    Put in a food processor, I don’t have one so we’ll use my blender
    Add corn starch, I don’t have corn starch so we’ll use rice flour
    Add ground almonds, I don’t have any so I’ll use almond flour
    Add almond extract, I don’t have any so I’ll use vanilla
    Results? Taste is an 8!
    Erika wins this season of the great American bake-off!

      Yep, so many ingredient substitutions didn't taste that bad in the end though so it must of been a success though!

    I burst out laughing with you. I think we all have been there when we try so hard and it just doesn't want to work with us.
    The pulp makes it better anyway.

    I actually loved this recipe with your variations! I retried the recipe by replacing cream with coconut cream and milk with almond milk. It was quite yummy! Thank you!

    Your channel just popped up on my recommended list and didn't take long for me to subscribe, liked the way you cooked the raspberries didn't strain so we'll do that , use a different flour , you use recipes like I do they are guidelines LOL , I'm always interesting in cooking and have a couple of cooking videos myself , mostly Newfoundland traditional meals, most of mine are out in nature with my dog. I also read your channel description and like you said here to learn new things and yep we're all in this together.
    You said it didn't look good , but it did on the video and I'm thinking taste really good. Have notifications on for next time and will be checking your older videos too

    So you were doing fine. A little much in the strainer. Using a spatula or rubber scraper mash the purée against the sides leaving the solids and seeds to toss. Repeat until the puree is all strained. No worries tho you’ll do ok. 😁
    The look on your face when the dog lit off… WTF?? 😂 Filming with an iPhone is tough. You’ll need a GoPro. An added expense but much easier editing I would believe.

    The easiest way to remove seeds from any type of berry is to use a food mill, but they are expensive so most folks don't bother doing it. I think it turned out pretty good. It definitely looks yummy.

    Brilliant video thanks Erika! It says a lot about you that you're just getting straight into these 'challenges', and yeah, so what if you go off the script/recipe - that's often the best bit, seeing what you end up with! Your blancmange actually turned out rather well I think ... good and solid enough and (as you reported), tasted good too.

    Just remember, proper gelatin melts in warm water and thickens when cool; whereas cornstarch is the opposite: You emulsify it with a little bit of cold water and it thickens as it get hot. This is also why gravy can be thickened with cornstarch and jello likes it cold :-)

    The grey is probably a lot of your seeds you left in. Which should be what it is. However, it actually looks outstanding. Its firmness with a little jiggle, was completely acceptable.

    Looks better than the one I had in Leicestershire years ago. My mom used to make Jello in what looked like Bundt cake molds sixty years ago in bizarre colors.

    Ya you should be stirring it constantly the more the better to keep the milk from scorching on the bottom of the pot and tasting burnt and to keep it from breaking and mixing folds iar into it for a lighter texture. I have been trained by Chef Lee Van Whittaker I was the dishwasher that showed up everyday for work and stayed late and helped with other things so that he said he woudl train me and he did. I also have licenses and certifications in other fields as well. So you def. can do it learn all kids of things! I WIll help you in any way I can.

    I'd call that a success! You may have been able to strain the seeds out after you added the liquid and before refrigerating. You are fun to watch!

    You did a great job! I taught my granddaughter to bake when she was 5 and she is now 18 and heading to college.. She is a great baker and doesn’t need my help at all.. Everyone loves cookies and cup cakes !!!

    Okay you were supposed to make the liquid milk with cornstarch and set aside, then put the remainder of the milk with the almond flour on to boil and once its about to boil( you dont want milk to actually boil or ir will break) add the cornstarch milk mix to thicken it.

    You obviously love to bake, and are quite good at it. I'm sure you could get a job at a bakery or café. Café would be great for you, you'd have a chance to meet people, and usually teams there become close.

    One of the times that using almond milk might have worked in your advantage? Normally, I would suggest using whole Vitamin D milk, but since you were supposed to add almond extract, well...
