in the auction in Paris
@@RandomPerson13 hemlock, more commonly fools parsley in the US.; belladonna; aconite (wolfs bane). dealt a lot with fools parsley as a kid, as cows love to eat it and get sick af, same thing with wolfs bane, but to a much lesser degree. and I've never seen belladonna in the wild. Just remember my mom at a young age telling my brother and I, not to eat them.

The dialogues in Hitman are outstanding! I remember one, when disguised as a mascot, you are waiting for a "job interview" with Sierra and talking to her guard: - Your choice of attire is a little... off for a job interview. - My suit is at the cleaners. - And you couldn't find anything else to wear. - Correct. - You must lead a very interesting life, my friend. - You have no idea.
I have gotten used to this style of communication from 47 so much, that it _threw me_ when I first heared the conversation he has when you start in Chonqing at the river-side walkway.
@@QemeH I loved that dialogue! I was just wandering around and I walked up and stood there and started talking. It threw me for a loop but it really shows how he evolved as a person.
I love how in the scene where he's disguised as a doctor, he doesn't say a single gram of a lie. "Isn't Belladonna poisonous?" "Yes." "Should I be worried?" "I'm not."
There bunch of quite "hidden" stuff too. Like choke someone, hold them long enough without doing anything, they'll start to say some funny shit. Or when you try to enter Silvio Carusos mansion as the cyclist, the guard says "No way in hell you're getting in looking like that, I can see your junk!" Or when someone sees an overflowed sink or some other mishap. "Just stay calm, count to ten. One.. Two.. Three... FUCK IT!!!" It's incredible they did all this dialogue for so specific situations
@@shredd5705 There also a bunch of references to other maps and games . My personal favourite is the two guards in the upstairs security room in the kronstadt building talking about how one of them was poisoned by fugu fish served in the Gama Hospital (Hokkaido) and then was saved by Kai (the Hospital AI) then the other guard mentions how the AI was built by robert knox himself. Tbo this on the Miami special assignment not the main mission as far as i know.
i learned early on that anything that can remotely kill anyone in-game is there because the devs put it there so you can use it for killing, it's just a matter of finding out how to use it for your murderous intentions :D case in point the sapienza ruins cannon, if you already know that caruso will be practicing his golf swing where the mansion side cannon is facing, it doesn't take much imagination to realize that you can use it to blow him up to the next country. same goes for the dock side cannon for de santis.... :D
"ooooooh a telascope? oooh look a building across from it! i wonder..." and then you pistol shot silvio, through his telescope in the church, tho my favourite in sapienza is the stalag... either mite or tite, placed sneakily above the virus and out of view
i love the little conversations that NPCs have, sometimes when im chasing my target, i stop by some guards talking, just to hear the ridiculous stuff they are talking about, and not to mention while i was hiding a body, a guy asked if i needed help with that
I aimed at he civilian who discovered me hiding a body and he said go ahead shoot me i want you to do it and i left he kept screaming come back and finish me 🤣
It does have quite a dark message though. Makes you second guess all these supposed “accidents” that are easily brushed off daily and the government as a whole. It reminds me as to how easily a murder can be covered up and how psychotic and predatory some people can be. Ill be playing the game and cringe to myself knowing the type of wild fantasies some nutjobs surely are having, especially when considering the type of opportunities you’re presented with. Im all for it if it gives them a place to vent, but we’ll never truly know. It was a sort of psychological self evaluation for me. Sure ive dicked around and mowed down entire maps but got bored quick. It’s about who you really are when presented with vulnerabilities. Personally i like to wear tactical gear and roleplay as a spy and only kill those who deserve it. Some people would definitely go for more sadistic approach. I know it’s a bit of a reach but on a serious note it makes you question yourself and the moral values of others. And if it doesn’t it should. Do i enjoy this? Why do i enjoy it? What would others be doing? Does he/she deserve this? All questions that instantly come to mind when playing. Maybe I’m over analytical but these days you need to be.
I heard someone say that Agent 47 is the Bugs Bunny of video games. The only character in the world who is aware he is in a video game and can cheat the system.
