bunny ear balaclava or just a simple balaclava tutorial part 1 crochet

  • THERE IS AN UPDATED VERSION OF THIS VIDEO • DIY crochet balaclava ...
    what I explained firstly in the pattern when you make ribbing around your face part, is to slip stitch in the next stitch ," skip one stitch " and slip stitch again. but because some may find it's too tight, you can ignore the "skip one stitch", instead
    * after you made the ribbing, slip stitch into the next stitch, and slip stitch again in the next stitch, turn your work, skip the two slip stitches you just made and make the ribbing again which is 5 single crochets in the back loop only*
    materials you need
    * yarn I used is thicker than normal yarn, it's caron one pound. *
    two colors of medium weight yarn
    I used caron one pound for the main color
    and big twist value worsted weight for the inner part of the ears.
    5mm crochet hook or 5.5mm for bigger size
    scissors and yarn needle
    sizing
    you measure from your forehead to the neck, ( that's how long your balaclava is without neck ribbing) and 1. that's the foundation chain. 2. Next make the rows that covers the top of your head( I did about 4 inches for my 22 inch circumference head) , and when you go to the side 3. which is hdc and slip stitch , put the 1 + 2 on your head and determine how many stitches you need for 3. Which is you must find where your head curves, down to the neck, ( not forehead to the curve) and make hdc stitches for that measurement. Hope this helps.
    next part 2 will show how to do the neck ribbing part and the ears :)

    I'm so sorry for the confusion guys!!
    So, after you made 26 hdc stitches, you slip stitch 2 times to the next stitches like so, in the video. After that, do not chain, turn your work, skip the two slip stitches you just made, make 26 hdc down to the bottom. Come back up with 26 hdc ( always 26 for this part) , when you made 26 hdc, you will make two slip stitches in the next 2 available stitches, turn your work, do not chain, skip the two slip stitches you just made, 26 hdc . Until you don't have the available stitches to slip stitch into. You should end up on the bottom part after doing the last 26 hdc.
    ( Slip stitch part is the top part)

      Hello there! Thanks for your comment, we are starting with the main head part. It'll be in the middle of our head. The chain determines how long ( big the head is) , top of the head to down the head , (mid point of the neck.) I measured from my hairline until the midpoint of the neck, it was about 11 1/2 ~ 12 inches long. I chained 40 (the measurement ) + 2 ( does not count as a stitch)

    Does anyone know how to crochet this but with a more baggy neck?

    • @byshiiho
      @byshiiho  2 года назад +1

      You can try to chain more when you connect the two sides, so there will be more chains to work on around the neck.

    • @byshiiho
      @byshiiho  2 года назад

      Unfortunately, I did not make this as a written pattern, I will try to in the near future. At 13:50 , you will connect your yarn on the other side. Which is the foundation chain we did in the very first step. We have a little pointy part where we did the 26 hdc. That part is the top part. Now you want to connect it to the other side on the bottom part. Then do the 26 hdc side part again, once you're done, do not cut off the yarn, go to the next step to chain and connect the both sides. Thank you, and sorry for the late response.

    i’m making mine with 50 foundation chains and then 34 stitches (instead of 26), but for the face ribbing, how should i modify mine? i think you said 18 chains or smth like that, so idk how much to do for mine😵‍💫

    • @byshiiho
      @byshiiho  2 года назад

      Hello! Thanks for the comment. What I always did was try it on, in front of your mirror, see how it looks, make the amount of chain that fits to your face, mine was like 9 or 10 then double it. So around 18. Since later when you make the ribbing it will be smaller.

    • @byshiiho

      Yeah so you can attach it to the foundation chain on the other side. Pointy part is the top part. So you gotta connect it on the bottom. Thanks
