From Powercon 2011, join the voices of She-Ra and Skeletor, as Melendy Britt and Alan Oppenheimer make their first ever conventiona ppearance! This amazing panel features the two voice actors discussing their time on He-Man and She-Ra, and even do some of their voices they are famous for! You donapos;t want to miss this!
Alan Oppenheimer is such a nice man. I met him a few years ago at Winnipeg Comic Con. I was so nervous and I knew he would have a line up of people wanting to talk to him, so I wrote a letter with everything I wanted to tell him and gave it to him. It was a very emotional letter about things that happened in my past and how his character of Oomph from "Little Nemo Adventures In Sluberland" helped me so much through the years, even going so far as to have saved my life (as silly as that sounds). I wanted to thank him for that and I did the best way I knew how. I wasn't expecting him to read the letter right then, I told him he could read it later and he said "Why would I read it later, you're giving it to me now." So I was super nervous and he kept glaring up at me every few seconds which just made it worse.
After he finished reading the letter he took his glasses off, looked like he was about to start crying and came around the table and asked if he could give me a hug. I was so scared I just nodded. He kissed my cheek and asked me if I was okay. I was so scared and nervous I couldn't even look at him, I just kept staring at the ground.
The next day I came back to talk to him and I asked him if I could get a picture with him, even though there was signs everywhere that said "No pictures". He said No and told me I could buy one. The guy who was taking the money for his autographs said "That's the girl with the letter from yesterday." and Alan immediately stood up, remembered and called me by my name (He remembered from the day before out of all the people he met) and said "Dear you can have anything you like." And I got a picture with him.
It was honestly the best moment of my life and I thank him so much for everything.
i feel you
Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming moment with all of us. This great show was a fun part of my own childhood. May all of your tomorrows be extraordinary.
I have the fondest memories watching She-ra.. Still love it even now 30 years later 💕💕😜
Alan Oppenheimer is one of the most versatile actors it has been my honor to ever work with. He's as spontaneously funny as Robin Williams was, and is in every way a true gentleman.
I never knew Alan Oppenheimer did so many voices until I saw this. Good on you sir. You made my childhood very happy indeed.
She-Ra is based off of her which you can see in the face and cheekbones so would have been great to see her in a She-Ra costume back then.
Michael Parker or the Adora costume
@RaveSacks I am a 36 year old man and i can PROUDLY say that i was weeping like a baby from time to time when watching this.. it was truely and epicly amazing
Melendy Britt is a knockout, even today! Wow. Loved her work!
nice,I just turned 40 this past August and have fond memories of He Man and the Masters of the Universe.
This is just, epic.
I would have been completely in awe.
I found this terribly emotional (!? )
It may just be my personal opinion, but it truly was such a magical time to be a kid in the Eighties.
We did have the best in films and cartoons.
He-Man & She-Ra were my favourites next to M.A.S.K & Thundercats, and Alan Oppenheimer is just a legend.
He voiced Falkor in The Neverending Story too.
Man, I did not have time to watch this whole thing, but damn it I couldn't turn it off. And now that it's over, I'm sad now. This was an experience. These two are such a joy to watch and listen to. God bless them both.
Two of the nicest most genuine people I've ever met. This was an awesome panel. Should've had Alan record a message on my phone for me. LOL :)
He Man and She Ra were a huge part of my childhood. Hearing the actors voices is so nostalgic.
Just saw Melendy on a 1973 episode of Ironside, wow she was gorgeous back then too.
This brings me back hearing his voice makes me think of all the filmation cartoons growing up from blackstar to heman., His natural voice is man of the arms and skeletor and kringer voices were awesome. His overlord voice was pretty awesome in blackstar too.
Adora/She-Ra was my idol as a kid. This is AWESOME! :D
After all these years, both may be older, but both Alan, and Melendy has still got it.
Alan turns 90 this year.
Most epic panel of all!
Frankly awesome! Great to hear the voices live on and see Alan Oppenheimer still looking well, as us in the UK dont get the chance to meet these legends. Nice one Pixel Dan, you and your team are awesome man. Keep up the good work...we appreciate it!
funny on the few seconds before she let out "for the honor..." while she was explaining things, i was reminded of the She-ra intro...
I would literally cry if I met John Erwin.
Thanks for this video, watching this brought back many happy memories of childhood afternoons watching she-ra & he-man.
Aww, you beat me to the punch with uploading the panel! Oh well, I'll be getting to uploading my version later. I'm still kind of recovering from the awesomeness that was the convention. XD All thanks to you guys for putting everything together! It was so worth it to travel to L.A. from the midwest and thanks again for the Marlena, Dan! I really do appreciate it! Now I'm one step closer to completing the royal family! It's sonicchick from the forums, by the way!
i bet some of you fans out there didnt know that alan oppenheimer also did the voice of falkor
from the neverending story.
That was awesome! Thanks for uploading this, Dan!
One of the main reasons why I watch the show - and I'm in my 40s!