Man, whenever anyone talks about Hitman it just makes me want to go play more Hitman, even after over one hundred hours across both recent titles. These games are just so, *so* good. Great video!
It's always interesting seeing channels you're subscribed to comment on other channels you've subscribed to to see that they might have completed the subscription circle and thus committed subscribeception
Both hitman games and their dlc are all on my copy of hitman 2. I honestly can play it forever. When hitman 3 comes out and hopefully delivers, that entire package will probably be my game of the generation
I remember trying to guide my friend through Dubai when Hitman 3 released so he could get the hang of it, but he was getting frustrated (rightfully so as I was being kind of invasive and almost parental in how I guided him), and I decided to just hand him the controller and said “you know what? Kill them however you want. Just let me watch.” He then proceeded to shove Marcus off of a balcony while he was throwing up some whiskey he had poisoned in front of tons of people, made an escape, accidentally ran into his other target on the way, killed him by chucking a letter opener at his head, and somehow got away. We were laughing our asses off at how absurd it all was. A couple of days later he had his own copy of the game and after a month or so he had Silent Assassin on every level. Then I remember much later I showed a different friend Dartmoor and my “clean hands” approach where I beat the level without incapacitating anyone but the detective and got Emma to poison Alexa. It blew his mind and he tried the level for himself, and was amazed when his decision to lie and say Zachary killed himself led to Alexa offing herself for him and let him obtain the case files without any more trouble.
It's the same people who don't have patience for stealth games in general. There's a ton of great stealth/assassin type games out there that people simply refuse to play for this same reason.
5:10 Another one of my favorite 47 NPC interactions is during the New York Bank level where you can disguise as an interviewee applying to be an accountant. You step into the office and two HR Members give 47 an ink blot test with three different images. This interaction out of that whole interview has to be my favorite: "Tell me, what is the first thing you see in this image?" "I see a figure in a large coat. Perspective...skewed as if I'm looking at him from the ground. He's got something in his hands..." "I-...uhh, go on." "He's armed. Dual firearms. Large caliber pistols." "I see. What else do you see?" "He's just finished a job. Perfectly executed." "And...who is this man?" *"It's me."*
For me it was a guard in Paris. I threw a hammer to distract him, but I guess he saw me somehow. He yells "Hey hey buddy! This is not your personal dumpster. We don't do that here! Pick that up!!!" I got a chuckle out of it, and during this time the guard says "Are you just going to leave that lying there?!?!?" So I went over picked it up, and he says "Thank you, I knew you were a decent human being." I was 💀
“Should I be worried?” “I’m not” Always found hitman to be dark comedy games. Look at absolution first mission where u throw the guy out the window to his death after he was celebrating a phone call from his doc not having cancer 😂
I remember there was moment in absolution during gameplay we're you switch cover so a gaurd doesn't see you. At the moment you switch the game is designed set off a lightning bolt in the background. Just that combined with the ochestra score made that game worth it for me. If they could just release a music mod of some kind.
Thats why Hitman Contracts will always be the best Hitman. Actually makes you feel like you're in a dangerous situation that you can easily fuck up and die in, has weight to it. Now its just "bald smooth guy does whatever he want with not much consequence and lots of funny"
What I love is that when he does talk to characters, especially targets, he's so obvious with the fact he's a killer. His alias is named after the grim reaper and every conversation includes something about death or gruesomeness. He could walk up to the target, say "I'm here to kill you in exchange for money from a client you have made angry with you" and they'd laugh it off as a joke and immediately dismiss their body guards so they can go lean over a balcony below a hanging piano next to a propane tank standing in a pool of water with a faulty extension cord in it alone with the bald heavily armed barcode-having reaper man they met 5 seconds ago.
Your initial approach to Hitman '16 is exactly why I thought the (infamous) episodic approach to the game's release was actually ingenious. Instead of playing through each level once and being done as you had done, I was given incentive to replay each level multiple times while I waited for the next one to come out. As a result, the game was on my mind for half the year. And I loved it. I get the argument for ditching the episodic release, but the developers don't get enough credit for doing something unique that really complemented the game's design.
