- There is one thing that catches the surfer’s attention when it comes to Chile and what it stands for: “the land of lefts”
As the summer in Europe came to an end we started to plan ahead and looked for destinations that haven’t been on the wingfoiling map yet. The plan was to take some of our best Duotone and Fanatic team riders and find spots that not many people have been riding on a foil yet. A couple of weeks later Clement Roseyro, Paula Novotna, Klaas Voget and myself, Stefan Spiessberger found ourselves in Matanzas, Chile - a very versatile crew which made it super exciting to face the challenges and times of joy lying ahead of us!

I am all about keeping the search interesting but at the same time we are talking about downwinders and foiling now not surfing

Like the out of bounds with no one around. Nice scenery. If you drop in on a wave and don't like it you can fly out of it.

Nice edit but honestly …. Definitely much nicer to see Klaas Voget ripping the waves of Chile with the windsurf , as he used to do , then with this “new toys” …. It s a new sport and it has to evolve but from outside pure surfing and windsurfing is still so much nicer to watch and for me personally also to do ! Anyway keep on surfing no matter with which “toy” !

Windsurfing is cool but in my opinion the true holy grail is using a surfboard with a wing. Windsurf boards cannot be as light and dynamic as a true surfboard or kite surfboard can. Foiling is cool but its more interesting to ride the surface of the water
@@hamsandwich1860 I totally agree with you 🤙🏼… you named it … the most important thing is still the direct contact with the water …. And not flying over it what happens with those foils 🤦🏻♂️…. Wing + surfboard sounds amazing 🤙🏼… I should try !
Windsurfing, surfing, kitesurfing, wing foiling, prone foiling... it all has its own fascination. And no matter what toy you go on the water with - as long as you go out and come back with a big smile on your face - you've done everything right!
The big advantage of this hole foiling-thing is, when conditions are not so perfect and you wouldn't go out otherwise because it's too choppy or too bumpy - its such a great feeling to go out, feel the power of the wave und fly on top of it instead. It´s all about more time on the water!

I'd be pretty frustrated to have flown to a unknown sand spit with perfect offshore barreling nuggets and have to wing in the flats for my sponsor instead of getting pitted on a surfboard. Getting on a mission to find wind instead of enjoy the conditions right in front of you is the apex of unsustainability... Plus it shows a real lack of versatility I deam hurtful to the industry.