They still got it!
Didn't know that, but I can HEAR it in his voice, all right!
He's the airship captain in Nox, a super game, awesome indeed
Alan Oppenheimer is a familiar face guesting on various tv series in the 1960s to the 1980s in many supporting roles...comedy ("Murphy Brown", "Night Court", "Here's Lucy") and drama. He played Dr. Rudy Wells in "The Six Million Dollar Man" in the pilot before Martin E. Brooks played Dr. Wells in the series. Sort of resembled Gavin McLeod of "Mary Tyler Moore" and "Love Boat" fame. Melendy Britt played Batgirl and Catwoman in the 1977 "New Adventures of Batman" and Princess Aura in the 1979 "Flash Gordon" cartoons (with Alan Oppenheimer playing Dr. Hans Zarkov and using his nasally Skeletor bad guy voice as Ming the Merciless) ...both from Filmation.
@artytoons I believe he was a colonel on an episode of _Knight Rider._ He was also the voice of the main "heavy" on _Passions,_ a patriarch whose face you never saw.
Those voice actors are great!! people......Great panel only wish I was there....have fun everyone
wow, melendy is still beautiful even after all these years, talented lady
I don't know if John Erwin's voice can handle doing He-Man anymore but I'd love to see a one-off animated movie with the surviving voice actors, and even if it was a Kickstarter fund they could just shut up and take my money.
I think Alan Oppenheimer and Melendy Britt are the surviving voices of the He-man and She-Ra series. John Erwin, if he's still alive, is a recluse.
17:00 "piss-in-ur-pants moment"
I came just to hear Melendy's voice
me too
She Voiced She-Ra in The Secret of the Sword(1985) like Helen Slater who Portrayed Supergirl From 1984 Movie, Before Terri Hawkes Voiced Sailor Moon in the anime movies and Tara Strong Voiced Bubbles in The Powerpuff Girls Movie (2002) with Blonde Hair,Red Cape and Tiara
Harriotte is still so beautiful ♥
He was even the voice of Man at Arms
Man at Arms is basically his normal voice.
I'm glad Melendy...or Harriet;) decided to finally show up! I hope someday John Erwin will relax and enjoy himself around people who would love to see him and wouldn't care one bit he wasn't a blonde muscleman;)
anything i'd do to meet melendy! she-ra was hoooooooooot! wooooooooooooooooot! she was, and still is, legen........ wait for it....... dary!
i'm glad I got to meet Alan Oppenheimer, he signed my Skeletor figure and animation cel
time had changed. now she-ra in netflix is far different than what we grew up with lol. but i still say the old she-ra is by far looks more awesome.
Was the Sean Long in the front row?
Anyways
I didn't know Linda Gary passed on..John Erwin should come back everybody loves him no nomatter what he looks like..Plus he did the voice if Reggie Mantel in the old Archie cartoons for filmation I would love to hear then doing the origional characters again.Harriet still looks good :)
Melendy and Alan are national treasures
lol @ 33:57 Skeletor was one of the BEST villains in cartoon history!!!!!!
I loved watching this it was great continue to put out these great videos he -man and she-ra was a big part of my childhood still waiting for my Plymouth Walmart to get the new He-man origens figures I have prince Adam and sky sled and battle cat now just just waiting for the others ✌️😁
How did I miss this convention? I heard nothing about this. I see the next one is September 23 in Torrance, so hopefully I'll make this one.
Melendy Britt Voiced She-Ra in She-Ra Princess of Power (1985) and The Secret of the Sword that Helen Slater Portrayed Supergirl from 1984 Movie Said to Oliver James on Channel 4 in 1988 and Lynda Carter Portrayed Wonder Woman from 1970s TV series Said to Graham Norton in March 2000 with Blonde Hair, Red Cape, tiara and Blue Skirt
I'm ALWAYS having two martinis instead of working!
Thumbs up if this video put a huge smile on your face!
THUMBS UP this comment if watching this brought back all your amazing childhood memories of the show and you teared up !!!!!!!!!!!!..............
I have a friend that knows both of them. Hopefully he will introduce me to them. He got me actual drawings from the show.
33:57 - Best part
I would love to talk to these two about my storyboards.
I would ask them if the creative nature of my work is right.
In my storyboards, Adam goes to GreySkull and sees the Sorceress and he says "I have the power!", and Adora goes to SnakeMountain and sees Skeletor and she says "I am the power!".
I figure these two could tell me if I capture the spirit of their characters in my movie storyboards.
..Hollywood will likely get it all wrong. :P
I absolutely hate that John feels he wouldnt live up to our expectations of what He-man would look like. He-man isnt John. John IS He-man!
does anyone have an interview with john erwin doing the adam/he-man voice
John Erwin is kind of a recluse, so he does very few interviews.
hook em horns! HTX rocks!
@WarhawkLegend69 I gotta give you a thumbs up on that.
I was also one person who asked a question during the panel! Hear what I asked at: 17:39-18:42!