@@judyhopps9380 once you get used to the maps, number of targets, guards etc, you will get a feeling how to complete it without walkthroughs or without getting spotted. I used to hate Colorado for the size of the map and the number of targets and guards, but after replaying it for 15-20 for mastery points, I can say I love it just as much as Paris and Sapienza and now hate Bangkok for no apparent reason. (I know I am a year late, 🤫)
@@cezarsoba you were right though. I 100%ed colorado and I actually enjoy it, especially the tactical assault on the mock up car. I'd say Bangkok is the worst. So few paths, so few options.
@@floatingpyro2050 I kinda see where you're coming from, but think about it from this angle: The producers refused to interfere with Truman's actions unless it resulted in him trying to escape the bounds of the set, or to help guide him towards narrative beats. All of the actors were required to follow predetermined scripts and couldn't really deviate from them (sounds a bit like the A.I. to me). The only reverse of this I see is that the player is aware they're playing a game and the A.I. is not, and though the game kinda hams it up a bit, that doesn't make it much of a reverse Truman show (even if it did, that would make pretty much all games reverse truman show, and thus not very interesting).
@@cheekybum1513 Say what you will about him. But 47 is a very honest man ... clone. He makes sure to let the target know they're going to die. It's not his fault they never take him seriously, or just misinterpret him. The food really was to DIE for.
There was a mission where I was trying to poison the target with a muffin, but I somehow messed it up and the guy found me suspicious. So I grabbed the muffin, chucked it at his face, snapped his neck, and his his body in the nearby bush.
This made me laugh so hard and I don’t really know why. All that time spent sneaking and getting into position, only to decide “F*ck it. MUFFIN CHUCK!!!!” Maybe I’m just easily entertained.
I love how hitman always hints at being a killer. Almost every mission that makes you become someone else, he tries to let them know that they’re dead before they are
I never realized it until you pointed out his “Dr. Rieper” alias, that the full name is Tobias Rieper, meaning “To Buy His Reaper” because he is a paid assassin. Genius!
4:10 - Don't forget the one mission where the game rewards you for knocking a target out with a fish and throwing him into a shark tank. Yes. The game wants you to knock someone out by slapping them with a live fish.
Diana when 47 is in mumbai: "be careful, a local street gang is on the lookout for potential assasins" 47 while carrying 12 different weapons: "well they're not very good at it"
There is another layer of experience you haven't explored. Try turning off ALL assistance features (most importantly: instinct, minimap, NPC markers, hints, picture in picture). You will be so much more immersed in the density of the levels; you will think harder about how to stalk your targets; you will be trying to memorize and predict patrol patterns instead of 'x-ray scanning' them; you will get to know the locations, building layouts, pathways by actually casing them personally; you will be listening behind a closed door before opening them; you will not automatically be informed about which areas are restricted for your disguise, so you'd have to analyse the environment more by what an area is meant for in that world...I could go on, but it's best that you see it for yourself.
@@gangstasteve5753 Well I mean isn't that part of the fun? Think about it like this, if guards are supposed to be protecting someone high value chances are they're gonna know almost everyone on the team assigned to the protection detail and recognize a rando trying to blend in. And if the whole point of Hitman is to outwit your targets and their protection, you'll have to think outside the box to find a way to get close to your target and kill them and it will be that much more satisfying when you finally do it. That's how assassins work. That's not gonna be everyone's cup of tea and that's fine. Hitman is meant to be played the way *you* want to play it. And if you want to try something wacky and creative that you're not entirely sure will work then fo for it cuz the results might surprise you. Basically what I'm saying is that if you really want to test your creative problem solving skills doing what the OP listed above is a great way to do so.
@@mello6311 You know something? Im actually playing hitman like this since seeing that comment and ive been playing about 24 hours and im still on sapienza. I want a really good challenge from this game and playing it this way makes it a lot more like blood money. But even if the minimap is off, you can go to the pause menu and just look at the full map whenever you want. this was a good idea, and its probably gonna cause me to play many many more days in this game to complete it than i normally would.
one of the many hilarious moments: agent 47: *puts on the clothes of a shorter latino musician with dark hair, dark skin, completely different face, and a different voice* other musician, who supposedly knew that guy well: You shaved your head? Haha you crazy guy!
Also when 47 disguise himself as p-power, his arm suddenly filled up with tattos in instant. The tattos then will magically disappear when 47 change disguise
Racer: "Wait, Belladonna? Isn't that poisonous?" 47: "Yes" Racer: "Should I be concerned?" 47: "I'm not." The dialogue is like something out of a Seth McFarlane/Matt Groening show.
It's an adventure game. You have to use real-world knowledge to progress. Something like Portal is a puzzle game: everything you have to do and all the mechanics in Portal are revealed right away. Hitman is an adventure game, because you have to explore the levels to figure out how to accomplish the goals.
One of the most funniest things I’ve come across in this game was when I had an unknown target I had to kill and it happened to be some random dude in an alleyway that I shot because he saw me knock someone else out.
@@beforegrim Don't you mean the Maelstrom? The constant was in the Ark Society level, and he was clearly marked as a target, and killing him resulted in mission failure. The Maelstrom was the guy you had to find out the identity of.
I think some of the funniest moments arise from certain people not being enforcers when you’d expect them too. Alma knows what all of her guards look like, the doctor knows what the medic staff looks like, these make sense. Sophia Washington was in an extended relationship with Blake and fails to realize he no longer has an English accent or hair. Almost no one in Hokkaido seems to care that I’m clearly a 6’ Caucasian man wearing the director’s hair piece. Those two asado chefs are literally brothers. It’s so good 😂
I think one of my favorite pieces of Dialogue is when you get spotted as a ninja in Hokkaido. If you overhear some conversations you get: "What did he look like?" "A ninja, a real life shuriken throwing ninja! I thought I was going to die. It was awesome." "Command, the guy was wearing pajama's. Real badass looking pajama's."
You can absolutely get a perfect rating while killing in non-accidental ways, including gunshots. The rating system is based on a few criteria : 1) Bodies found -> if a body other than one killed by poison or accident is found, including an unconscious person, it counts a "body found" and your rating takes a hit, 2) Spotted -> were you seen trespassing, or holding a gun or poisoning a drink while not in a disguise which makes it non-suspicious, etc. ? 3) Noticed kills -> whether an NPC witnessed another NPC die from something other than an accident or poison, regardless of whether someone saw you do it (so sniping someone who's in the middle of a crowd for example would get a noticed kill). 4) Recordings -> if you were seen by a camera and didn't destroy the security system after (usually found in a security room). 5) Non-target kills -> did you kill anyone other than the target(s). An important additional point is that in Hitman 2 the system was tweaked in an update such that if you kill someone who spotted you or noticed a kill or found a body, any "body found", "spotted", or "noticed kill" they were responsible for gets erased (ie doesn't count in your final rating). Now obviously, if they aren't a target you get a non-target kill, but it means you can do illegal things in front of a target or have them find a body and as long as you kill them before they tell anyone (more or less) it doesn't end up affecting your rating.
@@djCatScanRL That sounds a bit counter-intuitive to me I'll admit. What's the point of making a death look like an accident if you then stuff the body in a dumpster or laundry basket ? Sure looks like someone killed that person after all, when it's eventually found after 47's left. The more "purist" runs I do personally are SA/SO/AO/NoKO, meaning silent assassin, suit only, accidents only (so only accident kills for the targets) and no knockouts, meaning no knocking out (or subduing or anything) any non-target. It can be very challenging, but it's also a lot of fun when you manage it.
@@gilless429 Thats what I like to call my ghost runs, on top of all that you mentioned I also avoid picking anything up, as if I was never there, and as of what the guy above mentioned I have done that but in no way serves a purpose to the main mechanic or strat, maybe because of my OCD or the way I like to immerse myself in these games but for instance, on my Santa Fortuna SASO run I go for Andrea then Rico and Jorge for last, I know theres and easier eay to get Andrea by doing a peakaboo technique outside her office through the window, but that to me at least was a bit lame and easy, not logical nor storywise clever, so I decided to put emetic in her water and waited for her in the bathroom, as much as I drowned her, because that was the kill I was aiming for ( I was designing a whole Hitman 1 2 and 3 run and I was working on every method and kill because I wanted the whole run to have variety as I love to headshot most my targets so I didnt want that, do andrea and ken morgan were the only two targets in the whole run that died by drowning) so anyway once I killed her I couldnt help but hide her body, I knew I was still getting SA but in my immersion it just didnt make sense, even if shes found and counts as an accident, logically Rico and Jorge would be notified and their patterns would change idk, in game mechanics it wouldnt change a thing I know, targets would still be doing their shit but I just wanted it to make more sense as a silent assassin, just like Miami, my go to kills were shooting Sierras car with the sniper and disguise as Ted Mendez and go for Robert, but I didnt feel comfortable seeing Robert all hyped and normal even though his daughter not only just lost the race but died horribly, I eouldnt be waiting on Ted to show him my guns if I just found out that, so I struggled, but manage to kill Robert first as Ted and then Sierra on my way out, shes racing, she wont know her father just died, no up until the race is over, so id say its more of a roleplay logical immersion to make the run go a bit more to the ground, realistic though , and I say I struggled with Miamis timing cause I don't run nor sprint in games, never, its so bizarre cause after more than 10 years of playing like this my fingers are already used to the necessary strength to pull the joystick forward without running, in most 3rd person games, I actually had to acostume myself to assassins creed since origins cause running was on default whenever going all the way with the joystick, so thats why making it to Sierra before the race was over was hard, also avoided any starting location other than the default for story purposes so yeah it was tough but made it ;) sorry for the long ass text I guess I never talk to anyone about things I like, have a great one!
If there's one nitpick I have towards this video it's not mentioning perhaps the greatest weapon in hitman 2 located in the haven mission...The Homing Briefcase. Or perhaps you were trying to keep that a secret. Either way good video.
Henry M They patched it out originally from the beta, but then put it back in as the “briefcase MK2” which does not only track its targets around corners, but they slowed the animation down so it looks even better!
What makes Hitman so special is simple: The developers LOVE their game! I spent at least 150 hours to reach the max-level in any area and it was really fun! Can't wait for Hitman 3 :D
@XEX I didn't pay a dollar to play the entire trilogy on gamepass and i unlocked all the tools and guns, no charge. The only dlc is a couple extra missions
@CVI2 The entire Hitman franchise is dramatically discounted on Steam right now, you can get the entire trilogy for $40! Entire 7 Deadly sins set is $12, too.
The part seen at the end of the video where the ink splotches are and how he literally tells the bank employees interviewing him that he’s an assassin and they don’t get actually realize that he’s actually meaning it is one of my favorite lines of dialogue
"Even if your opponent feels this stupid, it's incredibly rewarding to outsmart this many of them." -Why TF2 pubs are still fun after thousands of hours
One of the funniest parts for me is the Mumbai mission when there’s another assassin in town whose after one of your targets and can lead you to the others. I was laughing so much when I found that out. 47 even helps the assassin indirectly by telling the billionaire to look up, game is really great
I never noticed how unnatural his mannerisms are, such subtlety, I tend to go for the highest rating at the end of a level which I think is one of my problems 😂
The game would be better without a scoring system at all. The scoring system in the newest game makes me so anxious to try anything other than pure stealth, that I never actually try anything interesting. Would love to be able to turn the stupid counter off so I can play stress free.
@@Caffeinated-DaVinci Mate, relax, its a game, the games are suppost to be fun n shit like that, not make you axious, Ignore the score, or if it bothers you that much, play is multiple times, just remember while playing, have fun
i started out trying for silent assassin every match, because i am a nerd. much for fun to play it for fun. if somebody catches me dumping a body, i don't restart; they're going in the box with it now. edit: i now choose to do a score run, challenge run, or a fun run right at the beginning and then i can just ignore the stealth because i'm not going for points on this run.
I find it ironic that I never stay in those positions long because I get bored, especially when he doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it. But I’ve never actually been able to notice until this video pointed that out.
What you were saying about the guards being quite smart but being readable so they seem dumb and how it leads to ludo narrative harmony is so accurate. I never would have thought about it like that. The guards in thief and thief 2 are a similar situation in my opinion they were advanced for their time, but they still seemed quite stupid. This just reinforces the image of force of drunken apathetic idiots being used as guards, and you feel the same way about them that garret does, that you are better than them, and you can easily out smart them so therefore you dont need to kill them and can instead toy with them and circumvent them entirely.
I think of it like that's probably what 47 WOULD think and feel about the people that he tricks if it was real life, so it makes sense that's what the experience is like as the player.
If you want more funny little dialogue line with NPCs : isolate one, choke him without taping the button, they will struggle for a while and they will say things like "I guess we are friends now..."
The points you brought up for Hitman 2 also applies to why I loved Blood Money. I remember sitting above an elevator in Blood Money and just choking out everybody who entered the elevator. In the real world, the guards can just shut down the elevator and deal with this situation pretty easily, but with NPC logic they keep entering the elevator to arrest me, only to meet their doom. It's hilarious and precisely matches some of what you said as to why Blood Money, HITMAN and 2 are great games.
Whenever I settle for killing everybody in You Better Watch Out I always begin stealthily by killing all the guests that ride the elevator. I really get a kick out of it and it is my preferred way of dealing with The Scientist in the casino mission (outside of blowing him and the Sheikh with a mine as they leave the limo).
I'll ruin the joke, Hitman 2's dlc on steam (as of my buying experience) is a garbled mess of bundles, some had certain dlc, some didn't, io didn't really consider how said bundles would flow in retrospect
Alfredo Alfredington makes way more sense the way the new games make him look tho, how the hell an orphan assassin who 90% of the times he interacts with someone he kills/knocks them out, would know how to communicate humanely?
I remember when Blood Money came out and I was so sick of my boss talking about WOW I tried to get him to play it. He finally said "yeah yeah I'll try it if you lend it to me". The day after I lent it to him I wanted to ask if he liked it or even if he played it, but I didn't want to come off as a dork. So I walked in and he lite up and said: DUDE!!! That fucking game is amazing!!!!. Then I got a raise haha.
@@toxpov3612 That did actually happen. I loved Blood Money and wanted to bring it up to him. He indeed lite up right when I walked in the day after I lent it to him and wanted to talk how awesome the game was even thou he played it for like 6hrs Then he got me into WOW. (20070
The combination of 47 thinking out loud, sub-textually hinting strategies of effective killing to the player in combination with the way he behaves is a stroke of utter brilliance.
This is why I cannot wait for the third game, it's gonna be amazing, especially with the inclusion of the other two games for those who already own them, plus their save data so they don't have to redo their completion of either game. Here's a fun story. My dad played through the first hitman games and loved them to death (no pun intended), so back in 2016 when I discovered the game on my own he got really excited, as he didn't know a new one existed. We eventually got it, and I played through a good portion of it, liking it a lot, but feeling the same way you did about the lack of content. When the second game was announced my dad and I were both incredibly excited to see the massive expansions to the worlds. We bought the game and dlc twice so we didn't have to share a save file. Interestingly, he and I had very different styles of murder. I was a more traditional artist going with accidents and more realistic approaches to situations, which worked fine of course, and I very much enjoyed playing that way. My dad however, plays like, in my opinion, the game should be played: Using incredibly outlandish and out of the box methods, tricking guards with guns, getting away with stuff you shouldn't at all, and it was so fun to watch him play the way he did. I've since been adopting some of these methods and sort of become a jack of all traits, and my dad visa versa (He recently tried doing some silent assassin suit only challenges, something I didn't find nearly as difficult as he did). Currently we're both sitting and waiting for Hitman 3 to release in January and watching for any new info about it like a hawk to it's prey, (or an assassin to his target). TL;DR My dad and I love hitman and have played both in different ways which led to antics and hilarious moments and we can't wait for the third.
I've only played the original "Hitman: Codename 47" from 2000, back when I was a college student. That one was pretty challenging and actually took itself quite seriously. It seems that a lot has changed for this franchise, though, and your "review" definitely makes me interested in trying out some of the more recent games. Thank you for that!
The first one I ever played was Silent Assassin. Which was the second iteration, but the first on consoles. It is still my favorite in the franchise. Even if the mechanics are outdated, and a bit of a hassle to deal with. Those games were darker, and had a more serious tone, but still implemented a good amount of humor. Dark humor especially.
The last one that took itself serious was Absolution, but it was more linear than the others so it wasn't as liked, art design and aesthetic was 10/10 though and the story and atmosphere were great. Gameplay was sadly not a good fit for Hitman but I still think the game gets a bad rep regardless. I wish they kept the certain cinematic approach Absolution tried. (I realize it was flawed in it's execution though.)
My most favourite part of "blending in" is the musician right next to 47 during the statue reveal in Santa Fortuna. He's like "who on earth is this guy and where is the other guy?" Doubletaking constantly. It's the little details that make it great for me.
The best part about the house tour is if you get that door unlocked at the top of the stairs there will be blood everywhere. And once the target ask what's this room, 47 describes what happened with great detail.
Got my brother to try this game, and he told me very few gaming moments were as memorable to him as when hitman 1 allowed him to throw a patient's heart out in the trash and then slowly jog back to the end unseen and ride off on a snow mobile haha
That realtor mission has a hidden serial-killer-in-the-neighborhood subplot with the old lady selling cupcakes. its hilarious and intriguing at the same time. the amount of details and thought that was put into each mission is mindblowing
There are so many cool subplots and little stories going on in each mission. Miami has one of my favourites: Robert Knox has planned to blow up the opposition's (Kwook?) car during the race, hiring a delivery guy and a mechanic. When you get to the mission, you can find security interrogating the delivery man in a room, with an evidence safe on another room. If you open it, there's a bomb inside with some instructions for calling Robert after the mechanic has planted the bomb. If you take that bomb (it can't be another), plant it on Sierra's car, and call Robert through a payphone, he'll ask you to come meet him on a walkway and will blow Sierra's car himself. This convoluted kill (double kill, because you can push Robert afterwards) has very little hints towards it, just a challenge with no description, and is located right at the beginning of the map, so easily missable, and yet it feels so full of care and attention.

I wish more people understood that the game has so much content not designed for stealth/perfect scores runs. Every single target has a reaction if things go wrong, they all have fall back areas with guards, they all have lines that they say when Agent 47 closes in on them and points a gun at them. Some of them promise that they will kill you, some beg for mercy. Everyone that I talk to about this game say that you need perfect scores and that's "how the game is meant to be played" if that was true there would be so many less ways to go about things and the game would just restart when you get spotted.
as someone whos never even been interested in these games, the dialogue with the lethal injection had me laughing my ass off. For those that don't know, hemlock is RIDICULOUSLY poisonous and lethal. My dude, I just started playing Hitman (the first one), and this video was eye-opening. Particularly, your comments about the subtle ways the devs convey the un-human aspects of Agent 47's personality are insightful and spot-on, I think. Great video!
in the beginning i was critical about the game as well as i only thought about achievements and getting those sneaky kills , but after finshing the game you sorta realise that its all about having fun and letting out that psycho that lies within us and its so relieving and funny at the same time
Don't forget the amazingly written out story of the campaign, it's truly a picture perfect action movie where you play the main character. It shows the empathetic and emotional but composed side of Agent 47, and develops the most beautifully written out character arcs. Even though the Hitman games are basically known for just being a stealth game, Hitman 1, 2, and 3, are in my top 5 list of story games.

I think Hitman 3, released after this video, did one of my favorite things with the inhuman machine of 47, and gave him those little human moments. Talking to the sommelier in Mendoza, giving advice to the woman on the bridge in Chongqing, these little touches of the ultimate assassin having a little something more human in him... They really, in my opinion, benefited the character a lot.
The nostalgia I got from watching your review of this game was enjoyable and saddening as most moments of nostalgia are, We get to think about a time we lived when we enjoyed somethings and we sit in that memory of happy and feel a sense of sadness over that enjoyment missing and wishing we could go back wanting to relive it again for a first time. I got a sense of that nostalgia in this video and it was awesome and amazing since I've never even played the game but thats just how good you are at this content. Thank you

playing the fifth time in sapienza: **looks at cannon** *i have an idea*
i learned early on that anything that can remotely kill anyone in-game is there because the devs put it there so you can use it for killing, it's just a matter of finding out how to use it for your murderous intentions :D case in point the sapienza ruins cannon, if you already know that caruso will be practicing his golf swing where the mansion side cannon is facing, it doesn't take much imagination to realize that you can use it to blow him up to the next country. same goes for the dock side cannon for de santis.... :D

Breaks my heart that some people don’t have the patience for hitman, they’re truly missing out on something great.

Another one of my favorite 47 NPC interactions is during the New York Bank level where you can disguise as an interviewee applying to be an accountant. You step into the office and two HR Members give 47 an ink blot test with three different images. This interaction out of that whole interview has to be my favorite:
"Tell me, what is the first thing you see in this image?"
"I see a figure in a large coat. Perspective...skewed as if I'm looking at him from the ground. He's got something in his hands..."
"I-...uhh, go on."
"He's armed. Dual firearms. Large caliber pistols."
"I see. What else do you see?"
"He's just finished a job. Perfectly executed."
"And...who is this man?"

Really? It's more like reverse Truman show.
@@floatingpyro2050 I kinda see where you're coming from, but think about it from this angle: The producers refused to interfere with Truman's actions unless it resulted in him trying to escape the bounds of the set, or to help guide him towards narrative beats. The only reverse of this I see is that the player is aware they're playing a game and the A.I. is not, and though the game kinda hams it up a bit, that doesn't make it much of a reverse Truman show (even if it did, that would make pretty much all games reverse truman show, and thus not very interesting).

And if the whole point of Hitman is to outwit your targets and their protection, you'll have to think outside the box to find a way to get close to your target and kill them and it will be that much more satisfying when you finally do it. I think one of my favorite pieces of Dialogue is when you get spotted as a ninja in Hokkaido. If you overhear some conversations you get:

You can absolutely get a perfect rating while killing in non-accidental ways, including gunshots.
The rating system is based on a few criteria :
1) Bodies found -> if a body other than one killed by poison or accident is found, including an unconscious person, it counts a "body found" and your rating takes a hit,
2) Spotted -> were you seen trespassing, or holding a gun or poisoning a drink while not in a disguise which makes it non-suspicious, etc.
& an Absolute Purist (like I try to be when I have the patience) would even hide the victims killed “accidentally” 👨🏻🦲
Yeah but an accident is the perfect way to kill somebody

I loved killing everyone and piling them into a big heap and watching the frame rate drop to about 1 frame an hour 🤣🤣

TL;DR My dad and I love hitman and have played both in different ways which led to antics and hilarious moments and we can't wait for the third.
it’s very fun to watch other people who have different play styles and trains of logic and adopt aspects of it.
Your Dad sounds like a really cool guy.
You have a dad?? :(
You have a nice dad
Contracts is a remake of codename 47 if you wanna play it
The last one that took itself serious was Absolution, but it was more linear than the others so it wasn't as liked, art design and aesthetic was 10/10 though and the story and atmosphere were great.
Gameplay was sadly not a good fit for Hitman but I still think the game gets a bad rep regardless.
I wish they kept the certain cinematic approach Absolution tried. (I realize it was flawed in it's execution though.)
So what you're saying is... you learnt to have fun.

I love that it’s not even remotely relevant to the main assassination but you absolutely have the option to investigate and piece it together
